thanks for the fast reply, I am aware of that, but does this mean i can hook up the arc soundbar and use it just as audio source for the other connected devices on the tv? I just saw that my lg tv only supports 2 channel passtrough via arc so i could i connect the shield to my soundbar and run the ps4 as a normal device on the tv?

Hi I have a quick yes or no question because either I dont quite understand what this Audio Return Channel exactly means. I was thinking of getting a soundbar for my small appartment for example to LG SJ9. I saw that its ARC compatible and has 1 HDMI In and 1 HDMI Out. My setup would consist of my nvidia shield and playstation 4 for blurays and some gaming. Now the question is can i connect the devices to my TV and let the Audio Return Channel just send audio to my soundbar? I only saw graphs where it shows that i can use a smarttv to push audio over ARC but it doesnt say anything of pushing content from one HDMI cable to the ARC channel. I hope that makes sense. In summary I have 2 devices and one OUTPUT on my soundbar so i was wondering if there is a way to make both of them work. cheers

Hey all I got a good deal on 2x Adata 512GB SSDs and thought ill run these in Raid0 for some rendering and gaming. Now to my question, does it make more sense to run Hardware Raid or Software Raid? This is how my current setup look like: Intel 5820k Gigabyte X99-ud4 Mobo 1x Samsung evo 850 Boot drive (Windows 10) 1x Samsung evo 850 Boot drive (ArchLinux) Nvidia GTX 970 Of coures it would be cool if i could run these drives on both OS^s but i would probably maily use it for Windows because my CAD and Adobe stuff runs mostly only on windows. If i deciede to go with a hardware raid do i need to reinstall my os^s because then i have my answer. Thanks for taking the time reading, and hope for some useful comments.

I'm thinking of building a nas on a budget
neatfreak replied to Hulkbert's topic in Servers, NAS, and Home Lab
In case you want a pretty decent nas for 250-300 bux which is prebuild and some what upgradable. i can recommend the hp microserver g8. I bought the intel celeron version for 250 bux and upgraded the to a xeon 1230, and upgraded the ram to 16gb ecc memory. im pretty happy with it as my freenas NAS. i got 5x 4tb WD reds in it running day and night. but if you prefer building your own you got more upgradability but if you are just building one for a little data transfers i dont think you can beat the price of the hp micro server, even if you keep the celeron in it. -
Gigabyte X99-UD4 setting PWM Pump?
neatfreak replied to neatfreak's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
well i dont see an option to turn pwm off or on because the cpu opt which are the fans that are on the radiator run with the pwm signal so i doubt its locked, and when i switched the two the cpu fan and the cpu opt the fans didnt run at full load.- 5 replies

4790k vs 6700 for an editing rig
neatfreak replied to Vishnu Suresh's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
In my area the 5820k (Hexacore) is cheaper then the 6700k so i would rather go for the extra cores then on the x99 platform. -
Gigabyte X99-UD4 setting PWM Pump?
neatfreak replied to neatfreak's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
arent they set like that by default? in the bios the gigabyte bios, im not aware that thats an option to turn off and on pwm signal, but i guess ill check. it has a dual bios and i been using the classic mode because the last pc i used was an AMD Athlon 64 X2 and the bios changed a lot since then. lol- 5 replies

I was asking myself the same question on monday and on thrusday i bought the Dell U3415W and im pretty happy with it. it only has a little of bleed on the top corners, but i think thats pretty normal on a curved display. When i was researching i saw that both have the same panel from LG, just that Dell calibrated it themselves, which i like. I use it for CAD and some light gaming so it was clear for me to go with the dell, plus it was cheaper in my country by about 200 bux. I was able to overclock the planet to 85Hz which is another cool plus, but i dont know if that is any different on the LG. let us know what you choose.

Hello I got a Gigabyte GA-x99-UD4 motherboard and a 5820k CPU being cooled by a coolermaster nepton 240m which has a PWM pump. That pump is plugged into the CPU Fan plug and when i want to set the speed in the bios it wont let me, it just always runs at 2800rpm but i got this annoying noise coming from it, so i wanted to see if i just plug it into the cpu Opt plug what will it do. It ran nice and quite at 2600 rpm but i had this weird problem sometimes when i reboot the pc it just thought there was nothing on the cpu opt plug so no current was running through it and the pump was off, which made the cpu run hot good thing all the fans around the case started spinning really loud otherwise i wouldnt have noticed it. is there a program that makes me controll the pump speed other then the horrible gigabyte program? i tried fanspeed but it seems like it doesnt recognize much on the x99 platform. cheers.

Hey I have a GA-X99-UD4 mobo and a coolermaster nepton 240m and in the bios i was playing with the fan speeds. My problem is the pump is running at 2800 rpm and it has an annoying high pitched sound to it, and i can set whatever i want in the bios it wont change. So i downloaded the gigabyte system information center app which allows me to control fan speeds, but that program doesnt let me change the speed either. My cooler fans are connected the cpu opt pwm output so i thougth ill just switch the pump to that, btw. the pump has a pwm plug. After i switched to the cpu opt plug i got the same temps at a lower rpm from the pump and it worked great, but the next time i booted up my pc it didnt recognize the pump and the pump wasnt running so gladly i noticed it before it overheated because all the other fans where kicking it and the pc got really loud. so when i plug in my cpu pump in the cpu opt outlet it sometimes recognizes it and sometimes it doesnt, and that just seems weird. does anybody know how to make the mobo recognize the pump and let me controll the rpm speed? I tried speedfan and it doesnt recognize any of fans so cant really change anything. I usually render stuff for school, but now im just trying to study. the pump noise is driving my concentration insane lol any ideas? thanks. my setup 5820k @4.1ghz GA-X99-UD4 16gb corsair 2600 asus strix gtx 970 im already looking at aircooling, thats how annoyed i am right now lol
