AlTech got a reaction from LeisureguardSecurityuk in What are the chances of minimum wage being lowered or removed in the next 70 years?
Also, I forgot to mention something.

In Asia, there's a lot of people who are given low level and low skill jobs to ensure that they do not end up in the streets.

Security guards are a good example. Some security guards have probably never had to deal with a criminal in their life. They are paid a basic wage to protect people.

AlTech got a reaction from Wasabi.jp in Star Citizen scaling back plans and no longer posting long term target dates
Nobody was defrauded though. People bought a game being developed. It's just taking longer than expected for it to release.

And good thing too because otherwise some software and some games might not be created in the first place.

People didn't buy into Star Citizen on the idea that it would release at a certain date. Games these days are notorious for delayed release dates.  It's almost uncommon for a game to ship on time these days.

I guess under your interpretation we would need to charge most of the gaming industry with fraud.

AlTech got a reaction from KENZY9 in Will ryzen 5 5600g cause any bottleneck to a rtx 4070?
5600G is still Zen3. It just has less cache than normal Zen3.

If you're deadset on using a 4070 then the 5700X is the way to go.

But most people should avoid the 4070. As @Tomberry mentioned the 6800XT is a better choice with more VRAM and a lower price.

AlTech got a reaction from benny_r_t_2 in Google proposes turning browsers into DRM software for the web | Ending AD Blocking for all browsers
    Summary

Unsatisfied to allow 3rd party browser makers besides Google to override Manifest V3's neutering of ADs, Google has initiated a new proposal to end AD Blocking forever.

Their proposal is called "Web Environment Integrity" and essentially means websites will be able to query web browsers to ask if they have had their Environment Integrity Verified, meaning that a Browser needs to verify that the User is using a device that is approved by the Attester in order to access the website.

Attesters will be OS or Browser based and will give Websites a verification value based on factors about the device and the web browser being used

For Android, running a rooted device will provide a value indicating it is not verified.

Browsers that don't implement this may simply not function with websites relying on a Verification value.

There has been no guidance on who will be Attesters

It is expected that attestation services provided by Google may consider any amount of AD blocking worthy of triggering a low verification value essentially meaning the environment won't be trusted by the website.

Put simply if a website requires this they can force you to disable AD blocking in order to view the website and if you don't then you won't be able to use the website.

This could also extent to using phones after they stop getting security updates, using unpopular or unofficial browsers, using devices with custom OSes or firmware.

The browser becomes the DRM engine.

Forget about slippery slope, this is jumping off the side of a cliff and only if you support Google will you get a parachute that opens. Otherwise your chute won't.

AlTech got a reaction from Nup in AMD rumoured to have cancelled top die Navi 4C due to complications and also Navi 4C diagram leaked
Yes. Navi 44 (replacement for N24 and N33) and N43 (N32 replacement) are expected to be monolithic dies.

There's no N42 or N41 cos of this cancellation.

Speculation is that N44 will be 6nm around 200mm2 die and N43 will be 3nm and be slightly better than 7900XTX perf at significantly reduced power but neither have been leaked or rumoured.

AMD does have big chips but they're for datacenter and AI stuff.

The aim eventually for AMD is to be able to Radeon GPUs the way they make Ryzen CPUs: A truly chiplet based arch instead of the current GPU chiplet approach.
Because it is cheaper and more efficient to do so. Going bigger is more expensive on monolithic and in the future it will be technically challenging as well.

The reticle limit of a node isn't infinite and it's easier to package small dies into a number of different configurations e.g. using Zen CCDs from Ryzen all the way to Threadripper and Epyc whilst using mostly the same or exactly the same core design except for Zen4c and Zen5c which are different.

AlTech got a reaction from ImWilly in AMD rumoured to have cancelled top die Navi 4C due to complications and also Navi 4C diagram leaked
    Summary
AMD is rumoured to have cancelled Navi 4C (aka Navi41) and the diagram of Navi 4C has also been leaked. Navi 4C's alleged cancellation is because of complications caused by Navi 4C's new architecture of CUs inside Shader Engine Dies housed on top of Active Interposer Dies which themselves are housed on Package Substrate. and the massive scaling of chiplet usage in the architecture.

AMD is believed to have diverted employees working on Navi 4C towards Navi 5 so that Navi 4 can be released in 2024 with Navi 5 launching in 2025.
