  1. Ah yes, I like both of your ideas and yes, the HiFi's power button is a standby. Hacking a molex cable into a relay sounds like a good plan, just need to test that standby button. The problem with cutting power off completely is that when the HiFi powers on again it doesn't default into the Aux but instead the untuned FM radio..... I'm not opposed to purchasing new audio gear if it gets me what i want
  2. I'm happy with my audio solution. I have a Sony HiFi constantly connected to my PC only ever outputting PC audio. But I hate having to turn on and off the HiFi..... I know, right? (it's under the table) Is there an audio solution that will turn on and off with my PC? I don't mind keeping the Sony speakers and I have thought about opening the HiFi up and connecting the power switch either to somewhere more convenient or to the PC itself. I am also open to alternatives and interesting solutions. (I thought about dismantling the HiFi down to it's Aux input only components and powering it with the PC PSU but I'm no experienced electrician) Thanks for reading!
  3. If they made it a bit thicker and gave it that amazing 2 day battery life, I'd buy it. That is, if the weight didn't also double at the same time.
  4. Stock firmware on the WRT610N: Firmware Version: 2.00.00 B05 Surfboard Modem Software Version: SB5100-2.3.1.6-SCM01-NOSH
  5. Sweet! that's given me access! Signal values are good: SNR 36dB Downstream Power level -1dBmV Upstream Power level 48 dBmV On another note, there is an option (already selected) for DHCP server. Does that mean (If I wanted to and/or it is determined that the router is the problem) I can connect an xclaim xi3 directly to the modem and be safe with less than 32 users?
  6. We've had this motorola surfboard for as long as I can remember (that's an exaggeration, more like 15 years). I don't think there is a web gui. If not, please help?
  7. My current router - a Linksys WRT610N connected to the ISP's cable modem (Motorola surfboard SB5100i) - seems to lose internet connection frequently and I have to manually renew the IP address via the web gui or power cycle the modem. I'm on the verge of replacing the router with something else. Do I replace the modem, router or both? We are a family of 4 and we have about 16 WiFi devices at any one time. Reception is pretty good with the current router located in the rough centre of the house, except for the furthest room from the router where it is a bit spotty. ISP is Telstra cable in Australia. Linus' strong recommendation of the xclaim xi3 is tempting but I'm not sure if I'll also need a new router as well (if it is the router that is at fault here). Thanks for reading!
  8. Oh man, that keyboard is swiiiish! I like the black lettering on the black keys. The keyboard would have to be the nicest in my opinion.
  9. I'd love to use a NUC to stream and steam box to my non-existent TV
  10. Oh man, I'd love me some True Quiet fans. Never quite got to the silent part of my silent gaming rig.
  11. The amount of customisation is nice to see from a big manufacturer. Definitely my favourite thing.
