Hoppa got a reaction from Tim Drake in What's a NAS?
Instead of plugging a HDD into a computer via USB, if it is connected to your router (or switch etc), then every computer on your network will be able to access the files of that HDD or multiple HDDs
In windows it will appear as a network drive

EDIT: forgot to add, there are some cheap ways to get a NAS without buying all the stuff. If your router has a usb port on it you can plug an external HDD in. It won't be as good as buying a proper NAS (in terms of speed and features) but it may get the job done.

Hoppa got a reaction from nest6400 in Would a 1000w PSU die because the rig is not using it enough?
It could be your motherboard that's faulty (telling the PSU that there is no motherboard connected)
Test the PSU by connecting a green and black hole with a paperclip (in the 24pin connector)
Make sure a fan or something is connected to test the power. Have everything else disconnected from the PSU.

Hoppa got a reaction from ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, in Who enjoyed Luke's motherboard videos?
I agree it probably should have been 1 long video.
Something like the "whole room watercooling" project is good being in a 6 or 7 part series because there's so much to show.

EDIT: OP should add a 'meh' option to the poll, I can't say I disliked it, but I wouldn't say i thoroughly enjoyed it either.

Biggest bottleneck there would be your GPU. (assuming you have 8gb of RAM when you start playing)
    CPU should hold out fine.

I've been sick of it since around 2011 (although I never liked it in the 1st place)
Almost all motherboards are black and red these days, or anything to do with "gaming"

I wish motherboard makers would just make non-coloured specific products like black, black and silver, black and white, white etc

lol wow that is so weird how just the tiniest movement on an SLI bridge can mess things up so badly.

I didn't even mention that Far Cry 4 was literally unplayable cause it didn't even boot properly (just black screen) but I nudged the SLI bridge a little and everything fine. Thanks, friend.

It's most likely your SLI brisge
While playing your game wiggle your sli bridge until the flickering stops.

Hoppa got a reaction from SuperPug in Do last gen games massively hold back this gen games (multiplats for pc)
If developers spent the time properly optimising their games for the pc, instead of creating a 'workable' windows install, then the pc games wouldn't be held back.
But the very idea of a company developing a game for a console means their engine limits, and overall quality are brought down to suit the lower end systems.
I could probably safely assume that the recent events of ubisoft and rockstar games are examples of what not to do and what to do as a games developer / publisher.

Well it seems if you can make people laugh you'll get plenty of likes.
I don't think you can change that about people.

I think the 'like' system is good but there should probably be another system for informative posts etc.
I've seen on other forums that have a 'respect' system.
So maybe a 'like' system for funny things you see (like on facebook), and a +1 'respect' system for someone who works hard to bring news or who helps someone out or something.

Linus happens to work in an environment where he gets plenty of static shocks (carpet and lino floors)
That's why he uses anti-static stuff/ endorses it.

When Linus was working at NCIX he had to ground himself on a power supply before he could use his computer because the amount of static he generated made the computer crash when he touched the mouse.

Me on the other hand, I have never had an electronic discharge in my house (wooden floors).
So it's not a concern for me.

It all depends on where you are.

Hoppa reacted to Katschung in 'The Quiet Viking' an IKEA case build
I present you my new project: The Quiet Viking, another project wich is based on a rather unusual case choice but more on that later.   First up the components wich will probably be used:   I7 4770K Asus Sabertooth Z87 GTX 980 (770) Corsair RM 650 8GB Crucial Ram 1TB Seagate HDD 240Gb Samsung 850 SSD   Later a custom loop will be added.   Now onto the case. I had to choose between Silverstone, Cooler Master, Bitfenix, Corsair etc. and that was not easy, so my choice fell onto...   IKEA!   Its the IKEA Oltedal if anyone is interested. And that name is the reason why my project is called "The Quiet Viking". Oltedal is a small town in Norway and when I think about Norway I think about vikings. It is indeed rather huge, you can see that my dummy board (Full size ATX) has more than enough space in there. But that will help making my look perfect, and watercooling later will be a breeze.
Everything dissasembled work. I can tell you taking apart ikea stuff is way harder than building them... I made some of the first cuts for cables and the I/O The cuts are not that perfect but it does its job well. Then some holes to screw the motherboard in.   And what are those stranges holes for?   Ahh yes, the 8-Pin CPU plug, I will never get it out there again...   And the rest of the cables.     In the top it looks like a complete mess, but no ones gonna see it in the end ...     Peripheral Time!   I gave my good ol' trusty IBM Keyboard a refresh with a bit of paint     The build is now finished until I get the time to make put my custom loop in, I wont rush this one since its my first full loop and I want it to be pretty much perfect. If I make some progress I will of course let ya see it.      Yes there is clear Plexi in the front, but it is so damn clear you cant see it unless you play around with a camera.   The plexi is just leant against these plastic angles and the rest is friction which holds it in place, and that works very well
To get it out I cut off a corner in the plexi   Same with the top panel, just held in with these angles and friction   That switch was too the last thing I waited for, since my last switch did just decide to go dead. (Pics of it at the end as fun)   On the inside didnt change anything except the routing of my PCI cables, which I will def need to redo.     This is the work of about 2 months, and I may get a sponsor in some weeks which will make the next progress much faster, otherwise it will need even more time    Hope you enjoyed it anyway
