Ayyyy Lenovo received my complaint letter .
Now let's hope they decide to be nice people.

@Sauron This is about the Zombieload and Intel vulnerabilities saga. They may owe me a new laptop which doesn't have an Intel CPU in it because of how the law works.

@Sauron I'm not super knowledgeable about the subject. Because of the technicalities and details surrounding MDS how HT needs to be disabled for people to be safe.
A purchase from a retailer within the last 6 years should be fine but anything older is most definitely out of the question. The argument being made is that the retailer has a responsibility to make sure that products it sells are fit for purpose, as described, and of satisfactory quality. And the loss in performance from disabling HT may be substantial enough to be considered unfit for purpose and/or not as described.
Again, I'm not a laywer. This is not legal advice.
If Lenovo Online Store decide they won't give me a replacement then I will probably end up selling the T480 because Intel have screwed the pooch on this one.

I guess this is what you have to deal with when doing business ...
People complaining about a Intel failure a year down the road.
If they end up having to replace these I'm sure they'll sue Intel - after all they, too, bought a bunch of products that no longer run as advertised.
