Not really. Granted, I'm in the US with low power prices, so if you're in the EU with insane power pricing that could be important, but otherwise it's not that big a deal. As for DLSS 3, again it's more down to personal preference, but I would turning it on unless absolutely necessary for most situations, so if the card doesn't have it I wouldn't care.

I'd get the 3060 Ti no question. If your priorities are different than mine and if the power math changes stuff, then it could in theory make more sense to go 4060, but I'd rather get the faster card in general with the 3060 ti.

Solo'd this dungeon in Diablo IV last night on WT3. I'm kind of casual so this was a real rush for me. Playing as a Sorceress using x2 Hydra aspect which really came in handy as a set-and-forget spell.

This is my shame build as I've been exiled to my work shed while on leave.

Main Computer: UM680 from Minisforum with a Ryzen 6900HX overclocked to 5.2 ghz cpu and APU to 5200 mhz. The 16 gb of ram is also overclocked to 5200 mhz. Keyboard is a Nurphy Halo 65 and the mouse is some cheap Logitech thing. Macropad is the 6keys from Techkeys.

Tiny Computer: The super miniature desk toy looking Macintosh is in fact a raspberry pi zero emulating a Macintosh 128k, with a replica OG one button mouse. It's fun for playing VERY old games and was my first computer.

Crazy looking computer on the rack: A Callisto 2 3d printed case with a raspberry pi 4 8gb inside overclocked to a BLISTERING 2.2 ghz with a magical 1024x768 screen and a mechanical keyboard integrated in the case! ( I honestly use this when I'm at work as a teacher as a secondary computer to my school issued laptop as I hate the school issued device, it's not actually faster in use and I prefer Raspberry Pi OS or Arch to Windows outside of gaming.

Wingfan reacted to Actual_Criminal in I'm 30 in a few months; my passion for gaming has 95% gone...
A couple of years ago, my gaming passion had drained down to occasional FPS games a few hours a week. Now, even that is slipping. I work 6 days a week by choice to earn money and on my one day off (Saturday), I just want to be very lazy and watch mindless TV/YouTube and relax. I KNOW it is a toxic way to live, as i'm living for work then burning my freetime but need the energy to recharge.

What makes it worse is that i'm a hardcore introvert, so it's not like i'm using my freetime exploring the world or doing something productive. I'm also a single bachelor and have been a while, so it's not like I have the excuse of a family to care for either. (Don't get me wrong though, I am far from lonely and enjoy/prefer my own company. I am not depressed either. This is not the purpose of this topic.)

What is strange is that I love watching the trailers for the new games and can't wait to play them, but never actually do anymore. Occasionally, if I get some actual time-off work for a longer period by using my holidays (1 to 2 weeks) then i'll happily put in some gaming hours. However, it will be 2-3 hours a day before I can't be bothered anymore. Nowhere near the 12-16 hours I was doing around 5 years ago. I would say nostalgia gaming helps sometimes, but it can only help for so long as you soon realise that the original games are not as fun as they were and it is purely nostalgia creating the stimulation.

To give an example, here are some games I own but have never got round to playing: Fallout 4, FarCry 4 and 5, AC Black Flag, AC Valhalla, CP 2077, Elden Ring, Horizon Zero Dawn, RDR 2, NiOh, pretty much all Res Evil games, SW Fallen Order and probably around 100+ more games.

It is also the same though with anime. On my watchlist, I have over 300+ including many AAA popular ones. Same for popular movies and series.

Another thing that makes it worse is that some of my gamer friends still have their passion and are a couple of years older than me. They can regularly game for hours. When we meet, they will ask me if I have played X or watched Y and it will always be a no. Very lucky now if I complete 1 or 2 games a year.

Has anyone else's passion gone? If so, did you ever get it back?

I am currently planning out my AM5 build and this is 110% true for all of them. I really wish companies would listen so we could get more actual functional features for less money.

Wingfan reacted to Dedayog in Is the 4090 "worth" another $450 CAD over the 4080?
The 4090 is the simple best GPU on the market, and a HUGE uplift over the previous gen.  Is it worth $2100?  As a gift?  How much do you love your sibling and how much do you normally spend on gifts to each other?

Personally, i wouldn't even buy a 4090 for my girlfriend, and she does some fairly awesome and nasty things at my request 🙂

That's how I feel about the 4090 and its "worth".

Intel vs AMD at the low end and even Mid range is a farce to begin with, I'm making a DIY case smaller than a Velka 3 (the case often compared to an ATX power supply) so CPU cooler is tiny, and for a low end CPU+A2000 (unless there's a better option at the same form factor) 400W is still plenty. If I am uninformed and there is a sizable difference in some way then I'm all ears, but non constructive jest helps no one. for clarification, the CPU cooler in question is the Noctua L9i 17xx or L9a

Wingfan reacted to Dedayog in Do I need an M.2 SSD for the RTX 4080?
Might be true if gaming was optimized to actually transfer at 6GB/s.  No, not necessary at all, because you can't get files in a game to load that fast yet.
