  1. thanks guys i used a pvc floor tile that was just lying around the house
  2. thanks guys thanks man i spray painted the pci slot covers already but it can't be seen that much in the last picture though. the second to the last picture was taken before i installed the led lights and before i sprayed the white vertical pci slot cover.
  3. Hey guys, i'm kinda new here and this is my first modding post here. I don't know if it's just me or is there just a hand full of people modding a define r4 case. Maybe because of its clean lines and minimalist aesthetic? So this is my first mod, and i didn't have that much of a budget, i would just like to share this so that those with little cash to spend could also make their own mods. To start off, here are the specs of my pc: CPU: i7 4770k OC'ed (well not that much) to 4.0 ghz CPU Cooler: Corsair h80i RAM: G-skill Ripjaws 1866mhz 4x4gb or 16gb GPU: Sapphire r9 270x toxic edition Mother Board: MSI z87 gd65 gaming Storage: 1TB western digital black SSD: 120gb Corsair force ssd Those are the specs and boring stuffs about my build. I'll just skip to the Pictures so this first pic shows the materials i used for the mod. the orange thingy you see is a pvc tile that i will use to build my shrouds. these pics are the hdd shroud progress pics. glass sticker thingies that i printed the PSU shroud, with a mesh i cut from an old generic PSU heres the shroud attached to the build. and here are the shrouds when painted matte black. looking pretty nice there. and now for some detail shots. i added a blue strip LED from bitfenix heres the finished product with leds turned off aaanndd finally with LEDs turned on going to post glamour shots soon when i get the time... also planning to add additional r9 270x and put shrouds on it since the yellow is kinda distracting, or maybe just buy a r9 290x msi one thanks, for viewing, and i hope you guys enjoyed my build log. have a good one.
  4. These are my favorite videos from your channels:) the one from linus because it helped me a lot to understand what overclocking is when i was still planning to overclock. and the one from jay because he is so funny with his kid and i love unboxing episodes. best of luck to everyone!!
  5. Hi guys i have a bit of a problem. so i want to add an additional sapphire r9 270x toxic to my rig. One of the issues i have is that my power supply only has one 6-pin connector, and one 6+2-pin connector. and i will need 2 more 6 pins to accomodate my incoming r9 270x. I was wondering if i should get a new power supply or is there like a way of still using my existing psu, like daisy chaining the r9 270x's? and also is my psu's wattage enough to support another r9 270x? My psu is a seasonic s12ii 620w 80+bronze my current rig: processor: i7 4770k cooling: corsair h80i graphics card: sapphire r9 270x toxic ram: 16gb 1866 ripjaws gskill ssd: corsair force ls 120gb hdd: wd black 1tb
  6. Thanks again guys:) you are a great deal of help.
  7. Thanks guys for the quick reply, i plan on getting an h100i somewhere in the future, do you guys have any reccomendations on cooling solutions such as fans, thermal paste, and fan configurations on the case.
  8. Hi guys, i'm just wondering if my cpu temperatures are normal for a slight overclock Here are my temperatures: The ambient temperature ranges from 23-27 degrees Celsius Idle temperatures range from 30-35 degrees Celsius Under 100% load in vray rendering it goes to 75-78 degrees Celsius My cpu is slightly overclocked to 3.9 ghz with a core voltage of 1.140v. my cooler is a corsair h80i with stock fans running on push pull config. and my case is a fractal design define r4 windowed, with one intake fan in front and an exhaust fan up top.
  9. Thank you for the build guide sir:) I think i will go with your suggested parts.
  10. 2nd graphics card for a little gaming on ultra settings maybe:) And the projects range from residential houses with trees that have lots of leaves, to stadiums with 2d entourage, to high rise condominiums and small communities. My normal work roughly has 3,000,000 polys for the high end and about 800,000 polys on the low end projects.
  11. Thanks for your suggestions sir:) Im not sure as to what particular model i am going to use for a PSU yet sir but probably the Corsair TX750M 80+Bronze Modular.
  12. Thanks for the posting tips sir:) I'm going to be rendering 3d images with Vray for Sketchup sir, which to my understanding utilizes all cores of the cpu. Also i would be modelling 3d stuff with a lot of polygons and faces. Although i have been considering getting a 4790k chip instead and use the money saved on a 2nd graphics card. I also plan on using Autocad, Revit, Adobe photoshop, After effects, and other video editing programs, and 3d studio max, but the program i will be using most will be Sketchup, with Vray for Sketchup renderer. I am using roughly USD $1,600.00 for this build sir.
  13. Wow guys, you are a great deal of help:) i appreciate your inputs. Your points and suggestions will be greatly considered in building my pc. I'll probably change my hard drive to either a black or a blue one. And i will get a decent r9-280x. Just not sure for now what manufacturer i will choose. And i will replace my corsair h100i with a decent air cooler for now, after a year or so maybe ill build a custom water cooling loop and change my case to a larger one. One thing i have against air coolers, but is not yet confirmed, is if a heavy fin stack will cause strain on my motherboard and will someday cause the motherboard to break, is this true or am i just a little paranoid? As for the cpu, i think i will stick with the 4930k since vray renderer for sketchup uses all the cpu cores for rendering so more cores = faster render times, im just not sure how hyper threading will benefit me in this situation. The additional ram slots for future upgrades in the 2011 platform will also be a +1 for me since other programs i use will heavily rely on my ram. Also my current pc is a core 2 quad q8400 running at stocks so ill probably be surprised as to how fast 4930k's 6 cores will render. Thank you for your guidance and help guys.
