  1. So, this has happened twice now. and I am SO confused. I have the following home server set up: -i7 3770 -Intel Desktop Board of some sort -12GB DDR3 -128GB SSD -2x 1TB WD Blue I've got Windows Server 2019 installed on it and it works fine. It functions as my Ubiquiti Control Server, a NAS, Print server and Minecraft server. It's in my closet without a monitor attached to it, only ethernet and power. I have it configured so I can access it from RDP on my MacBook or iPad. Suddenly though, I can't login anymore. Password that worked fine before, is now rejected. I have tried restarting, trying caps/no caps, nothing. I have to completely reinstall Windows. Is it possible that someone has hijacked it? there's an inbound and outbound firewall exception on port 25565 (Minecraft)
  2. first time back on here in ages. having some major nostalgia here, I wish I never left. Damn you, school stress! Quite some things have changed! I think the prime example of my change is the fact that I’m typing this off a 2018 15” MBPtb.... But then I walk into the closet connected to my room to see drawers with motherboards, boxes of hard drives, PCIe cards, CPUs, sticks of ram in their trays, and I think, did I really change all that much?

  3. Completely forgot to mention them indeed, I have a soft spot for Volvo since my dad has an ‘03 V40 2.0 Sports Ed. Navi, completely stock, basically a time capsule from 2003, and i think it looks pretty damn good. Relatively reliable too. GTIs are very expensive here, and often far from stock which i like. The petrol A3s are a bit harder to find, but I’ll remember to keep an eye out for them. And boy do I like SAABs. I forgot I can get a 9-3 or 900 for a really good price here, with not too many KMs, So I think those are gonna be put on my shortlist.
  4. Hey guys! I need some car recommendations and I thought, LTT has a very nice community.. I’m almost 17 years old which means I’ll be able to get my driver’s license and drive with someone over 25 in the passengers seat till I’m 18 years old. I’m quite the car enthousiast, always loved cars and so when I turn 17 I want to buy myself a fun and cheap car that’s going to stay for at least a year, because if I really need a car for uni my mum will buy/lease me a decent new car. Car will be registered as a diplomatic vehicle, won’t be paying any taxes, be it road tax or taxes on the fuel, which means I can get a car with any engine and fuel type (so diesel or petrol, not gas because LPG is banned in many parking garages here in the Netherlands) Also, a car that I can work on myself a bit would be awesome. And no real size limit in terms of the car itself, although my mum would prefer for me to get a small/medium sized car “because beginners always make small mistakes with parking etc and a big car won’t help with that” budget is about 1500-2000 euros at max. Will probably look at 1500 euro range the most. Cars I was looking at: (as long as they run, it’s fine. Cosmetics aren’t very important) Miata 1st gen (kinda out of budget tho) Mercedes W201 or 202 (Bruno Sacco <3) Golf/Bora V5 E36 3 series (it’s so hard to find these though without them being all effed up and modified) Audi A4 1st gen Audi A3 1st gen Alfa 156 / 147 Peugeot 406 Coupe Opel Signum Opel Omega (although my mum thinks it’s too large) also, the Opel Omega is basically a European version of the caddy Catera. yes, my taste is weird and not superb, and most importantly not limited to one size or type of car, but I’m working on a budget here... Currently really into the Bora V5, simple but has potential, Audi A3 (would be a 1.9TDi because those are invincible and cheap) and the Alfa 147 but that one is probably gonna be in the garage often, getting fixed Any recommendations? Thanks in advance!
  5. Im probably going to get a 1070ti, which is about 650 euros here, 800 dollars. I was asking myself because I hear people have no problems with an haswell i5 and even 1080s. For now, I just want best in game performance. So I’m guessing for 1440p a GPU first is the best way to go?
  6. Hi guys, I've been contemplating the switch to a new CPU platform lately, and I've decided to upgrade to Coffee lake in a couple of months, I'm on Haswell with an i5 4460 now. the question is, shouldn't I upgrade my GPU first? It's a 780, and I think it's the part holding me back the most, certainly because I just got a 1440P monitor. I was thinking about the GTX 1070 or 1070 Ti. I don't play alot of games, But I want my GPU to hold up well for at least a couple of years just like my 780 from 2013. Is the Ti version worth the extra cash? And is it right for me to upgrade my GPU first? Thanks in advance for your replies! Matthew
  7. Thanks for the replies! I’ve decided to slowly start upgrading my build. Ive decided to invest in Some lighting, since my case wasn’t equipped with any. Bought some Corsair LL fans and a lighting node pro. Next up will be the CPU or MoBo and CPU. I saw some second hand Xeon 1240 v3s for about 150 euros, so that may be worth it for a year until I decide to move to the 1151 or 2066 platform.
  8. Hi guys! I have some doubts about if I should upgrade my build or nah. I built it in 2014 and it’s a fine machine, but I think I want to change some things, even if I don’t really use it much anymore. Right now the specs are; Gigabyte Z97 D3 Intel Core i5 4460 3.2GHz HyperX Fury 1866 DDR3 8GBs MSi GTX 780 Gaming 3G NZXT Kraken x31 Corsair CX500M Crucial MX100 256GB SSD ( I keep all my large files on a NAS) Now, I rarely play any games anymore, so I think I can keep the 780 around. The i5 is starting to get on a bit, and I edit some video from time to time, so here’s the thing. Do I buy a new Z370 mobo and get an 8600K and new RAM or do I keep my current mobo and get a 4790(K) for it, along with another 8GB stick of RAM? I can even OC it with my mobo and X31. Haswell is still a capable platform and so I think that wouldn’t be the worst of ideas. Opinions? Thanks in advance! matthew
  9. Rolls Royce Silver Seraph, Phantom, Ghost, Daimler Super Eight, Jaguar. XJ(350) Bentley Turbo R, Bentley Flying Spur, Mulsanne, Continental GT, Rover 75, and plenty of others I can’t think of right now. Mostly a German car type of guy, but you have to admit that the British build some excellent cars.
  10. Last tech purchase? A 10.5 inch iPad Pro. Needed something lightweight and practical for school. Had it for about 2 months now, it's great!
  11. If it ends up still being crap, i’ll probably end up buying a UAP A-C Lite from ubiquiti, the second Floor is only my room and a Lite should suffice for 30 square meters.
  12. Hi Guys! Thanks for all the replies, will look into it when i get home later today. I’ll check if the APs are all on WPA2-PSK, and check all the settings on the Netgear. I don’t use the 2.4GHz band basically, there are one or two legacy devices on there that don’t support 5GHz but those are fixed in place and don’t matter
  13. Hey guys! I recently moved houses, and even though the surface area is identical, the walls in this house are extremely, extremely thick, and made of of bricks, even the inner walls. So the problem was, one AP won't suffice. So i made some changes, and now i have an AP on ever floor. 1 Ubiquiti AP AC Pro on the ground floor, the same on the first floor, and for the second floor, i had a Netgear EX7000 laying around so i put that one there. i set them all up, they all have the same name, and even though roaming between the 2 ubiquiti’s is perfect (it’s basically their selling point), roaming between the first floor AP and the 2nd floor one is bad. Really bad. My devices will hang on to the first floor ap like their life is depending on it, and i have to switch myself. then the second problem; even though they all have the same name, my network name shows up twice in the wifi menu of my devices, even though it’s the same! The ubiquiti devices will show up under the name, then there’s what I’m sure is the netgear one in the list, even though they all have the same name. Why could this be the case?? thanks for your help in advance.
  14. My grandma finally replaced her ‘06 Sony Bravia because the bearing for the cooling fan was worn out and was making a horrible racket. It needed replacing anyway, so she got a Samsung Qled TV, and those are really neat, and after a couple of weeks she understood everything and now even uses the “Uitzending Gemist” app. The Samsung Smart interface is great. now, my grandma is very intrigued by technology and manages to figure out a lot of things on her own, so that may not be the case with you. I’d take a look at them though.
