When you process an order for an eBay Buyer within hours of getting the details. :P

And thanks to eBay I'll be getting my money on PayPal in 2 weeks ?. Despite the fact that PayPal normally transfers money to me from a non eBay buyer using paypal instantly.

Also, Paypal and eBay collectively taking a whopping £5.47 ?

This is why I don't like to sell on eBay. Takes too long to get my money and idk why eBay doesnt just run ads. Oh wait, they make a lot more taking 10% and taking a fee from using paypal.

@DrMacintosh What I've been doing to avoid eBay is:

    1. Post on LTT Classifieds before eBay (sometimes days before, sometimes hours before)
    2.  Offer reduced price on LTT Classifieds to incentivize purchase on here versus eBay (like £10-20 lower on LTT Classifieds than eBay)
    3. Ask too much money for an item on eBay (set initial price to something unreasonably high and wait for people to ask for lower price)

In the EU (or at least UK) Banks and Credit Card processors aren't allowed to charge the 30 cents equivalent for transaction fees. I think the cap is 2.75% in UK and possibly also EU.

Hey, they took my $150+ for 6 months, don't be complaining

*shrugs* You knew the fees going in. Don't bitch when you've chosen to use their service.

@ImplosiveNUTech That's not normal and is tantamount to robbery. At worst eBay is supposed to keep money for 30 days if you're not trusted enough.

This is reduced to 2 weeks if you dispatch quickly and including tracking info.

After eBay trusts you (read: around 100 transactions or more) you get the money instantly.

@dizmo at this point it's not so much a choice.

A choice would mean I could reasonably do what I want to do without eBay.

And that's simply not true. There is no real competitor to eBay outside of niche selling areas on websites.

A choice would mean that if a hypothetical website called memeBay existed and let you sell things and was similar to eBay, I would be able to totally switch away from eBay.

Don't try and feed me that bullshit.

There's tons of options. Local listings, a multitude of forums, Reddit, auction companies, etc. Or you could simply take the loss and not sell it at all.

You want to sell it, you chose to use eBay as the method. No one's making you sell your stuff, let alone on eBay.

I don't consider Craigslist an option. That's the wild west of online selling.

@CUDAcores89 As someone who's the flipside of your coin, I couldn't agree more ;) I've sold items purchased from eBay on "niche forums" and other venues for tens of thousands of dollars over the years.

I've recently spent quite a bit of time looking into selling on eBay, and their fees make what I want to sell a little less enticing. I'll still try it though.
Interestingly, if I sold 8 pallets of what I intend to sell, it'd actually be cheaper to open a staffed retail location for what eBay would be charging me in fees.

@AluminiumTech That's a personal choice, it doesn't mean there aren't other options for you to use.
