  1. I unfortunately threw out the box a few years ago. It will take quite a large box to fit it.
  2. Hi All, My first pc was built in a HAF-X and I was looking at eBay for pricing, but wow the shipping of around $100. I just wonder how people package these safely. Before selling mine just finding a box that seems sturdy enough seems tough. Anyone have any tips?
  3. Hi All, I am finally disassembling my original pc due to it just being old and I don't game on PC anymore. I was looking at my old motherboard on eBay and why are people paying up to 100 including shipping for a used X58A-UD3R rev 2.0?
  4. Nice find. Can you post a screenshot, I can't even get to see the page for more than a few seconds before I get the warning.
  5. I'm replying late because they just got back to me, it's when their Breville toaster turns on the lights get brighter and dimmer. I had them try multiple outlets and we know one of them is really messed up so they changed outlets. The bulbs that keep dieing are Philips brand 150 watt but I use the same ones at my home no issues for years so maybe those bulbs are more sensitive? The light fixtures are all new. Also they are located in NY. Landlord paid for all outlet and light switches to be replaced inside and outside of apartment along with the person claiming to replace the ground in electrical box for the apartment and it's 110V.
  6. Hi All, Have a friend at an apartment where when they turn on some appliances the lights get brighter and dimmer so something is up with the electric. Yes they told the landlord and they had someone come and the claimed to have changed the ground, but still happens. Their concern is their TV and pc dieing they could care less about the appliances going as that's their problem. I was doing some quick reading on UPS's is there a specific line or model type that helps deal with these issues so their TV and PC aren't affected? They've mysteriously had multiple bulbs die in less than 30 days so something is up.
  7. Hi, Does anyone have an idea of any chemicals to dissolve or soften the silicone gasket used on the PS3 Cell and the Thermal adhesive used on the RSX? I figured since thermal adhesives are sometimes used on PC components maybe someone may know a better method than using a razor blade alone. I had come across Ifixit's adhesive remove, but it appears to be acetone. Is acetone safe on a BGA or motherboard or CPU/GPU die? https://www.ifixit.com/Store/Tools/iFixit-Adhesive-Remover/IF145-400?o=4
  8. Doing some testing with the stock cooler passively. So far so good. Max temp 56. Replaced original thermal paste with MX-2.
  9. Hi, I want to reuse my i5 8400 in a smaller form factor by using a H310 motherboard and smaller case. The one question I have is does a board exist from Gigabyte, ASUS etc that has a small onboard speaker for audio not just post codes like some prebuilt PC's have? Currently using a M720s but want a near silent build with a passive power supply.
  10. That was an oversight on my part, would something like a Arctic 12 be appropriate without the top housing on? https://www.amazon.com/ARCTIC-Alpine-12-Passive-Silent/dp/B07CZZZ4DQ
  11. Hi, I was thinking of making my Dell 3060 Micro passively cooled. I can't tell, but does anyone know if the mounting spacing for this model is normal? I would just run it without the top cover and put this 1U server passive Dynatron block on with some MX-2 or do you guys suggest a different thermal paste solution? Or would you suggest leaving a cover and putting some spacing between the cover and the inside to create less dust? I don't see a backplate listed? https://platinummicro.com/dynatron-k129-1u-passive-cpu-cooler-for-intel-socket-1156-1155/ https://www.amazon.com/Heatsink-K129-Xeon3400-LGA1156-Lynnfield/dp/B004HSSZIA
  12. If you listen it's like a ticking noise. The fan is spinning very slowly.
  13. Hi, The fan is barely spinning in my case. That sucks though that it killed your system. 20210113_160534.mp4
  14. Hi, I have a Thinkcentre that uses cheap bearings that are louder than the CPU fan and hard drive. Would it be safe to replace the 80mm fan with a noctua 4 pin fan and run the Power off the motherboard header? If the power supply got too hot wouldn't it shut down? It's a basic i3 system doing mostly excel and web browsing. Lenovo sent a replacement PSU from a different company and the bearings are even louder than the first. Meanwhile a Dell 3470 that this was supposed to replace has a quieter 60 mm PSU fan so it's just Lenovo using inferior parts in my opinion. I replaced the CPU fan with a low profile Noctua cooler and it's silent. The Hard drive will be replaced with a SSD.
  15. Bit of a odd question. I got the replacement power supply and lenovo first sent me a replacement CPU heatsink and the second brand uses even louder bearings. I'm giving up on the M720s and reviewing all options but wondering what you guys think of replacing the stock 80mm fan with a noctua fan and running the Power for the 4 pin noctua off a motherboard header?
  16. Interesting forgot about those. Is your celeron active or passively cooled?
  17. Interesting, my micro pc was pretty loud. Maybe I got a dud.
  18. Hi, I've been on the search for the quietest pre-built sff pc from a major brand for work. I basically want silent. I installed a Noctua CPU cooler In a lenovo thinkcentre but the PSU fan bearings are really loud. I tried a HP SFF micro PC and a Dell Micro PC. The Dell is pretty much almost there, but lacks the expandability. The lenovo thinkcentre M720 seemed perfect on paper. How's the HP equivalent SFF business PC's if you guys have tried it? I'll always use a Noctua CPU cooler so I guess my question is who makes a SFF pc with a silent or near silent power supply fan? I am fine with a i3 as I just do excel and other boring non intensive tasks. I'd just like to be able to add extra 2.5 inch SSD's or PCI based SSD's as storage prices drop over time hopefully. Also almost forgot I need to have the option for natively have 3 video outputs. Dell and HP have the little expansion boards for extra ports for $30-45 which I am fine with.
  19. Hi, I have a lenovo thinkcentre under warranty with Onsite that has a bad fan bearing I believe as even though the fan speed is slow it makes a ticking noise. Firstly lenovo support sucks compared to Dell. I just used dells support as my other pc a 7060 micro inboard displayport died. Dell offered on site due to warranty purchase but I asked about DIY and they next day mailed a replacement motherboard. They were actually easy to deal with. Lenovo was a complete broken English nightware via chat as the email option on their website simply refused to accept any more tickets. Doing chat with lenovo there is no timer or estimate just a number of people in front of you. Once you are finally done if you literally don't type within a minute they close chat. This happened twice. Then third rep stopped responding after taking my details. 4th time I got someone writing in broken English and they said because I had Onsite and not the lower depot warranty they wouldn't ship parts, I could drop off the pc or have someone come on site. Ultimately I got a vague promise of someone coming to do outdoor comouter repair as due to Covid I don't want anyone in my office or home. They said someone will call me for 3 business days once they get the part and gave no window as to how long the part will take to arrive 5 days 30 days etc. This is a pathetic joke. Now I'm in limbo. I might just get it fixed and sell it at a loss. 3 hours total to try to get things sorted with many awkward pauses vs less than 10 minutes for dell. Next time I'll go with Dell if possible even thought the lenovo design has more expansion.
