  2. Thanks both pawan and Nedy pawan, all i need is for the dt880's to do on my onboard sound is have better sound quality than the sennheiser hd 201's im currently using ($30 headphones), do you think that would be achieved (with a reasonable volume)? also with the dac / amp combo my right ear has slightly less hearing ability than my left so in my realtek audio software i have to have the right/left slider slid 1 or 2 points to the right for the sound to be centered in my head so i need to be able to use my onboard dac or at least something with a right/left balancer. Yeah thats what i was thinking Nedy, get them now and they'll be alright and then unlock their potential when I can afford to buy a decent amp
  3. I was previously using Beyerdynamic DT 440's (32 ohm) which sounded great on the onboard sound with my Asus P8Z77-V. unfortunately these have a design floor and have broken twice and now i am out of warranty with a broken headphone. There is a Massdrop for the DT880's atm that will save me $150 vs buying locally. I've looked up reviews and people seem to hate on the 32 ohm version so I'm just wondering if the 250 ohm version will be fine on my onboard sound? I will be able to get an amp in the future but not for quite a while.
  4. Ah ok. Leaning more towards the dell now. When I said "competitive shooters" I mean I play in a competitive manner but I don't play in proper competitive matches so i guess the fastest of response times aren't a huge necessity. Do you think the Asus would have a large enough input lag that it would be noticeable and or game play affecting in fast shooters?
  5. Thanks for the suggestion, just watched a couple videos about it and it does look quite good I'm still keen on the idea of 1440p though and the soft touch buttons of the dell throw me off a little because I build systems for people a fair bit and have had problems with reliability with soft buttons on monitors. This new monitor will likely be my main monitor for about 5 years so I would rather hard buttons but none the less if I can't save up enough to get a $600 monitor then this looks like a good option. also how did you get your system specs to show up at the bottom of your post?
  6. I am currently using a crappy Acer V243HQ which is a TN panel and in general just isn't that great of a monitor. Recently I've got into photography and with shooting in raw I'm loving the flexibly of editing however when I edit on this monitor the final result always looks a bit different on other screens such as my sisters iPad with its nice apple IPS screen. I would like to get something with much more accurate colours and and a resolution bump up from 1080 wouldn't hurt either. I play a decent amount of games including competitive twitch shooters so the panel can't be too slow either. My system is powerful enough to drive 1440, I have a 7970 and I'm not fussed if I have to play on medium or low details to get 60fps. The ASUS PB278Q has caught my eye and I was wondering if this is a good choice and if there is anything else that is worth having a look at that for the same price or less (nothing more expensive, ill have to spend absolutely no money for at least 4 months to get this as i'm a uni student with no job ) Thanks
  7. I like the general awesomeness of this phone vs my galaxy s2, also dat 720p 120fps mode, i would use it literally everyday and taking photos and video underwater would be pretty dam cool.
  8. I'm building a system for a friend soon and his main priority is video editing. He will be using the adobe suite cs6, mainly Premiere, After Effects and Photoshop but on occasion other programs. The specs that count at the moment are: CPU: I7 4770k (will be overclocking) GPU: Gigabyte GTX 760 Windforce OC RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) Mobo: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-D3H SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 256GB HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB Will 32gb ram make enough of a difference to justify the extra $200? or if he gets more money by the time he wants to buy the pc would it be a better idea to get a larger ssd instead of more ram?
  9. I have played a fair bit of unreal tournament. Look I don't think cod is a bad game and I find it fun so can someone please just answer my initial questions about the US steam key on an Australian steam account.
  10. Sooo what COD game is there to get if Ghosts is so bad? The problem with mw1 and 2 is that the community is really small now so you cant just find a game when ever you want, thats why ghosts would be the best bet in that regard because there are a lot of people playing it. Also it doesnt matter that its not actually the same people making the game, I have played ghosts for about half an hour and it has the same "feeling" as mw2, unlike the blops games, so it will fit both of our comfort zones for how to play the game if that makes sense.
  11. If you look at the call of duty ghosts link i put in my first post then you would have seen that steam is required to activate meaning that it is a steam key, not their drm. I have bf3 and many other games, just my best friend and I LOVE mw2 and have played it forever, dont judge me, and well he got VAC banned for mw2 the other day because he used some hacks like 6 months ago so we thought we would try a different cod, and as ghosts is made by the same people as mw2 then it has a similar feel which means we can basically just play it and it be fun (only interested in the multiplayer) and i dont have much money but $32 US is within my budget so gamefly looks compelling to me as long as they key works with my AU account
  12. I'm going to get call of duty ghosts pretty soon and gamefly has a sale on at the moment as well as a discount code (GFDDEC20) so I can get it for $32 US. I live in Australia and that is fine because hotspot shield works a treat for getting around the region block however I was wondering if there would be any problem with me using a US steam key on my Australian steam account?
  13. The Wii U has only got HDMI out, nothing else so the monitor has to deal with the audio. Thanks Coombzy
