  1. So, you've probably noticed I'm not as active here anymore.

It is disappointing to see the LMG drama has been forgotten about so quickly/swept under the rug.

I'm not gonna be checking the forum much anymore and I will be elsewhere though the CS prevents me from stating all the places I'll be at.

I'm on the (Unofficial) MOTF Discord so you can talk to me there if you want to.

      1.  I suppose there is the point I made that, while the prototype bungling was ugly in a PR sense, more expensive mistakes have been made.  (I attribute the decision to quit for a week to be more about the Madison info & overblown war with GamersNexus.)

      2.  As for the Madison thing, when the internet mobs realize they can't have all the info they want due to legal protections, they tend to lose interest.  Quickly.  I would say it's unfortunate, but it's actually a good way to separate those who have an agenda from those who actually give a shit.  Those who have an agenda give up when they realize there won't be any witch burnings today.  Those who don't...well, they remember it and they act however they see fit.

What do you want? Should everyone just be mad for the next year or so? How does that help anyone?... wtf is wrong with people...

  2. I use Thunderbird and have over a thousand emails in total within it. It doesn't run badly for me. Search takes a few seconds but that's normal when you have lots of emails.
  3. AMD wars in BF2042 when? or does AMD not exist in this timeline?

Tried the Blue Raspberry Prime Hydration drink…

The price? I wouldn't buy it again, it was just a one off to see what it was like. Normal bottled drinks I go for are £1.20 to £1.30 if they're not scalped.
  6. Tried the Blue Raspberry Prime Hydration drink today and it was alright, if quite sweet. They really overdid the sweeteners.

I guess the consolation prize is it wasn't that expensive at £2.50 (relative to what other places charged) . I've seen it sold for £8 in other stores.

  7. Y'all haven't met but this is Ivy Bridge Mac Mini "Smallie".

The £70 late 2012 Mac mini from eBay.

Gonna set it up once the 16GB RAM kit comes. Mac Mini came with 8GB RAM.

I have an external HDD setup cos it only has 240GB SSD in it.

Those little Mac minis are great. I've got two 2012 models myself, one of which is serving as my Plex server. Very solid machine for how old it is.

Not unless you pay £3 extra per month.
  10. For Navi 4? Yes, 2024 will be a year with AMD mildly iterating over the current flagships. But they'll be back to Ultra Enthusiast Tier for Navi 5 in 2025.
  11. Looks like LMG's ordering a rather large serving of humble pie. Which is good. GN achieved it's goal with their videos.

Only time will tell if LMG is sincere about their changes being made or if this was a way to stop the metaphorical bleeding.

What does this do then? God damn YouTube’s ad service is getting more obnoxious, especially when they allow hours long videos as ads

Good for Billet for clearing things up and tryi…

*4090. But yes, that is what the block was meant for: 3090Ti. Which, good guy Billet sent LMG to help them review the monoblock prototype and LMG seems to have misplaced the GPU. On the day of the shoot they picked up the wrong GPU and didn't notice until the GPU was stripped down completely and then decided to continue anyways.
  13. They said they've already ordered a new one and it should be ready within the next few weeks.
  14. Good for Billet for clearing things up and trying to work to make things right.

They don't want the prototype back and they've explained why clearly and concisely. Let's hope LMG pays them the money they now seem to have agreed upon.

      Ah right 4090.

I'm surprised that misplaced and potentially missing GPU wasn't mentioned. That's another thousands of dollars piece of kit they lent just gone.

Also makes me question their SOPs for asset management and how they surplus items (whether disposal, auction, or store sales). In my opinion units and prototypes for review should also be tagged and tracked just like inventory they purchase themselves but flagged as such and with the agreed upon disposal method whether it's return to the vendor or LMG has free say. And also marked that those items cannot be altered or otherwise modified. When items are prepared for surplus, the warehouse team should've looked up the asset tag and made sure any special disposal instructions were adhered to.

Not saying they don't do that right now, I don't know. But if such procedures are in place, it's a major screw-up how the item either didn't get tagged, or the warehouse folks didn't check before sending it out the door. Not only is LMG's reputation among manufacturers for fair product evaluations put into question but also trust that the product will be returned in its original state is put into question. Who's to say if a review item or prototype didn't get auctioned off, it wouldn't have been cannibalized for one of LMG's projects. That's still a bad situation.

  15. The appearance of it means it doesn't mater whether or not there is any agreement in actuality or not. We will never know if Asus gives LMG big bags of money in exchange for a pass on some issues. It probably doesn't happen but we cannot 100% rule it out because of LMG's behaviour. Conflicts of interest are like this no matter the industry. It's not tech specific. LMG walked themselves right into this situation and nobody but LMG can get them out of it.
  16. I was referring to Asus sponsoring some GPU videos and seemingly getting glowing recommendations and an easy ride as a result.
  17. Now you're twisting my words. If you review restaurants and Dominos' sponsors a video from you. Can you review one of Dominos' pizzas? Sure, just not the food that Dominos' paid you to eat. If you do car reviews and VW sponsors a video about the ID.4 then you can still honestly review any Skoda car (owned by VW) and a VW car that hasn't had a sponsored video made by you for it.
  18. Not to the satisfaction of GN which is Steve's point. Other reviewers can't trust LMG to be honest in laptop reviews because Linus invested in Framework. This hasn't caused LMG to prevent Linus from evaluating laptops from Framework's competitors on camera for LMG channels. LMG gave Asus an easy ride on the Asus motherboard fiasco with AMD CPUs and LMG gave Asus the kind of blanket endorsement that never comes free. They ideally shouldn't but the reality of YTers funding their reviews means they need sources of revenue and they try hard to prevent it from biasing their reviews. It's also why many reviewers have a policy of not reviewing products that they've been sponsored by before or products that they had a hand in making. It's the appearance of a conflict of interest. HUB and GN have both said, LMG can't be trusted on laptop reviews because of this appearance of a conflict of interest. I'm not sure how this relates to anything GN has said or I have said. The appearance of a conflict of interest is just as bad as an actual conflict of interest. LMG has major conflicts of interest that they've done nothinnf about and GN took then to task for it when other smaller channels were too afraid to say it to LMG.
  19. The appearance of a potential conflict of interest is sufficient to cause doubts about the propriety of the relationship between Linus, Framework, Asus, and LMG. No, he reported conflicts of interest that LMG has either not considered or ignored. Is anything I have said wrong?
  20. Or unless what you're covering exists exclusively in the public in which case there's not a lot of point requesting for comment because A) the company will likely not respond except perhaps with a PR stock answer and B) the company may try to manipulate the situation as Linus has done in this instance.
  21. Yes, because among other things they are legally required to. The fact that some of them don't means they are breaking the law. Not unless LTT starts going easy on them in reviews for seemingly no reason. No. Many live off of merch or Patrons who give them money monthly, or rely on YT ad revenue. Not at all the same thing. If Linus buys shares in a company that LMG reviews products of, then Linus should not be involved in that video at all. Period. The appearance of a conflict of interest is enough to cause doubt about LMG's integrity Nothing Steve said wasn't backed up by evidence. LMG rushes videos: fact. LMG makes mistakes in virtually every video: fact. LMG sold a prototype that they had no right to sell: fact. LMG wasn't willing to spend a bit of extra time to make their videos accurately : fact. LMG made misrepresentations about the testing capabilities and performance of GN and HUB: fact. LMG made misrepresentations about Billet's prototype's capabilities: fact. Linus made misrepresentations about LMG's communication with Billet: fact. Linus made misrepresentations that LMG had material evidence which would have altered the Steve GN video, when it has been shown Linus had nothing further to add: fact.

Which is £10.99 per month, Gives Google Money, and gives Google your data. Unfortunately all the mainstream providers (Google, Spotify, Amazon, Apple, Deezer) have decided £10.99 is the new premium music streaming price.
