  1. The MasterBox Light I bought only supports 3 case fans so a single 3 way splitter should be perfect. Updating the bios will be a learning experience, but I should not have any problems with it. I'll be sure to look into a bios update if my RAM is not running full speed.
  2. Yeah, I had no plans on going overboard with the overclock. Thanks for the fan splitter suggestion, I had a few options for those set aside already but it's nice to see some new options.
  3. I actually looked a quite a few motherboards but picked that one out because I thought the layout was more intuitive. The black and white colors also were a better fit than the brown color a lot of boards that price are. Well out of my price range, a good looking board nonetheless.
  4. I'm approaching the end of my build (only need to buy the Ryzen 1600 and a Motherboard) but I don't really know which motherboard would work best. I'm looking at B350 boards with 4 ram slots that can support my 3 case fans. Has to be mATX. I picked this one out: http://a.co/bLpoNxB but I wanted to get some opinions from other people. If you want to suggest a board it has to be sub $80 usd. Here is the rest of my build for context: PCPartPicker part list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/WGgC7h CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 1600 3.2GHz 6-Core Processor Memory: Corsair - Vengeance RGB 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory Case: Cooler Master - MasterBox Lite 3.1 MicroATX Mid Tower Case Power Supply: SeaSonic - EVO Edition 620W 80+ Bronze Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply My build will have soft blue LED lighting, nothing too fancy or flashy. I'll be buying a GTX 1050Ti or 1060 3GB in the future once I save up a bit more money. What do you think of the motherboard? Any suggestions?
  5. Phone: Moto X 2nd Generation (Republic Wireless) Problem: On the right side of the screen the glass has seperated from the rest of the phone leaving a noticeable gap (about the size of a pencil lead), the seperation is just down the middle and the edges are still flush with the edges. I can press the glass back flush with the phone but it won't stay that way, I'm assuming the adhesive wore out. (The phone is almost 2 years old.) I haven't droped the phone, and the phone is basically in perfect condition besides a few nicks on the metal. My question: I can't afford to have the phone repaired professionally (plus at this point I may aswell buy a new phone if thats my only option....). I was considering purchasing some clear silicone glue to put in the gap and reseal the screen. Would this be a bad idea? If so what are my options? If not what kind of glue would work best with this? The digitizer appears to still be fully attached, as the screen still works perfectly even with the gap.
  6. I have a Logitech K330 Keyboard, a E-Blue Mazer Wireless Mouse, a Steelseries Siberia V2 Headset, and a Wii U Pro Controller for my current setup.
  7. I personally stopped using Avast after their big update to provide support for Windows 8 completely killed many W7 installs lol. It had a clean easy to use UI that even my grandmother could use....
  8. Try browsing around OMG Ubuntu (they focus on Ubuntu but cover other distrobutions as well), they post a lot of news on new and improved software and give tips about making the most of your time with Linux.
  9. 250GB gives you leg room for programs and updates, you could easily shrink that down to as small as 16gb but then you become limited on files and such. As long as you disable fast boot on Windows there should be no issues with dual booting. Windows cannot open Linux partitions and Linux has protections against opening a Windows partition left in a unsafe state (hibernation, sleep, ect.) As for your previous post.... The only real disadvantage is the drastic drop in read and write speeds caused by the usb connection.
  10. 250gb from the ssd would be plenty for linux, if you game on linux then do more. If you plan on keeping gaming on Windows then 250gb should be enough.
  11. Install Windows 10 first, turn off fast boot once installed. Then installing dual boot is as easy as it was on W7 as long as you get a uefi compliant distribution. If you dont know how to dual boot install it's pretty easy on Ubuntu based distrobutions. You first need a USB drive and a Ubuntu ISO file for your computer. Use a program like rufus or unetbootin to create a bootable usb with your iso. Boot into the usb and select install ubuntu now, and then "Install alongside Windows 10/Other Operating Systems". Use the slider tool to easily reallocate your W10 Partition and then everything should install just fine. Next time you boot you will be greeted by the GRUB menu which is a bootloader. Ubuntu will be default but you can move down using the arrow keys to select Windows 10. ~You can also partition your harddrive manually using the advanced section of the installer~
  12. Ubuntu based distrobutions support more than 4gb on 32bit but 64bit is recommended anyways.
  13. Id say Zorin and Chalet are also very beginner friendly distributions. Great post btw very well written.
  14. I put the zotac one in my friends build, works like a charm.
  15. Learning to use the new multitasking panes and multiple desktops might help. Funny enough my multitasking is better with 10 because of it's flat design.
  16. I have a 50$ 7 year old Wal-Mart chair going on strong. How you treat your belongings does go a long way in lifespan.
  17. My old Pentium 4 desktop, it was slow then and was nearly unusable up to its recent death. I recently acquired my grandmothers old all-in-one PC that has a AMD Athlon x2 processor. Surprisingly very usable after slapping Ubuntu on it.
  18. Why are you comparing the old xps 13 with a new razor? Anyways, between those two the razor is better.
  19. Nerwer versions of Utorrent are terrible, personally I use Tixati but Transmission is a super lightweight torrent client that comes with most Ubuntu based systems.
  20. It's any distrobution using the new gnome software. I run Xubuntu.
  21. Just updated (fresh install), had to install a .deb file through the terminal because the software center is broken. #nice.
