Go to 16:52. He gets a prank call, he immediately hangs up and says "well, it seems we've got some fans of Linus", and then goes on to say "if you are on that side of the argument, then you are with those people who are doing that". He seriously needs help, this isn't normal.

    Except, it's proprietary software.

Windows = could be spying on you, very likely is based on masses of evidence.
GNU/Linux = is objectively not spying on you, based on its open source code and non-proprietary software.

So the burden of proof is on Microsoft here.

That doesn't mean I'm going to suddenly bend over and let companies do whatever the fuck they want to do with my privacy. I will do everything I can to prevent and minimize it.

Also, who gives a shit about Apple? Again, there are legit alternatives like any Linux distro.

No, Windows in fucking general is a botnet designed to farm your data, personal information, and to basically spy on you. It's not suddenly a safe haven, Windows (and Microsoft) products have always been like this.

I use not just Adblock, but also Noscript. And no, I'm not turning them off or whitelisting them Because although I trust linustechtips.com, I do not trust newrelic.com, gstatic.com, ajax.googleapis.com, and countless other domains that are trying to constantly connect to me and run scripts that I didn't ever give permission to run when I go to this website. YouTube is worse, I don't want dozens of Google scripts running.

THERE IS NO WAY TO DO PAID MODS CORRECTLY. IT IS AN INHERINTLY FUCKING GARBAGE RETARDED IDEA.
Mods are almost always community made, they aren't just one guy behind them. Normally all sorts of people jump in and make changes, updates and improvements to mods. SkyUI is made by an entire community if I remember right. Just one person getting some compensation for it makes zero sense, when normally so many other people (normally just random guys on the internet) also put work into them, improve them, adapt them, and fix them. What happens as soon as a game updates, the mod suddenly breaks, and the creator has since abandoned the mod? Good job, you've just wasted your money, and the mod creator has run off with the cash with no intention of updating his mod. You now have something that no longer works with the current game. What happens when the mod you just paid for doesn't work with any of your other mods and creates all sorts of problems and inconsitencies? What happens when the mod you just paid for wipes all your save files and corrupts core gameplay files due to a horrendous bug? What if the owner has zero intention on fixing this? What happens when the mod you just paid for works for 24 hours, then suddenly goes wrong on the 25th hour? 24 hours was the original 'refund point' back when they implented Skyrim mods, so no doubt there will be a similar thing here. Paying for mods is a fucking horrible idea. It isn't the same as other content creator platforms like videos or music. That's the reason mods have always been free. You make a fun little mod as a hobby, in exchange you get access to a whole fucking community of mods that others have made as a hobby. If something goes wrong, it doesn't matter because you didn't pay anything for it. So, I repeat:

Gaming is pathetic nowadays. Look at all the people in this thread saying it can be a good idea and welcoming it with open arms "if the percentages are right!". Fucking hell.

The ONLY way modders should recieve compensation is through donations. THEY ARE NOT ENTITLED TO MONEY. That is like saying Ubisoft is entitled to me paying for their game, just because they took the time to develop it. And because they aren't entitled to money, they can at least recieve donations if people so wish to support them.

Pretty sure the only reason for Skyrim trying paid mods was to lube you all up for Fallout. Fuck paid mods on Steam. Bottom line.
Now that the backlash over Skyrim has come and gone, a lot of you seem ok with this. Just like they wanted.
If a person wants to make money off of something they make, they can monetize it themselves.

First you accept shitty dlc that companies should have had in the game to begin with.
Now you accept shitty dlc that a company didn't even make, and they get paid for.

I hope I sound like a pissed off old dude that used to buy a full game once at release, and gets angry at how accepting people are at having an unfinished game spoon fed to them in paid increments.
    Because I am.
