  1. I have a Pineapple MKVII and wanted to build a weatherproof, rechargeable wardriving kit to collect data using a stripped down version Kismet. This data will be saved into a file that can be uploaded to Wigle.net. I'll lay out parts and links, with pics as I go. Prices are in USD Starting with things I have gotten so far: Pineapple MKVII $120 (knock-off) pelican case $30 RG316 Coax RP SMA Extension (x3) $7 each (these are sold in 2 packs. I have 5GHZ I also want to monitor so i'll have one cable left over) ALFA Dual-Band Wireless adapter for 5GHz $42 Anker 10,000MAh PD Battery $27 small enough to fit into case USB GPS $15 for Kismet USB-C Passthrough $7.50 USB Hub $7 Since the Pineapple only has one USB port and we want to plug in 5GHz and GPS Here are some pics of my progress. T This USB-C Pass through was an oversight as the battery I got was Micro-USB So I got an adapter. But it's weatherproof and can charge the battery from the outside
  2. Would make a great tech quickie or a informational, cheap build guide. I just joined in on LoRa here in the U.S. It's widely gaining popularity in the EU, slowly gaining people in the U.S. This is a Off-Grid Encrypted mesh messaging system. It works on sub GHz frequency that in rual areas can reach 10 miles (16 Km) If you want to send a message to someone, if you are in range of someone else it will kindof act like internet packets and hop around in the fastest way to get to who you are trying to reach. Downside is, it only works best if more people are active either using a small cheap portable device, or building a base station to relay traffic. Look Ma, No Internet! and micro-controllers that are super cheap and easy to install Requires: -VERY cheap parts -little spare time -a computer to flash firmware via WEB GUI I built My base station for about $100 USD Portable devices can be had between $50-$150 USD
  3. @LinusTech Title says it all. Jump to 1:29 in the first video. Highly doubt they asked you to use half a second of your face in a headset
  4. HOLY BALLS!!! I love how small and portable it is. No mounting awkwardly on the ceiling required. Great for when you're renting a place you can't drill holes into the walls. This would ACTUALLY give my friends a good reason to come to my apartment for once to play games and watch movies. *fingers crossed*
  5. The slow motion was pretty awesome. But anything to do with a camera would make me salivate in public.
  6. I wouldn't mind a streaming PC for Steam. Sign me up.
  7. This will give me a reason to upgrade from my i7-2600K @4.8GHz on air cooling. Dark rock pro 3 FTW
  8. Sounds to me like a motherboard issue at this moment. start using known good components (New psu, New cpu if you have another lga2011 chip somewhere, a different stick of ram known to be good) Also, take a good look at the CPU pins.......all 2011 of them If it continues, sounds like a motherboard issue. And since its shutting itself off, most likely short protection. try hooking everything to another board just for kicks even. that should narrow things down as well
  9. I won a pebble steel from a smartwatchfans contest but its still backordered. Ordered back in jan....... cant wait to get it though.
  10. Alright, Here's the low-down. First of all, Amazon is not a profitable company. They loose money each quarter. yeah they have a huge market share and stock is like 380 something a share now for amazon at this time? they still loose money. Now the CEO outs this drone thing out of the blue? What DO YOU REALLY THINK is going on here? if you said for marketshare and stock value to go uphill, you are definitly right. Next is LIABILITY There are SO many things wrong with ACTUALLY implementing these drones. It was said that these drones are going to have a 5-10 mile radius so they are implying that these drones are only going to be available in rural/densely populated areas. And with all things Mechanical, things WILL fail. I don't care if its 1/1000 or 1 in a million, one of these suckers are going to fall out of the sky for one reason or another and since its in a rural area, its most likely going to cause some serious damage. It may hit someone on the head with its 5lb package. And if it doesnt hit someone, what if it hits a moving car who then swerves into another and kills someone. Amazon cannot take this kind of liability into its own hands. no company would. Not to mention the Scale here. we arent talking about a hundred of these things, or two hundred. we are talking thousands of these things flying around in order to make this actually work like they say they want to. lets face it, it's going to happen. Now, this would be a good idea for implementing in like lets say a 3rd world country where the probability of it falling out of the sky its going to land in the water or a field. Even better, refrigerated goods like water and vaccines can be delivered to these areas that need it the most. since the concern for these commodities are of higher value than the liability of a drone falling and hitting someone. And since these run on batteries, shipments can be cheap and make a company like Amazon a lot of money at, lets say $5 shipping. TL:DR Drones are an idea that is in place to save Amazon stocks and is nowhere near full implementation due to liability concerns.
  11. I have the same one. just for my work computer until my personal rig is done (did someone say build log coming soon-ish?) overall its a great psu. I got it a little cheaper on ebay though. I wouldnt spend more than $80 on something that's non-modular. Just look around. look at pcpartpicker, itll tell you usually where to find it the cheapest
  12. Along with Amazon Prime, free 2-Day shipping is definitely a good deal.
  13. Although the starting price isnt $29.99USD anymore (its $39.99USD) you can still get the $10 off making it $29.99. I picked it up. Thanks OP
  14. I wish this was a release date and not a more likely "announcement" for like Q2 2014 (most likely)
