Pretty sure that's only possible with LN2 on current CPU's...

josh_05 got a reaction from ShearMe in Long term audio system overhaul and questions associated with it
90% of integrated amplifiers have a built in headphone amp that will run through the same DAC your speakers are using. With your budget i would be looking at something like the Cambridge Audio 351A which is an amp with integrated headphone amp and DAC paired with the likes of some Wharfedale or Q Acoustics bookshelf speakers.
http://www.cambridgeaudio.com/products/azur-351a-integrated-amplifier
With the 351A you can connect it to your PC/Laptop via usb, that will then run the signal through the built in DAC and in to your headphones and speakers. Speakers I'm still looking in to for you as Cambridge gear tends to be a little bright which imo is a good thing, pair it up with some good warm sounding speakers and your going to get a very detailed sound without being harsh or shirll in the high frequencies.

Awesome score on the Wharfedale's :) I completely agree if the OP can find an amp and speakers then go for it.

I scored a set of 325s a few months ago, older model, but not even used. So good.

Nice choice on the Grado's :) I'm using the SR225i's and love them :)
Your Cerwin Vegas will defiantly benefit from the STX's DAC :)

The music quality on the STX is a lot better than the other 2 due to its onboard Burr Brown DAC. keeping in mind, you have to have a decent set of headphones or speakers.

josh_05 reacted to Cheesebaron in Any audio guys?
Notice the OTL I wrote. OTL = Output Transformer Less, these tube amps, just like the name implies, do not have any Output Transformers, which make them excellent for High Impedance headphones. There are amplifiers with OT, which are a lot better for headphones with low to medium Impedance. So I am not saying that tube amps in general are bad with sensitive headphones, just those without OT's.

josh_05 reacted to Cheesebaron in Any audio guys?
Afaik the AKG Q701 are better with Solid State or hybrid amps because they are low impedance headphones. This post on Head-fi explains it pretty well.

Had the Little Dot MK IV SE as a loaner for a while when I also had my HD650, pretty good synergy those two have.
A couple of pictures :D

josh_05 reacted to R4STABAN in 2Gb or 4Gb for 1440p?
How many people that have posted in the thread have gamed at this res or greater while limited to 2gb vram?
The vram topic pops up on forums daily and people gaming at 1080p chip in as if they know what they're talking about.
I run 3 x 1080p (1440p is ~60% of this) with 2 2gb 680s and here's my experiences:
-I always disable windows aero when gaming on newer games (saves ~200-300mb vram)
-I used to play battlefield 3 on ultra but had to turn aa down to 2x, I would usually play on high because 680s aren't powerful enough.
-If you run out of vram your game will crash or you will trudge along at 1fps, I can force this to happen by turning AA up to 8x or w/e silly value you want.
-If I ever push settings high enough to push me close to the vram limit my fps is already rubbish because gk104 and the 256bit bus can't handle it.
For 1440p 4gb is not a necessity.
-On 1440p you don't need as high AA because of the good pixel density MSAA is a vram hog.
-If it's not too much more money, it may be worth it, but it's not worth spending loads extra on, because..
-AMD spanks nvidia above 1080p by a bigger margin than below it. (7950s make 680s look rubbish), they're cheaper and come with more vram too if you're worried.

Just an idea I had, picture is fake, I shopped it lol.
But is it possible? Two Titan GPU's on a single PCB?
I doubt Nvidia would do it, but I suppose someone like EVGA could take it upon themselves (sort of like HIS and Powercolor did with the 7990).
Sorry if the title and picture got you excited because you thought it was real ha.
Here's a real confirmed picture of the 790 though:

Best to have a think about it and check out some recent benchmarks then (Linus has probably done some recent ones) and see if you think the FPS difference is worth it :)

What an entertaining review. And so true; getting stuff shipped to you in wooden crates IS sexy.
Especially if it's insulated with hay and some is sticking out from under the lid, very very sexy. Oh how I long for another crate.

I use the optical out of my mobo to a Little Dot DAC_I which in turn feeds into my Little Dot MK IV SE which I use to power my Sennheiser HD 650s in order to enter a Zen state with various musics. ^_^
The receiver you can see in the background is what I use to power two of the speakers below. Nothing special here, but good enough to share music with my neighbors down the block....
