  1. It's just a change in your SATA interface. Your data will be fine. The only things you will lose are things like TRIM support for your SSDs, I believe.
  2. I'm 22 years old and 6'1" ... 120lbs... I'm skinny as hell lol
  3. I have a set of Sennheiser PC360's and I love them. I would imagine that these would be similar (perhaps a bit more pricey). The PC360's have a good, flat response, the sound is crystal clear, and the mic quality is excellent (mic quality is extremely important to me. It's just common courtesy )
  4. During pretty much any movement in games. Having a 144hz monitor does help quite a bit, but it's far from perfect. I still had quite a bit of tearing in many games.
  5. Battlefield 3 and 4 almost require an SSD. It makes a world of difference for load times in those games.
  6. I have not. I'll check it out at least on Wind Waker on Dolphin. If you honestly cannot see screen tearing, I can't imagine that removing it would benefit you. But I would urge you to see an eye doctor
  7. Well I do hate to speculate. I'm unbiased in the fanboy war between AMD and Nvidia fanboys (as if simply writing that is enough to make either side believe me *sigh*...) so please take my opinion at face value. First off, Mantle and G-Sync are two completely different things. Looking at the end results of each, Mantle offers more FPS (I haven't seen benchmarks yet, so I'm just going to assume it works as advertised and gives a significant boost in performance), while G-Sync offers tearing and jitter free gaming. As far as a revolution goes... I'm going to have to give this one to Nvidia. The concept of a low-level API and an increase in performance is by no means a new idea, nor is it really surprising to me. One massive downside to it is that the API will have to gain some serious traction if it only becomes as common as something like PhysX, I don't see it as being a game changer for any reasonable shopper. I think that's rather punishing for early adapters. The main reason I give this to Nvidia is that replacing V-Sync (which is simply flawed by design) seems to be a much more innovative step for gaming in general. There are other ways besides Mantle to add performance to your games, but there are no other options besides G-Sync to remove tearing from a game without nasty side-effects.
  8. To be honest, it doesn't exactly "Wow" you. It just feels like something that should have always been there in the first place. It makes something that never should have been there in the first place just... disappear. I think that by itself speaks volumes for the value of G-Sync. I believe Nvidia has taken a significant step in the right direction.
  9. Thus far I haven't noticed any input lag. Battlefield has always been particularly horrid with V-Sync on as far as input lag so I've never been able to use it. Now I don't see any screen tearing at all and I have yet to experience input lag. More testing is required though.
  10. 1) The short answer is that it does what it promises. Comparing it to an upgrade in resolution doesn't really work since it has to do with refreshes and frame draws rather than the size of the frames 2) Now that you mention it, yes I will. 3) You have to be prepared to void the hell out of your monitor's warranty... but other than that, it was pretty strait forward. Nvidia provided some great step-by-step instructions with colored pictures for each step. Originally I was going to make an install guide as well, but I don't think I have much to add to Nvidia's provided booklet.
  11. Hey guys! As you may know, @LinusTech had a little giveaway with a few G-Sync modules a couple weeks back. I was one of the lucky winners, so I promptly ordered my VG248QE and waited patiently. The module arrived fresh from Nvidia on New Years Eve and I promptly slapped it in and started gaming. I have only had about 15 hours of game time with it and I have only used a handful of games so far so I'm not ready to write a full review just yet. In the meantime, does anyone have anything they'd like tested or perhaps covered in my review? Maybe a quick question or two? I promised some feedback on the module and that's what I plan to provide.
  12. I think it's a little silly to use a small SSD in such an expensive build and you definitely don't need two power supplies. A single, quality 850W would be plenty. I would suggest something from Corsair.
  13. You're very welcome! If you could post a spec list, I could start making some recommendations.
  14. I agree with everyone else here. There's plenty of people, myself included, who would be willing to help you get exactly what you need rather than just pointing out a pre-configured kit. If you're planning on going with custom liquid cooling, it should be tailored to your case and configuration specifically. If there's anything that's making you unsure about how to pick parts for yourself, feel free to ask.
  15. You can't go wrong with a Corsair RM750.
  16. You need to do a full wipe and reinstall before anything else.
  17. You probably already know this, but you're using extremely mismatched monitors. Things aren't going to work smoothly in Eyefinity like that.
  18. I didn't tighten up my MPC-655 enough after installing a Bitspower mod top. I had a nice little puddle in the bottom of my Cosmos after leak testing. Nothing was damaged
  19. You're thinking of the Cosmos or Cosmos II. To me, the 690 III seems to be overpriced. It just appears to be very unremarkable.
  20. For that price I REALLY like the Corsair 350D. It's well built and has an intelligent layout. The only problem with it is that it's mATX. Because the case is so large for an mATX, it feels like you're building in a much larger case
  21. I got an Asus VG248QE to go with the G-sync module that Linus let me have ... and a PS Vita. Amazon has a sweet deal on them right now. It's a Vita with 4 games for $190. ... and some anime. ... and a Metro electric duster. ... and a bunch of manga. Now I'm totally broke. I'm glad my family decided not to give presents this year lol.
  22. If you can't run MC without Optifine, there's no reason to not give it a shot... The likelihood of it dropping your FPS further is slim to none. It has only improved framerates on about 15 computers (that I have personal experience with). I'm not too sure what tea1337 is talking about.
  23. Install Optifine and hope for the best.
  24. That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about your hardware not having proper Windows 8.1 support. And an Asus rep will always advise against doing something that would normally void a warranty. Just look up a guide and follow it, avoid static, and don't lose your screws.
