  1. I could use a in depth guide for home networking. sortof like the ultimate guide on how to build a pc, but for networking. I will get my first house soon and 1 of the things that i will be doing from scratch is setting up internet in the whole house, so everything from switches, router, wifi, ethernet, video surveillance. So having 1 video that could explain the basics up to more advanced home networking (like v-lan's or switch aggreration) with some example product showcases (nice in for sponsors like ubiquity) would be very nice from my go-to tech tips people. You could divide it in difficulties or budgets like: basic wifi and ethernet under 100$, aster network with 2.5gbit and some wifi repeaters for 250-500$, 10gbit on a budget for 500 - 1000$, Advanced for tinkerers 1000$+
  2. Currently planning on TrueNas scale with single pool, single vdev of 6 drives in raid Z2 (40tb usable) as that will cover my usage for now + a fair few years. Then add a second similar vdev later to double capacity.
  3. Okay reading all these comments im convinced to just buy SATA drives. I think the Seagate IronWolf Pro 10TB (ST10000NE000) would be a good comparison with the previously mentioned SAS drive. Thanks everyone for the quick responses
  4. No i dont have a backplane. plugging directly into the drives. Reason for SAS drives is that they are about the same price as SATA drives but better for NAS use and slightly faster.
  5. I am planning a proper NAS build but i am getting confused as to what cables i should buy to connect a HBA card to the SAS drives. I will be using a LSI 9300-16i HBA card (will be upgrading to more drives later and found a good deal on 16i variant instead of 8i) For the drives im looking at 6 Seagate Exos X16 10TB SAS drives. So far i figured out that the HBA connector should be the SFF-8643 type. but what i cant find anywhere is what the other end for the drives should be? If anyone could inform me as to what connector type i need for those drives, and where i can find such info in the future that would be awesome. Maybe some (ebay / aliexpress) links to a correct cable would also be appriciated.
  6. I know the prices are terrable. I can get a Asus strix 3080 for 899 euro here. Im willing to pay that. I also overpaid for my asus strix 1080 TI at 900 euros. So nice upgrade
  7. So im planning to go for a full pc upgrade (except ram i already got 32GB 3466Mhz 4x8), RTX 3080, Ryzen 5900X, 2TB pcie 4.0 ssd, 2x10tb hdd. But i am wondering if i should buy now (and ofcourse wait until my order can be shipped) or if i should wait until at least januari. The reason for my doubts is because there were some rumors of a possible 3080TI or a 3080 with 20GB vram releasing around that time. My main concern is that I get the 10GB 3080 now and a week after recieving it a 20GB version releases for 100 Euros more (im willing to pay that 100 extra). My usecase for a 3080 I am currently gaming on all max settings, 1440P 144HZ.(prefer visuals) and sometimes surround gaming with 3x1080p. and I also play VR with a Valve Index. So what do you guys think? is there a chance a new 3080 variant releases with the 6900XT competition, DRAM shortages and supply shortages?
  8. Random stuttering is gone. It was Corsair ICUE version 3.19.120. The new version 3.20.80 fixed it.
  9. I just uninstalled Corsair ICue software and now my constant 100% cpu on core 0 is fixed. waiting to see if the random stuttering is also gone
  10. For over a year I have a weird issue with windows. I think it started after a windows update (like all modern problems do). When ever I use an input device, this could be typing, clicking the mouse, changing the volume, using a joystick. My pc stutters and freezes. The faster I type the worse it gets. It isnt always happening that is the weird thing. Sometimes nothing happens for a few hours then suddenly my pc starts lagging whenever I type or click the mouse. But recently it has gotten worse. Core 0 is now almost constantly at 90-100% usage and every single key pressed lags the system. What happens: When it happens I can see Core 0 spikes to 100% usage The process "Intertupts from system" is at very high cpu usage The more input signals I give the worse it gets, for example changing the volume very quickly or typing fast or moving a joystick very fast. My input hardware: Corsair K95 Logitech G502 Saitek X55 HOTAS Software that might be the cause: Corsair ICue because it generaly works like shit. Troubleshooting I did: Updated all software and drivers. Unplugged devices until problem stops but it doesnt. What could it be? I am at a loss. P.S. the screenshot text is in Dutch because I am.
  11. That is probably just the way processors work. If a cpu isnt used much it clocks down to save energy and the lifspan. You can change this in the windows powerschemes. There is an option for energy management for processor. with minimal processorstatus, normaly 5%, and max status. if you were to change the minimum to 100% it should not clock down anymore. but this isnt really needed unless you are die hard overclocking and are trying to hit the best benchmark scores.
  12. Can you get into the BIOS? im wondering if the cpu isnt simply overheating or if it is seated correctly.
  13. Your benchmark scores are perfectly okay for those specs in a laptop in an extreme benchmark. I dont understand what the problem is. what settings do you use in games. because you cant expect to have 100+ fps on ultra in a recent tripple A game with that setup. Also when you disconnect the power plug your laptop could automaticly switch to power saving mode causing your hardware to clock down and results in lower fps in games. Try changing the windows setting so you are always in performance mode. TL;DR Your performance seems fine, check power saving mode.
  14. I have a big and weird problem with installing Nvidia Geforce drivers and Geforce Experience. The installation of Nvidia Geforce drivers (397.93) and geforce experience (3.14.0.139) cant install anything because it askes for the instalation package (vc_runtimeAdditional_x86.msi in a folder from which you can install the product microsoft Visual C++ 2015 x86 Additional Runtime 14.0.24516 See picture) depending on what version of the C++ runtime i have installed is askes for either a x64 por x86 version of the same runtime but it is always the version 14.0.24516 I tried deleting all the visual C++ programs and reinstalling the latest versions. I tried having only 2015 versions and only 2017 versions When installing 2017 versions the installation program also askes for the same file from the 2015 14.0.24516 version (since when does an installer need an older version of another program to install) I tried cleaning registry with CCleaner I have the latest windows 10 64 bit updates I tried selecting all the C++ .msi installation files from the folder C:\ProgramData\Package Cache nothing was the right one because I dont have the required version number The latest thing I did was look in the windows registry for all the files with the version name 14.0.24516. I found 3 versions: Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 x64 Additional Runtime - 14.0.24516 Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 x86 Additional Runtime - 14.0.24516 Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 x64 Minimum Runtime - 14.0.24516 As you can see the x86 minimum runtime - 14.0.24516 entry is missing. could this be it! This is the one it is asking for and this is the only one that has no registry entry. Please help, I dont have any video card drivers now and cant install them. EDIT!! I found the problem: I search the registry for all entries with the numbers 14.0.24516 in it and deleted them (I backed up every change ofcourse) and this did it. So i think that windows was looking for that old version because that was registered and it overwrote the new versions of the program.
  15. You are very welcome. I also encounter a lot of forums where the final solution is never posted. So I did! It could be a problem from a windows update, you never know with Microsoft
