roelversteeg got a reaction from LIGISTX in What cables to use for SAS drives and HBA card?
Currently planning on TrueNas scale with single pool, single vdev of 6 drives in raid Z2 (40tb usable) as that will cover my usage for now + a fair few years.
Then add a second similar vdev later to double capacity.

Okay reading all these comments im convinced to just buy SATA drives.
I think the Seagate IronWolf Pro 10TB (ST10000NE000) would be a good comparison with the previously mentioned SAS drive.
Thanks everyone for the quick responses

roelversteeg got a reaction from MaxBunny in High CPU usage from explorer.exe
I FOUND THE FIX. When the file audioses.dll was present in the folder C:/Windows then my cpu ramps up to 50%.
I tried replacing the file with the same file from another pc, same effect of cpu usage. It is only when i completely delete the file that my pc runs normal.
very weird fix but it works and so far no problems without the .dll present

roelversteeg got a reaction from PCGuy_5960 in Which cpu for my upgrade 8700k or 7800x
okay thanks. I think I will wait for some benchmarks when the 8700K comes out and see what it is going to cost and then go for the one that has the most bang for the buck in my applications. Its really hard to choose this year both in GPUs and CPUs.

Put in a SPST switch wired to all of the lights on top of the side panel so I can turn them on and off independently of the rest of the case.
Power switch, distressed.
The nixie clock.
It works. Shown adjacent to the LED strip lighting that will be mounted inside the aquarium.
Mounted the blue ray drive, hard drive, nixie clock, and fan. It's a mess in there. Yaay hot glue
The drive cover.
BD tray out.
So far so good. Put the cover around the nixie clock to hide the unsightly rough cut and finish it off by covering the screws with caps.
Mounted switch to the side panel that will be wired to the aquarium pump and air pump so that I can turn them off and on independent of the rest of the rig. It is illuminated, though dim.
