  1. For anyone who has a similar issue and comes across this thread in the future, I solved it. Turns out that my PCI-E 3.0 riser cable wasn't playing nice with the PCI-E 4.0 GPU. There are a couple of solutions to this, you can either use another GPU to get signal, and set your PCI connection to 3.0 in the BIOS, or get a 4.0 riser (which is what I did). So, lesson learned, PCI-E is backwards compatible, but it seems that risers often aren't.
  2. Hey, I never got a solid answer, but it seems like it was something to do with my motherboard. I upgraded my Motherboard and CPU not long after this and it hasn't done it since. My main theory is something to do with the motherboard (or potentially the CPU) struggling with the data throughput as assets were streamed off the SSD, or something like that. But, again, I have no solid answer to be honest.
  3. I managed to get it going long enough to do a DDU then re-installing the latest NVidia driver. But now, it won't even give me a signal. My original suspicion is that this setup is pushing my 750w PSU to its limit and so the GPU isn't getting enough power.
  4. it was like 1024x768, something like that. I'd screenshot it but I can't get any signal at this point. It only occasionally gives me an image now.
  5. Hey all, I finally got my hands on an RTX 3080 recently and finally got around to installing it in my system, but there are some issues. A little background first, I have a full custom water loop, including a pump/res combo, a 360 rad in the front, a 240 in the top and CPU and GPU blocks. I spent the better part of today battling with my hardline loop just to install the shiny new RTX3080, finally got it there, leak tested and everything. Plugged it in and it refuses to show the proper resolution on my ultrawide monitor, even after installing the Graphics drivers. It does run better on my seconday monitor, just a plain acer 1080p panel, but still has some weird issues where the image just drops out. My full PC specs: Ryzen 9 5900X, RTX3080 (Previously a GTX1070), 32gb RAM, m.2 PCIE Gen3 boot SSD, 1TB SATA SSD, 2TB HDD, Corsair RM750w PSU, plus the custom loop previously mentioned. Now, I suspect I know the issue, but I wanted to run it by the brains trust on this forum before I pull the trigger on buying any more parts. Any advice you could give would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!
  6. Some new info. Ran a 1 hour long Cinebench, no crashes, not the CPU. Ran a 1 hour long furmark, not the GPU. Already kinda knew that from old testing, but good to confirm. Ok lets load up both to see if the PSU maybe just can't handle both being used heavily. 1 hour long Cinebench and furmark. No crashes. So probably not the PSU truggling for whatever reason. Installed a game on my HDD, played for over an hour, no crashes. There is something about running games off of an SSD that my system doesn't like. So, does that mean the Mobo is dying, or just maybe kinda bad? I'll try a BIOS update and then run games on an SSD again.
  7. Checked RAM for faults, all good. Anti virus is just Windows defender. I have another test I'm going to try later today, I'll report back results then.
  8. Well, still crashed after installing the new standard drivers. I'm starting to think this is my PSU giving up on life.
  9. Cheers, I'll try this. I use GeForce Experience to download my driver's, I'll check what type that uses as well.
  10. Update, can confirm, crashes even without the new drive plugged in.
  11. Yeah, well, the new SSD will have warranty, the rest of the PC is 3.5 years old now so they won't by this point.
  12. The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000133 (0x0000000000000001, 0x0000000000001e00, 0xfffff806096fb320, 0x0000000000000000). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 326fe3ac-18e2-4ceb-9f63-b751f0bb0d25. That's what the error report in the reliability monitor says.
  13. I've already switched out the SATA cable, but I'll try without the new drive plugged in
  14. Should be the latest version of Windows 10 as I re-installed today and it updated since. My Specs are in my Signature, I can modify the post to include them if that's easier.
  15. I recently finally upgraded to a 1TB SSD for installing my games. Ever since then, games periodically crash while I'm playing. However, I have determined that the new SSD isn't the issue, and the crashes are getting worse (Used to crash to desktop, now the whole computer is crashing). I have run Cinebench R20 on a half hour loop with no crashes to rule out the CPU. I ran furmark for roughly half an hour to rule out the GPU being the issue (while monitoring temps). To determine whether the new SSD was the problem, I installed HDSentinal, as well as the Samsung Magician software. Both read all my disks as being in good health. I also installed a game on my boot drive instead, still got a crash. I am running the latest GPU drivers, and even freshly installed Windows 10 just today, still crashing. So I come to you for help, as I am running out of ideas (and patience tbh) with this issue. Any thoughts/advice would be greatly appreciated. EDIT: PC Specs are listed in my Signature.
  16. My razer is getting pretty dull, so I could use a new blade, but I can't afford one, so I'm going to have to be stealthy to get one I think.
  17. This might not be the answer you were looking for, but, if you are running 8.1, I would just upgrade to 10. It's basically the same, but with an actual start bar. And the whole security thing isn't much better on 8.1 than 10, so I don't really see a downside. I would only reccomend refusing the update if you are still running W7 and want to avoid all those security concerns.
  18. Depends really on if you want to have a computer with you in the classroom. If you plan on doing most of your computer work at home, then build a desktop, if you want to remain mobile for note taking and doing your assignments on campus, you can't go past a good laptop.
  19. I finally got around to switching out for a brand new cable, and so far so good, it's been 4 days without a single issue. Thanks for your help man, this has been bugging me for a while now.
  20. Alright, it might be possible that I was unlucky enough to switch to another bad cable lol. I'll try switching cable again, I'm pretty sure I have another one lying around somewhere. See how that goes.
  21. So I ran Hard Disk Sentinal, it says my drives are all ok and healthy, but it did note that "problems did occur between the communication of the disk and host 103 times". Any ideas based on that? Screenshots below:
  22. Hey, So, sometimes my E (main games and general storage) drive doesn't show up when I boot into windows. I have 3 drives in my PC, my SSD boot drive ©, my storage drive (E) and a media drive (F). I have tried several troubleshooting steps to try to isolate the issue. I have: (in order) Replaced the drive (and while replacing the drive, I also changed the SATA cable). Formatted the replacement drive so everything was clean from day 1. Changed the SATA cable again. Changed to a different SATA port on the motherboard. Plugged in a different power cable from the PSU. It is always the E drive, regardless of the SATA cable or port. This has been happening since I had windows 8.1 on my system and I have since upgraded to Windows 10. The problem does resolve itself after restarting the computer, but it can take more then 1 try to get it to show up again (the most retries is 8 according to my partner). So, as far as I can conclude, it's not my OS, or my SATA cable, or my SATA port, or the hard drive itself. The last thing I can think of is it being the motherboard, but I would have thought changing the SATA port would have eliminated that possibility, however, my knowledge (while not insignificant) is still limited, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  23. An Update for anyone who may be intersted in this thread. My Motomaker order went through and I was all set to get my new phone, then they cancelled the order on me as they detected that the address I gave them was a freight forwarding service. That happened last night and I was told my refund should go through sometime during the week. A little sad that Motorola don't want people using freight forwarding services as the Moto X is now more difficult to get here in Australia Unless I want to lock in with Vodafone....and screw that. Just a little heads up for anyone who sees this thread and decides to do the same, don't bother as motomaker won't let you ship to a forwarding service. Edit: If I no longer post on this thread, assume that my refund came back through ok, if I have any issues with it, I will post again just to keep people informed of what it's like to deal with Motorola from another country.
