  1. Sorry I'm kind of a audio noob. I think I may pick up a Xonar DG/DGX it's cheap, so why not? I also notice no one seems to like the new Z series?
  2. I tried it through the back, although the headphones weren't as loud (ALC892 might have some sort of volume boost for the front panel) there was no audible noise that I could hear. I also use a set of Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speakers through the rear output,so getting to the back of my PC is slightly annoying. I have a CM HAF922 for a case, but there mustn't be enough noise protection as well as those wires are quite thin. Is there a difference between the DG and DGX besides the DGX being PCI-E x1? I'm also still considering the Z,if it is at all worth the $120.
  3. An amp would make a difference even with low impedance headphones? I see that the DGX has 150 ohm headphone amp,the SB-Z has a 600 ohm amp. Would a 600 ohm amp over power a set of 38 ohm rated headphones? Edit: Looking at the Z without its fancy cover sure reminds me of the Recon3D,which was claimed to be a terrible sound card for anything but gaming.
  4. No, the front panel. Would a sound card help with the interference noise?
  5. I'm looking to get a decent soundcard,I recently purchased a set of ATH-M50's and now realize how bad the ALC892 is on my Gigabyte 890GPA-UD3H is. The onboard seems to produce a high pitched noise whenever I move my mouse, and sometimes when there is HDD activity. I game, watch movies/videos,and play music,so a soundcard does everything well would be ideal if one even exists. I came across two in the $100ish USD range...How do the Asus Xonar DX and the Soundblaster Z compare with each other? Any other recommendations would be appreciated!
