  1. Hi I have a bluetooth keyboard (a Filco Majestouch in case it matters) which connects to my PC via the bluetooth PCI card installed in my mobo. This works fine at the moment but ideally I'd like for the keyboard to work pre-boot e.g. so I can use in the BIOS or to enter a password for full disk encryption. I understand that the bluetooth stack exists at the OS level and so this is why it doesn't work pre-boot. However, I've heard that using a USB bluetooth adapter can work pre-boot because the bluetooth adapter fools the OS into thinking it is a wired USB keyboard (something to do with HID mode). I was just wondering if anyone else had any success with this and which specific bluetooth adapter you purchased? Thanks
  2. Hi I have an NZXT H210 Case and I'm looking for the quietest possible GPU which provides performance comparable with a 1660ti. From my own research, I think the GTX 1660ti Gaming X is very quiet but unfortunately it seems that it is too thick for the the H210 (46mm thick vs max of 44mm). I was just wondering if there were quiet GPUs compatible with the H210 which provide performance like a 1660ti? Thanks
  3. I have an NZXT H210i case which has a fpanel cable - like this. The case also came with an adapter for a 'non-intel standard f-panel header' - like this. My motherboard is the ASUS ROG STRIX B450-I which is an AMD motherboard which has an FPANEL header - like this. My question is whether I can use the standard fpanel cable or I need to use the adapter? Thanks
  4. I've also just noticed that MB doesn't appear to have bluetooth which is a bit annoying!
  5. Budget (including currency): £700 (excluding graphics card) Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Occasional gaming, coding Hi everyone I'm in the process of planning a new build (this will be the third or fourth PC which I've built). I'm looking for a PC which will be used for occasional gaming (nothing too heavy) and coding. The following are important to me: I'd like a smallish mATX build I'd like my PC to be really quiet I have come up with the following as a preliminary parts list. Please note that I haven't chosen a graphics card and may just buy an ultra cheap one as a placeholder until I decide which one to go for. PCPartPicker Part List CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X 3.8 GHz 6-Core Processor (£194.98 @ Aria PC) CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U12S SE-AM4 CPU Cooler (£54.32 @ CCL Computers) Motherboard: MSI B450M MORTAR MAX Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard (£94.98 @ Amazon UK) Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory (£64.48 @ Ebuyer) Storage: Samsung 970 Evo Plus 250 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive (£64.88 @ Amazon UK) Case: Fractal Design Define Mini C TG MicroATX Mid Tower Case (£79.98 @ Amazon UK) Power Supply: SeaSonic FOCUS Plus Gold 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply (£88.99 @ Amazon UK) Total: £688.33 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-07-03 16:54 BST+0100 I'd be very grateful for any thoughts on the above - in particular, any compatibility issues or components which are better (in terms of size/quietness) at around the same price. Thanks
  6. I haven't ever used an i3 but I think you're right in that it would. however, do you think an i5 would provide some useful extra capacity to prolong its life?
  7. My father needs a new PC. He'll only be using it for emails, office etc but wants it to be pretty snap at those things and also wants it to last a decent amount of time. I was thinking about a PC with: -a recent i5 8gb ram -a small SSD (120gb or so) -no graphics card required He wants to buy new (or refurbished) as he declined my offer to build one for him (!). Please could someone recommend something decent for him (would prefer a 'respectable' brand) for less than £500. Thanks!
  8. Yeh I'm not really looking to get into modding a laptop....
  9. Hi I'm looking to buy a thinkpad (always loved these machines) and was hoping for a recommendation. Not so concerned about portability but want something that's pretty quick and has a decent (1080) screen Am happy to buy used/refurbished to get the best for my money. Looking to spend £600 - £800 Perhaps a T460/T470? Thanks!
  10. yeh, the system has been working perfectly for the last few weeks
  11. ok, i've just realised that it makes three beeps when no memory is installed at all
  12. Fixed font. BIOS is fully updated. I've reverted to stock to no avail nor does removing any one stick (and if the RAM was broken would it boot at all - which it does every 4-6 attempts?)
