  1. I did not intend to accuse any browser in being lesser than the other. That's why i actually try to determine that a bit more "scientific" and the results were some un-interesting and useless that i lost interest. I've been using Firefox all the time, i do not leave my self with only one browser, at least not for long. I agree if you know what are you doing Firefox is capable browser, but still it's noticeably slower on parts and studer visually from time to time. Of coure i've made some edits on my Firefox, like disabling some animations and other features that i see useless.
  2. I think a lot of people here will relate with me, when i say that i'm not satisfied from 90% of the softwares that i'm using. There's aways something isn't it. Therefore i decided to get a bit of a different aproach with choosing browser. Some of you might find it interesting. There is a spread sheet with data i filled up for some browsers. I intendet to add much more data and test in there, but the true is i got bored. The reason for that is that the results start showing the things that we all know: - Firefox is slow and sometimes studers. (I'm unsatisfied by firefox performance since the 3.6 alpha update, this was the pivit point for me) - Chrome is resource heavy (I don't care if youtube will switch fastef between 720p and 1080p, but i do want to be able to choose which key should be the back button) - Chromium is Chrome (some might argue that it's other way around, but face it chrome is pulling the strings) - IE is fast and light, but somehow still shity and unreliable (If you don't know what i'm talking about, use it for one week and eather you'll understand, or be satisfied the new fastest browser you got ) Edge seem to be not as fast and light, as IE, but also not as shity and unreliable as well. (Still have the same issues as IE, but hopfully they'll reach a point to be a player, at least that's where they are heading) - Opera is packing average score with simewhat pleasing and usefull UI, also heavy almost as Chrome. (Never was the "something" browser in my opinion but it was prefered choice for many people. I expect to become worst every update since the new managment. Let's hope i'm wrong) - Vivaldi slow and clunky but packed with features, also heavy as Chrome. (I think this will be the new browser for the people who uses Opera, when Opera falls. Let's hope they got Vivaldi up and runnig to that point, as now i think it's not yet finished product.) From all those complaning you are propably wondering witch browwser I'm using. I'm using Safari as it is the best...no,no i'm just kidding . I use more than one browser. Chromium for general browsing and firefox for those places that i need to use some security protocols that only IE and Firefoxe can handle properly. Hope you find the read usefull, somehow. Best Regards, Vas Browser.xlsx P.S. My apologies for scaring you with .xlsx file. So let me provide few more methods of viewing the file. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8AAEFy_mnidV2xjX1R0dHBESTQ link on my personal Google Drive. 3. Currently I'm using a laptop with GTX750. But I'm in the planing of new rigg to replace my NAS with a PC that could became the my central of all my computing needs. The current idea is no GPU inside, but I'll gladly put the one, you'll give me, when i win.
  4. Thank you again for the reply I normally aimed to the non K series as my research shown that 6xxx are fine tuned and the 6xxxK some things are left for you to do. Intel site also point that 6xxx have better heat tolerance and lower TDP. And the question is are the 6xxxK really more power consuming constantly, or is that just optional because of overclock-able. @I am an SSD I will buy a CPU cooler to keep what whatever i choose to low temperature with lower RPM for silence purposes. @Xaring There are some good solutions on the server site, however they are still on Haswell or even older. That's why i end up going for the more mainstream parts, and to keep some headaches away. Also at this point i can find the 6700K to 10USD cheaper than the 6700 . But this is a temporary state of the market that i'm in. Normally the 6700K goes for 410USD and the 6700 for 370USD but now i can take 6700K for 360USD.
  5. Thank you for the reply. @I am an SSD I'll not overclock, and if i don't find any significant difference between 6600(6700) and not overclocked 6600K(6700K) i'll go for the K version just for the "cherry picking process". @Xaring The budged is flexible, I'm OK spending around 1K USD for the machine without GPU nor Storage, I don't need the GPU now, and the storage i already have. However the lower the requirements are met the better. The Xeons are quite attractive solution for me as they fit perfectly in my use case and older once are quite reliable and cheep. I'm a bit concern about them because they are professional products. In my experience they are a bit harder to tame, than their plug and play enthusiast counterparts. I'm not sure if i could spend the time learning all of its bells and whistles.
  6. Hi all, I'm facing the decision of my computing future. First let me lay my needs. Main functions the PC will be connectivity. It will be used as media PC constantly connected to multiple display, audio and USB devices. It should also replace my Synology ds215j as a NAS and have the firepower to run CAD and mathematical(FEM) system and to run smooth in the long-term. No rendering or heavy gaming will be done on the machine, however I would like to have a room for a mid to high end GPU (GTX960-970) in future. To give the proper perspective, my current system is laptop Acer V5 573G and it works perfect for me, here’s a link: http://www.acer.com/ac/en/KH/content/series/aspirev5 The config that I have is CPU - i5 4200U / RAM - 8GB / GPU GT 750M 4GB VRAM / Full HD IPS and I’ve added M.2 SSD Samsung EVO 840. And now for the question. I’d like to see if I could improve my setup. I’m exploring the option of getting completely new rig to become a part of all my computing needs. Main goals are, to take my Synology NAS duties and replace my laptop at the end of 3 HDMI cables, 2 headphones sets, 2 daisy chained USB hubs leading to 2 external drives, mouse, keyboard, full set of charging and data cables, 3 Gamepads, USB water purifier and so on. (The water purifier is a joke, but who knows, you get the point). For this I need a PC that is reliable, with good I/O, efficient and durability as it’s going to be on 24/7, with good thermals, dead silence when idling, and nearly silent when used under low load. Minimal requirements are: multiple USB3.0 + at least one 3.1 and type C no less than 4 SATA ports, one M.2, and SATAe and some key notes: Thunderbolt will be good to have but comparing prices I don’t think it’s worth it. Some server features as powering the PC via internet, protection, monitoring and management are things I’d like to have. Other server features and in no interest to me, such as ECC, SAS, power redundancy. SLI and Crossfire are out of the question. No overclocking is going to be performed on the machine. Rendering is not in my interests. I’m open for suggestion. I’ve four options in front of me. To keep my current set up and improve a bit with some new hubs and switches. To get an old server or workstation and freshen it up a bit. The prices for such thing in my area goes from 150USD (i5-2400, Q6600 or E5335) to 400USD (i5-4570, i7-2600 or proper Xeon dual-E5645 or single-X5550). Option three is to get new Haswell based system, as they still offer better variety in motherboards and features. And the option that I’m currently going for is to get a new Skylake system. This is what I’ve selected for now: Case: Fractal Design Node 605 or Core 500 if I go for mITX MB: Gigabyte Z170X-Gaming 3 or Asus Z170-A or MSI Z170I Gaming Pro AC if I go for mITX PSU: I’m choosing between Corsair RM, RMx and Seasonic SS Platinum CPU: Is to be decided between i5 6600 and i7 6700, I’m open for suggestion. Also now sure about the overlook-able version, the price difference is negligible, but are there drawbacks, such as power consumption and head output. CPU fan: Be Quiet Pure Rock RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury (2x8GB) I’m attaching a spreadsheet + .pdfif you don't have any office suit with link and pricing in my location (the prices are in BGN) you can check it, I’m open for suggestion if I underestimate a component or made an overkill somewhere please, feel free to give me an advice. Thank you all. PC.xls PC.pdf
  7. Just to proved some, I hope, useful information. I've been running Windows10 on my old "OS tryouts" system. Pentium 4 3.00GHz ATI Radeon R240 1GB 2GB RAM Old 250GB, old mechanical drive, OLD is the significant part of the system. As for build releases you have two option the latest or the latest that pass the tests before. You can choose which one to get from the update settings by choosing "how fast you want to get the updates". Slow - last tested version, fast - the version that is being tested now. I'm on the untested build Fast comparison between 8.1 and 10: - Processor wise they are more or less the same. The difference is insignificant. At least to my view, bear in mind the is old single core Pentium 4 is a single core CPU. - Windows 10 is consuming significant amount of RAM more than the 8.1. But again you could max the 2GB in 8.1 fairly easy. However I think this is a temporary state and they'll manage to get it exactly as 8.1 is. - The hard drive on the other hand is a component that troubles me. I use old mechanical drive it's performance is not O.K. even in 8.1 but in 10 is barely acceptable. I'm afraid, that because all the app manner of programming and the SSD power, the programmers are counting far more on fast read-write speed, than smart computing. I'm still waiting to see an app that is even barely close to the actual 32 based programs, performance-wise. The software part there is no change. I've not seen any software that 8.1 is running and 10 refuse to. As for the GUI they are doing marvelous job. It's not as versatile as some Linux based GUI-s, but I see how making it so customizable could be a problem for the "Regular Joe". Most people don't care if they could change the keyboard shortcuts for changing station running programs and so on, choosing you background is enough for them. I love that they actually listen to the insiders, even for the small things. For instance, even in Win8.1 if you have your taskbar on autohide and point to the corner in the area above the start button the bar will ignore this and will not bring the menu up. This is a minor thing that is easily overlooked, but after we report it in the program they fix it. For now it's good, I just hope they made it snappy and responsive as possible, before release.
  8. Hi all, Normally i don't solve my problem by asking in forums but, I've came to like the LinusTechTips community,a lot, so here we go. I've decided to by a projector, as i love big screens, the bigger the better. I've made my mind on few of the parameters, like 2000 to 2200 is a perfect Lumen level for the room that i intend to use, during day and night time. What the projector will be used for is, movies and some casual PC and Wii gaming. Therefore the things like refresh-rate and input lag are not that much of a problem. The refresh-rate is OK allover the options, and the input lag should be good enough so that I don't feel disorientated, but not the needed one for competitive gaming. And here came the question. Is it a good idea to buy a very nice projector like BenQ W1070 or W1300, or should i aim for something more casual, as for what I'm going to use it? Currently I'm able to spend around 1000$, as the price of the two mentioned above is. I would like to hear form someone who have struggle with something of a sort. Should i spend a lot of money for 1080p projector with perfect specs and renown reputation, or should I just go with a 720p decent option for half the price? Also a lot of the projector give a maximum resolution of 1920x1080 and native 1024x768, could someone decipher this, in my head contradicting information, for me? I love making the initial research before buying something, so blogs, reviews and anything of a sort will be appreciated. My doubts comes from the fact that, as reliable as the current projector market is, you will need to change the bulb in 3-5 years. This will cost as much a new low class projector, which is better the your high-end old one. TECHNOLOGY, WOW. I would gladly consider this as a good purchase if i was buying a PC, TV, Air conditioner, Washing machine and other thing that you use on dally bases or a lot of functionality. I doubt that a projector for casual gaming and casual movie watching will fall for me in this category. What I'm looking for is someone to convince me that, a cheep projector will do me the same justice. Or to convince me that it would not be a casual experience, and it will fall in the dally and functionality category. Apologies for the long post. If you don't like reading, you can just read the bolted text. Thank you for the attention. Regards, Vasil Nikolov
  9. Hay, I'm probably not even eligible to win this price in due of the fact that the shipping cost will be greater than the prize, but what the heck. Guys you are awesome! You are my only youtube subscription that i'm not missing a single video from. I was't here when you start it all, but i hope to be with you till the end.
  10. Buttons. AWAY! Still LG got it wrong on the middle of the back, but at least they know that all the others got it wrong as well.
