  1. Unfortunately because of the mobile nature of the business we do not have a choice for other options. Yes Been running this way for years. Saved 100% data 2 times in 7 years using our methods. We know what we are doing. Our problem is finding a replacement for the 7 year old laptop. Which you should agree is risking failure after all these years. Thanks for the leads. The HP might be the one, though HP has not been building quality stuff for the past few years.
  2. Backups are taken care of we have a home server and offsite cloud backup. But not constant. obviously dual hard drive space also includes SSD's. I do not need backup advice or what hard drives are. Or how they work. Please answer the question asked.
  3. Budget under $2000, trying to shoot for $1500 or under is best.
  4. I am shopping for a laptop for someone. They have a Toshiba 17" that is about 7 years old with dual drives. Having a tough time finding one. She needs a dual hard drive Laptop. 16Gb ram or more. Intel or AMD. W10 perforable. Runs a bunch of hotels, bookings staff and maintenance as well as 100's of individual suites. Data fluctuates by the minute from thousands of outside sources. Unrecoverable without manually searching and editing. ramifications of a crash lasts for months if data is missing. So she runs the drives in raid 0. Saved her 3 times already. She doesn't need a graphics card but will get one to get the specs she needs. Does anyone know of any models of laptops that have dual hard drives? Thanks.
  5. Always depend on this forum to have some unibrow knuckle dragger crap on your post. Thanks for not disappointing.
  6. Unique PC case potential This one is kind of sentimental for me. My grandmother passed a few years ago. She had a more ornate version of this stereo cabinet my whole life. I always looked at her cabinet as great potential as a dual PC chassis. Outdated as the stereo was.Though it was filled with heavy binders of bakelite 78's with names like Oklahoma. As it worked out I missed out and it went missing when the house was cleaned. Nobody knows where it went. I saw this advertised and thought someone here might be inspired to create a great mod for themselves from it. I rarely see these cabinets available. So much potential to modify this into a eye popping system or couples setup. Although this one is kind of expensive and plain as far as others I've seen. If I see the same one my Grandmother had I will be building my own. One PC in each speaker .With a glass front infinity mirror edge with discreet lighting. Water cooling in the top that opens. Arduino controller that opens the top as the system heats up exposing the rads and pumps. A 2x2 stud wall added to the rear to hold a pair of dual monitors. Inlaid touch screen LCD's. Headphone hangers and keyboard trays. Better stop before I embarrass myself. Hope someone is inspired to make something amazing and get a much better price for this thing. I'd only give them 50 bucks tops. 1950 stereo cabinet
  7. TURN OFF FACE TIME ON ALL APPLE DEVICES. Critical new Apple Facetime bug has been discovered enabling anyone with an iOS 12 device (iPhone or iPad) to remotely connect to another phone without consent and monitor both audio and video and even speak through the device like an intercom without any interaction from the user on the other side. Disable your Facetime until Apple can release a fix for this bug using the instructions in the video or down below in the description. ▪ How to Disable Facetime (Best option right now) ▪ 1) Open Settings on your iOS device 2) Scroll down to Facetime and select it 3) Click the slider switch to disable (should be gray, not green) 4) Open Facetime to confirm it's disabled ▪ Check for latest updates daily ▪ 1) Open Settings on your iOS device 2) Select 'General' 3) Select 'Software Update' 4) When version 12.4 becomes available it should have fix https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxQqC7YDt7E&list=WL&index=2
  8. Reddit thread. Copying a explanation comment because they did it way better than I ever could. This is the beginning of implementing the UK blocking system in Canada. There will be mission creep just like the UK. The beginning of telling you what you are and are not aloud to do with the bandwidth you pay for. They say it's for one thing now but just wait. you already see how authoritarian they are. CRTC Link [–]multiplegeorges r/Canada So, I went through the primary document in the application bundle and here it is in their own words. What they want implemented Note that this does not explain who would make up the IPRA and where they would come from. They propose that this be determined at a later date. It will almost certainly be staffed and lead by industry beholden people. Why they want this implemented The cite lots of general US and Australian stats and apply them to the Canadian situation, assuming it is the same here: What does this have to do with Canada? Nice extrapolation. No evidence from Canadian sources on this. Here's the actual reason they want this implemented. They aren't able to compete with OTT services and are losing subscribers. And they don't even know if how much piracy is affecting their poor subscriber numbers, but oh man, they are sure that it is! But don't worry, they want this done to protect us from the hackers... Some tired arguments we've seen before Argument Reality They are losing all their subscribers to piracy Wrong. They are not competing effectively against OTT services like Netflix. Plus, their set-top boxes are the goddamn worst pieces of crap machines and I can use my phone to stream Netflix to my Chromecast. AND THERE ARE NO ADS. They are losing subscribers because their services are bad. Every downloaded show or movie counts as negative revenue in their spreadsheets. This assumes everyone who pirate something would actually spend money on it. This is obviously false and is the same tired old argument we saw in software piracy and music piracy. For both those industries, cheaper and more convenient services have effectively wiped out piracy: Steam and Spotify/iTunes. It's killing the Canadian creative industry False. It's doing great. Consumer spending is up. // The whole market is shifting to OTT and non-broadcaster production is doing well. In Conclusion It's the same argument we saw against music piracy with Napster and against video game piracy with IRC/FTP servers back in the day. Their content is too expensive and/or too annoying to access. Both those industries have solved this issue by adapting to the market. Our domestic BDUs do not want to adapt or invest in competitive services. They are proposing a hammer to kill a flea. I propose that piracy is a tiny part of the problem and if there was a way I could buy channels a la carte without ads, I might actually get a cable box again. Until then, it's Netflix and going to the movie theatre for me.
  9. Has anyone played with an Orange pie? Has anyone found a good location for support software in English?
  10. They announce net neutrality and now I'm getting notices in my ISP bills that if I want Netflix Facebook video and other services they will charge $8-10/month extra for each to make it not count against the cap. I don't think that they are playing with the same dictionary definitions of what words mean. You can leave your TV on 24 hr's a day using up the same data as any of the internet service data but when it comes to video on the internet it's somehow special and you must be gouged. Can you tell this is pissing me off? why are people just putting up with this?

    Data Caps

Why are Data caps only applicable in BC and Alberta? I have fiber to the house but can't use it. Just the general use and watching news and YouTube uses the full cap every month. You can't buy more data just higher speeds which just gets you to the cap faster. Why has everyone just accepted these caps? A PC can download if left on for a month 1250Gb in that time, on a 5Mb/s service. On a 25Mb/s service they have a cap of 300Gb. It's not a matter of paying more the 100Mb/s service has a cap of 500Gb which is still not enough. I'm on a pension for disability. It's killing innovation and jobs that the net could be the backbone for in remote communities. I want to run a unique radio station idea I have and sell advertizing. I have the money to start it up and get off this anemic pension. Can't do it. Telus said when they installed the caps it was $10 for the first 50Gb over and $5 for each 50 after. They switched it around. It's $5 for the first and $10 for each 50Gb after. Which is a ridiculous inflation. The most expensive data storage download cost is .009 cents per Gb. You live in BC why does LTT ignore this issue? $25 overage charge to reinstall windows? WTH? Drivers need download. Games got to download them. Cost $15-45 to download a game with all the other general usage. Or if I buy a game nobody can use the net for a month. Games aren't even coming with the disk anymore. Can't stream movies unless I buy it from the ISP. Can't watch more than 10 movies in a month at a 300gb limit. What happened with net neutrality? Netflix is $9 a month Telus is $9 per movie. We have a monopoly and price fixing as it is in the ISP market. Can't play online games movies and Twitch or Youtube without overage charges. What they have done is sold a cable package and said you can only watch 2hrs a month. Why does LTT ignore this issue with such a big platform you could end this practice. Bring it up every week until your audience all write to their reps to end this scam. All Data caps do is stop me from running a small business to support myself. Being disabled I don't have a lot of options. I can't have a 9-5 job because I never know when I'm going to be sick. LTT crew please start making a big deal of this. You need to beat this to death until everyone has written the CRTC and their local MP's and reps. These rip off scam Data Caps have to end or at least be reasonable. Why are they only inflicted on people in BC and Alberta?
  12. I don't do Twitter so no point entering. I have a 6mm Gun rebuild mat 11X22 $17 R.A.T.5 mouse biggest mouse I can find but still too small. Turtle beach headphones and LYX pro Mic. G15 keyboards in orange red and blue. What i would like to comment on is Mice. When are they going to make a mouse that is not child size? When are they going to make adult mice or mice for people with big hands?
  13. This is what I have. should have just done this.
  14. Which board meets my needs better? I already figured that out which is why i asked.
  15. I presently have an i5 1155 2500k DDR2 16Gb and a Z68X-UD3H-B3 Motherboard with a 7 year old 850W power supply. Running a Gigabyte GTX980 G1. Firmly passes the VR test. I have another AMD system that I want to build a NAS box out of. Turns out it has no upgrade path. I wanted to just put in the ram and install the NAS but the DDR2 is $400+ for what i need. I can't find any reasonably priced DDR2. So my options are pay out for the ram or upgrade. Haven't found anyone that has 16Gb of DDR2 chips they want to get rid of. I don't need overclocking or dual GPU No need for onboard graphics I do want best onboard audio lots of PCI slots Lots of USB and SATA i want some upgrade path. I have picked this CPU INTEL® CORE™ I5-6600 3.90GHZ LGA1151 Processor $299.99 Kingston HyperX Fury Black 16GB 2X8GB 2133MHZ DDR4 Non-ECC DIMM Dual Channel Memory $89.99 I just need a Motherboard GIGABYTE Z170X Gaming 6 LGA 1151 DDR4 PCIEx16 PCIEx8 4PCIEX1 USB 3.1 CrossFire SLI ATX Motherboard $231.85 I have tentatively picked this board. Does anyone know of a board that better meets my needs? This build comes to $631 budget is $700. If I can bring the price down I can buy a power supply. I have an NZXT 550 tower. Should I hand down the power supply and get a new one? The CPU cooler is an H80 liquid cooler. Will I need a new one? thanks everyone for your help. Chuffer My Rig.
