Better but depends on which mobo. But yes the headset only works as its own DAC when used with USB

The manual doesn't make it clear, but I would suggest that the DAC is USB only.

That said it's possible that ASUS sends the analog signal through the dac for DSP.

Just because it can bottleneck a little at 1080p, you'll still have better performance at 1080p than at a higher resolution. Bottleneck doesn't necessarily mean worse performance.
What you need is more Ram, 8GB is short these days.

I'd recommend to just force V-Sync on through the GPU driver. I'm running it like that for 5+ years by now and haven't run into a game that has issues by now. There's nothing to optimize, it's just a forced fps cap at the monitor's refresh rate. And some games even cap the fps to 60 when using V-Sync, even though your monitor is 144Hz. So just enable it in the driver, then disable it in the games you play.

It's also recommended to set a global fps cap in your GPU driver that's 1 fps or so lower than your refresh rate. Even when your game is showing 144 fps, it can occationally jump to 145 and go out of the G-Sync window. So that's what the lower fps cap counteracts.

If you have specific games where you don't want your fps capped, then go into the application specific 3d-settings and disable the fps cap and v-sync for that specific game.

This is no longer true for the latest generation of VA panels used in the Samsung Odyssey G7 series and higher.
The VA panel viewing angle is still not as good as IPS, but the color quality is comparable or even better, and ghosting is not an issue anymore.

Then don't say "VA monitors", but "G7 monitors", since only those are good. You're talking about quite expensive models when most people go for budget oriented ones, and there are tons of 1440p curved VA monitors.
The others all have ghosting, the color vibrancy is superior on the IPS, no matter how well you try to calibrate a VA.

Thanks for the reply; it is and it's what I have done, but I'm looking for a way for the programs to be terminated after launching minimized.
I'm basically looking for an automated "open task manager, select the program, hit 'end task'."

They probably need to be started to apply the settings, but OP wants to then close them as they don't need to be kept running afterwards.

I have Razer Synapse, RGBFusion, and a few other programs on startup to set RGB and profiles on my pc/peripherals, and I'm wondering if there's something I can download, configure, etc. that would close these programs automatically after they've launched.

    Here you go:

This should also work with Windows 11. or you can do it through the monitors menu, if possible or the software that came with the monitor itself, you may be able to get this from your monitors manufacturers website, again, if they have one.

For HDR it's irrelevant. In HDR you're normally using the wide gamut either way.

A calibrated VA monitor will have the same colors as a calibrated IPS monitor. That's the point of calibration. To bring every monitor to the same reference accuracity.

Say both the VA and the IPS support ~100% sRGB and both are calibrated to sRGB, then the VA will look better because of it's contrast advantage. Plus, the VA monitor will be able to display more details in the dark parts of a screen.

VA is simply the best-looking LCD tech, which is also why it's by far the most used technology in TVs.

A 120% sRGB monitor has a wider color gamut, so it will look more saturated than 100% sRGB. IPS, TN or VA doesn't matter. (As long as the color gamut remains unclamped) However, more saturated =/= more accurate.

Bias lighting won't improve IPS blacks. It will maybe make the perceived contrast a bit higher, but you still don't get the dark details you get in other techs like VA. IPS "black" will always be gray, not matter how bright your environment is. You NEED FALD to get IPS to display anywhere near black.

The reason why the ICC profile makes the VA monitor in the OP washed out is likely because it's clipping too much. ICC profiles are created on a specific monitor. Unit to unit variance is a thing in monitors. So as soon as you use an ICC profile made on another monitor, you're bound to run into issues like this.

Another possibility is that the 99% sRGB IPS monitor has oversaturated red, but not green or blue, so the "weird" colors OP is experiencing don't show in numbers like the sRGB coverage.

Without a calibration device it's not really possible to tell if the VA or the IPS monitor displays the correct red value and all we can do is speculate. For that reason it's (imo) worth it to invest in something like a "Calibrite Color Checker display" when you're at all concerned about accuracity. This way you don't need to worry about factory calibration anymore. In most apps you will benefit from a correct white point and gamut clipping. In color managed apps you will even have reference-level color accuracity.

You first need to see if that is EVEN possible, and ask what is/are the policies around that.
Your University's IT Dept. could totally lock the Ethernet port down, so it won't work with Routers / Switches, etc.
My University did that, and they can disable / fudge around with the port settings remotely, and cut you off.

I used to work for the IT Dept while I was doing my Engineering undergrad.
There was one or two cases where a student brought in a router (or something) and hooked up their own wireless printer to it.
He/she then shared the password to a bunch of other students....router got compromised, and it let a whole bunch of sh!t onto the Student Rez / Dorm network.

So here is a fun one I noticed that something looked off on my daily LTT viewings , colors are washed out on Chrome, brave and edge (left)  but are fine on Firefox (right)

I am on Windows 11 and have a dell s2721dgf  with the ICC profile installed, 10bit is on in Nvidia but I have HDR off on the monitor because its only HDR 400 , messing with 8bit/10bit  changed nothing.

Some Google Foo found stuff about washed out colors and flipping on Force color profile to sRGB/sRGB Linear  in chrome/brave to fix this , the only thing that did work was to change the profile to "HDR 10 (HDR when available)"

I'm super curious as to why this is happening since HDR isn't even on , If I understand correctly (monitors/color spacing is not my area of expertise) HDR would allow 10 bit color so that might be why but wouldn't SRGB do the same ?
