  1. Just an update - I ended up going for the Audioengine A5+ which got delivered today and I'm really impressed by them. Thanks for all the help
  2. Will studio monitors provide a much better listening experience considering I'm running no sound card and only spotify quality music? Also unless I'm wrong studio monitors offer a very accurate sound quality, and I generally prefer a richer (bass heavy) sound quality so wouldn't I be better going for the satellite? Oh, and what is the volume level like between studio monitors and satellite as they may be used for parties? (sorry for bullet pointing / numbering, easiest way to make it readable). Thanks in advance x
  3. Thanks, I'll have a look at them - do you know what brands I should be looking at for that price range?
  4. Hi everyone, I'm looking for a set of desktop speakers for around £300, preferably a 2.1 setup (2 speakers and a sub). Not got a lot of space on my desk but not the end of the world if they are large because I can put them under my desk. They will be used for movies, gaming and music (folk, rock and dnb) and like quite a bass heavy sound. Has anyone got any good suggestions ?? (Also had a look at these and they look pretty good https://m.bose.co.uk/GB/en/home-and-personal-audio/speakers/computer-speakers/companion-50-speaker-system/
  5. Thank you so much for the advise guys, It shows how good a forum LTT is that I can have so many passionate people offering me advise - I am going to get a GTX 780 ti as I think that my budget can stretch that far ... thanks again though to everyone x
  6. Ok guys can we try not to get too personal with the comments. What I'm getting though from the feedback is; If money allows go with the MSI Gtx 780ti However if it does not then the R9 290x is a good option, followed by the Gtx 780 Am i right in thinking this ??
  7. Also I know I am getting to a point where price to performance will begin to seriously decrease however right now I have a bit extra cash and there's nothing else i want to spend it on
  8. I really don't like the r9's due tot he high tdp and high temperatures; I'm a bit of a quiet freak and so any unnecessary heat and thus noise would be an issue. In regards to msi v asus; msi always seems to be quite a bit cheaper than other manufacturers - do they use a stock pcb or do they mod it and the power delivery like asus does ??
  9. Hi I am looking to get a new GPU and I was originally looking at the Asus Gtx 780 which comes in at £400 from scan uk (not getting from amazon as the delivery time is up to 18 days). However overclockers is doing the msi gtx 780ti for £480; any advise on which I should get ?? I play on 144hz 1920x1080 screen Got a fx-8320 oc to 4.2ghz 8gb ram I know a gtx 780ti would be complete overkill for a 1920 screen however I'm hoping not to have to upgrade gpu for the foreseeable future I know even a 780 is probably overkill for 1920 i.e. do you think it is worth splashing out extra 70 for the 780ti by msi, or would the 780 from asus be a better bet ??? Thanks, Tom
  10. Thanks for all the help - I think I'm going to try and get my rents to give me cash and then put that towards saving for upgrades in the future like an 880 when it comes out
  11. Hi peoples, My b-day is coming up and I thinking of upgrading my computer. Currently I'm running a Gtx 770 and fx-8350. My budget is around £200 for upgrade / new equipment ... Is it worth selling my 770 and buying a new Gtx 780, or would my money be better spent maybe upgrading my processor and mb to intel. I mainly play on games like Rome 2, Battlefield and planning to play watchdogs ? (I have a 120fps 1920 x 1080 screen) ... So my question is; do you think a gpu upgrade will be worth it or should I stick with what I have got and get something different like e.g. new speakers and a sound card ?? Thanks, Tom
  12. Last update - just played arkham city which usually crashes the computer in like 5 mins however played for 20 mins and nothing crashed - so thank you for all your help x
  13. Update 2 - I have wiped my main drive and then installed windows 7 instead of windows 8. So far I have run kombuster for an hour and no crashes. I have played trine 2 for a while which usually crashes the computer and nothing. The only other thing I need to do is run Batman Arkham city and see if it crashes then x
  14. Hi just a quick update - I am four hours into a mem test and no errors yet. From here I plan to wipe the OS and reinstall. If that doesn't fix it, then I'm going to buy a new PSU and try that to see if that works - if that doesn't work then I'm not sure what after that. Thanks for the help and I will keep you updated x
  15. roid - I'll reinstall my os then because I did switch over from a different pc (but that was a year ago and it has been working fine up until a couple months back). Yep I have the latest nvidia drivers, and my ram is two sticks @1866
