    Is millimeters not micro. 😉
@Alan.YosephA contact frame is worth it imo, it's pretty cheap and you'll be able to get better cooling from a cheap cooler:

    Thermalright LGA1700-BCF BLACK or V2

Edit: Just wanted to add this:

The issue is that modern CPU's and GPU's are so packed with transistors from about 5nm in size and up currently. I found this article which seem fairly accurate:
    https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-ryzen-7000s-ccd-reportedly-features-6-57-billion-transistors-58-more-than-zen3
If we take a Zen 3 cpu for example, its generating 1.25W/mm² at 105W TDP

DoctorNick reacted to johnt in Horrible ping! Would new/different switches help?
What keyboard did you get, and are you certain they are Cherry MX switches or are they Chinese fakes? Spring ping is going to be very pronounced in a metal keyboard. I normally use paste lube (like 205g) and dip both ends of the spring into the container. I mean a tiny, tiny amount at end each end. This has completely resolved all spring ping for me. I do not recommend using a liquid lube for springs even though that seems to be the recommendation from every dumb ass tuber.

Obviously the Hyperion is made for water cooling and got a lot of space. The price is mostly looks. The MSI is cheap, but great value for what you get. I would go with a case that is in between the two. First consider what you want from the case. Do you want air cooling, water cooling or AIO support. Do you want glass panels or just black solid ones, etc.  More expensive cases has better dust filters usually. If you want air cooling and good looks with no RGB,  maybe the fractal torrent is for you:

I have built in the R6, then gave that away and built in a Lian Li Lancool II Mesh C.  Not near as nice, well built, or convenient.  Bought the North XL and love being back.

    Welcome to the forums!
On page 12 of the Dell G15 5520 Setup and Specifications manual it specifically states that "32 GB, 2 x 16 GB, Dual-Channel DDR5, 4800 MHz" is supported.
Given that your service warranty is still active, I'd contact them and see if there are any further troubleshooting steps you can do (assuming you don't have another DDR5 laptop sitting around to test the sticks with), then RMA the ram you bought because it seems to be broken

DoctorNick reacted to Blasty Blosty in the difference between budget and high end cases(?)
Generally, more expensive cases are made from more premium materials, such as metal over plastic. Every case has the bare essentials to hold a computer, but more expensive cases often offer an easier environment to work in, such as being more spacious or having more routing holes for your cables. More expensive ones tend to also perform better due to their more airflow-focused designs. Cheap cases tend to go looks over functionality.

DoctorNick reacted to Godlygamer23 in want to know about CPUs contact pad discoloration?
Something to understand with all this is that the pads are copper with nickel plated over top(electroless nickel I believe), and then immersed in gold. It's possible that some of these areas simply were not as clean as they should've been during the immersion process, and this is the result.

With that being said, I decided to look at my own CPUs for this discoloration, specifically older Intel CPUs, once of which has been through the ringer - my Core i5 3570K which still works to this day. It is currently used as on a secondary test bench of sorts, but I decided to pull it to see what it looked like on the bottom. The other CPU is from the same area - my Core i3 3240, which has hardly seen any use. Unfortunately some of the shots I tried to get were difficult where I couldn't show exactly what I was seeing, but you could still kinda see it.

    First up...

    Core i3 3240:
Nothing to see here. This CPU has barely been used since it was originally purchased, and even as soon as I pulled it out of its box, it was spotless and as expected.

    Second up...

    Core i5 3570K:
This surprised me. I could see it as soon as I pulled it from the socket - a very specific darkened area kind of towards the center, and on the top of the CPU. I'm not exactly sure what it was, but it was able to come off fairly easily - even in this state though, the CPU was perfectly functional.

The below photo is after cleaning it.
