  1. Part 2's here lol. And I'm out of popcorn and fizzy drinks 😄

I listened to it earlier while driving, and I agree with Steve's thoughts about the response from Linus. Steve isn't sure that Linus actually understands the issues he's causing and isn't convinced that Linus is going to genuinely change for the better.

  2. Yes. Navi 44 (replacement for N24 and N33) and N43 (N32 replacement) are expected to be monolithic dies. There's no N42 or N41 cos of this cancellation. Speculation is that N44 will be 6nm around 200mm2 die and N43 will be 3nm and be slightly better than 7900XTX perf at significantly reduced power but neither have been leaked or rumoured. AMD does have big chips but they're for datacenter and AI stuff. The aim eventually for AMD is to be able to Radeon GPUs the way they make Ryzen CPUs: A truly chiplet based arch instead of the current GPU chiplet approach. Because it is cheaper and more efficient to do so. Going bigger is more expensive on monolithic and in the future it will be technically challenging as well. The reticle limit of a node isn't infinite and it's easier to package small dies into a number of different configurations e.g. using Zen CCDs from Ryzen all the way to Threadripper and Epyc whilst using mostly the same or exactly the same core design except for Zen4c and Zen5c which are different.
  3. True but it poses a thermal challenge which is why you can't stack them vertically on top of each other directly. Which is likely why the Navi 4C design called for spreading them out a bit horizontally and vertically.
  4. It's not just about money. It's about performance. At a certain point you run into the reticle limit where making a bigger GPU is no longer possible. Nvidia keeps inching towards it. AMD's steering well clear of it and wants to figure out how to scale GPUs to be a lot bigger without costing a lot more or running into the laws of physics. The problem right now is that the MCDs are separate but the GCDs are still really big dies that are effectively monolithic dies glued to the interposer layer with MCDs connected to it. If AMD can break down GCDs then their GPU designs can become more more scalable and much cheaper.
  5. I've completely watched this video and  I don't disagree with any of it.

LMG hould do the right thing and track down the new owner of the waterblock they weren't meant to sell and return it to the manufacturer who was the rightful owner.

    Something tells me they won't.

I've made some of my points in the LTT thread.

The responses from Linus are saddening. I can't say I expected LTT videos to be the most accurate or even the more technically correct but this saga highlights how LMG is likely causing more harm than good in the Reviewer/PC Gaming scene.

LMG seemingly can't be relied on for accurate information which is quite concerning when 2 of their channels are now dedicated to news content. LMG has a responsibility and they're not living up to it.

  6. So mediocrity is okay so long as it doesn't happen too often? The fact that LMG illegally sold something and yet no SOPs will be changed to prevent it happening again is negligent conduct. If this happens again one might even be able to make a legal case for theft due to reckless disregard for who owns what property which in and of itself is likely to be a criminal offence. I'm not even sure how it's possible for such an error to occur by accident because if you don't own an item you can't sell it without explicit permission. If the company providing a review sample wants it back, then it's not yours. If they say you can keep it then it may be yours to keep but you should still double check with them to see if they're okay with you selling it for a charity auction.
  7. LMG literally used the wrong GPU on the waterblock that Billet sent you. I'm not sure how this could be anything other than an accuracy issue. The waterblock was specifically for a 3090Ti. Waterblocks are not interchangeable across different GPUs much less even different board partner models of the same GPU. It does to the people with 3090Ti cards who would have benefitted from watching an accurate and objective video about a GPU block designed for 3090Ti cards. Instead it has caused untold reputational damage to the company and has likely cost them future sales as a result of the harm your video has done. Even if it performed as they advertised at around 20C lower than your temps? If you can't allow your conclusion to change based on the performance of the product then you're not honestly being objective or helping the community. A wise man once said words to the effect of: A delayed game is sometimes bad, a rushed game is always bad. The same applies to videos and other content where integrity matters. The rushed videos LMG has put out riddled with pre-upload and post upload corrections are signs that there is a serious lack of quality control at LMG. I'm not sure you even believe that but if you do then you give GN and other reviewers in the space far less credit than they give you. For a scrappy startup with 12 employees these seemingly endless amounts of mistakes may be tolerable if not still extremely disappointing. For a reasonably large company with 120 employees this is simply not acceptable. Making basic mistakes in seemingly every video and mass producing videos like it's chocolate isn't helping anybody except your bottom line. If that's the goal then great, scream it from the roof tops but if it is you shouldn't claim to care about the community or to be doing this for consumers. Furthermore, if you can't handle criticism about the company you partially own then frankly you should not own any part of a business.
  8. Gonna grab some literal popcorn real quick before I find out what y'all have been beefing about on GN's Video covering LTT.

I hope I won't be disappointed given the hyping up some of you have been doing 😛.

  9. Navi 4C's dead before it even launched.

Thiss what I expect Nvidia fanboys to say once the see this news: AMD is doomed. RDNA is a failure. Nvidia is our saviour. AMD's gonna go bankrupt........

  10. Summary AMD is rumoured to have cancelled Navi 4C (aka Navi41) and the diagram of Navi 4C has also been leaked. Navi 4C's alleged cancellation is because of complications caused by Navi 4C's new architecture of CUs inside Shader Engine Dies housed on top of Active Interposer Dies which themselves are housed on Package Substrate. and the massive scaling of chiplet usage in the architecture. AMD is believed to have diverted employees working on Navi 4C towards Navi 5 so that Navi 4 can be released in 2024 with Navi 5 launching in 2025. Image from MLID via Videocardz Quotes My thoughts Not gonna lie, looking at this insanely expanded complexity I am not surprised it got cancelled. I do hope that the rumours are correct and that AMD will be back making high end GPUs for Navi 5. Trying something out: Running the A52s 5G witho…

I am somewhat tempted to go dual Pixel 5 cos of how unwieldy the A52s 5G is. Battery life on the Pixel 5 is much much better. I think Qualcomm accidently made the 765G very efficient cos of only having 2 high perf cores. Most of the 7 series now comes with 4 high perf cores which is bad for battery life. And yet perf on it is great cos the main core is still 2.4GHz and the other perf core can be activated if needed. Also, it would save me a bit of a money.
  14. Trying something out: Running the A52s 5G without a case.

To see if it's easier on my pockets, and easier to use.

Fingerprint scanner on the A52s 5G is so bad lol. Pixel 5's fingerprint reader is at least twice as fast.

To be fair, GTA 5 is probably a big ask for it. I don't have a deck but if I had one I'd use it for lighter stuff only.

    Despite having a bigger battery, my A52s 5G los…

I mean Samsung also uses higher power chips cos they want to look better in benchmarks and for their customers to feel like they're getting their money's worth.
  18. Despite having a bigger battery, my A52s 5G loses battery noticeably faster than the Pixel 5.

Idk if that means the A52s 5G's battery is in a worse condition or if the SD 778G consumes a lot more power than the the SD 765G.

In theory the SD 765G should use less power cos it has 1 A76 core for Max perf, and 1 A76 core for high perf, with the A55 for low power stuff.

The 778G tho goes for the 1 + 3 +4 approach to Prime (A78), High Perf (A78), and Low Power (A55) which may lead to more power usage even tho the 765G should be able to use both A76 cores at once if need be. I suspect this doesn't happen often (if at all) since many things in Android care about single thread perf.

yeah, like having only 6 hours of active usage on a device meant to last all day.

And that is on warm room, if its 20 ambient its more like 3.5 to 4 hours on my Note 9.

Funny how no one talks about that, but meanwhile everyone seems to be hating on Google for their battery life, even tho Pixel 7 beats the iPhone 14 and my P7Pro lasted 8 hours with full brightness, GMaps and YT Music streaming without power saving mode.

  19. Lol. So I think I figured out why I have so many issues with Fiverr and payments.

The card networks don't seem to like Fiverr and have categorised Fiverr in a way that makes it harder for them to accept payments with Adyen.

  20. This is the one part about the Pixel 5 that I don't like: having to use a Dongle for my IEMs 😢.

TBF that's now another device that you have to keep track of and carry around, as well as recharge. For $80 I'd just cry myself to sleep with wireless headphones if it was my only option.

I bought a 3 pack of 3.5mm to USB-C dongles and have left them on all my headphones (Home, work, gym) so I dont lose them. I rarely need to charge my device while using my headphones, and if I do I can either use a wireless charger or I'll just go without for 1/2 hour while it quick charges during the day.

That's fair. Just throwing it out there as a way to leave the cable interfering with the phone. I'd assume most people enjoy keeping their phone in their pocket and using a wireless receiver like this allows you to clip it inside your shirt or wherever and still have full functionality of your wired IEM's.

Personally I'd rather just stick to wireless earbuds off the bat but in this picture all I see is wired IEM.

But on the same note, I don't really like ever plugging anything into my phone these days. (especially if you're out doing physical activity, last thing you want is to snap/bend/damage the connector/port.

That's one of the main reasons I liked having a 3.5mm jack and using wireleschargig whenever possible, as I kept my S8+ for 2-3 years, and the S10+ for 4 years. So I definitely plan on using the S23U for as long as I can (at least 3 years, ideally 4-5) and port wear is top of mind aside from battery life and screen wear (though my S10+ had nearly zero cracks or defects on it after four years with no screen protector and a Spigen tough armor case)

  22. Fiverr really must not like getting paid.

Tried 2 different browsers (Firefox and Brave). Tried 2 different debit cards and in 2 different currencies.

No combination of the above worked.

It's not that difficult to accept payments. What kind of janky payment provider are they using? (Iirc they're using Adyen but eBay also uses Adyen and eBay has no issues).

Or perhaps they just have Adyen incorrectly configured or configured in a worse way than eBay.

Welcome to the Pixel family. ❤️

The camera on the P5 still shreds a lot of phones, including the iPhone 13 imo. (Even though DXO sees that differently)

  24. I figured out what was wrong..... The Pixel 5 USB driver installed by Windows is broken. You need to get rid of it and swap it for Google's Pixel 5 USB driver.

There's your problem....  Seriously Linux makes things so much easier. In every writeup I've done on XDA I recommend people use a Live distro (usually Mint) as you can just quickly install ADB and Fastboot from synaptic and it will just work. No drivers or anything to mess with.
