  1. So another update, I just tightened my cpu cooler mounts down more and it solved. I tightened them with a screwdriver last time so idk why the keep needing to be tightened.
  2. Okay so I re dud the delid and re-mounted the cooler. I was getting great temps (idle around 20-25c) 75c at max load at 5.1ghz. I woke up this morning windows was acting funny and froze up/crashed a few times so I had to deal with that but now my temps are back to idling at the 40's and thermal throttling as soon as its hit with a load. This is super odd behavior and it isnt because of the cpu itself now.
  3. Alright, I have seen people put the liquid metal on the cpu die only and some where they put it on both is there actually a difference?
  4. Thanks guys, ill try remounting and re doing the delid. Going to try a new thermal compound on the remount because I have to order more anyways. For the delid I do re-silicon it on I’ll try to use as little as possible to see what difference it’ll make. I use liquid metal on the die I apply it with q-tips is there a better way to apply? thanks
  5. Hello, So I have a Delidded 8700k with a H110i cooler which should be plenty sufficient for my chip but it really likes to run hotter than I'm comfortable running around 70c under load (cinabench) at stock settings. I have managed to make it stable at 5.1Ghz with no issues and in a normal gaming environment my chip stays in the upper 70's mid 80's but that just seems really hot for me under a constant load and even at stock it isn't much better. My idle temps are pretty hot too around the upper 40's. I have been troublshooting but for a delidded chip (I do them myself and I've done a few in the past with great success) running upper 70's stock with a very high end cooler just seems odd to me and I would really like to get it lower. Could it possibly be a bad delid/relid or mount? Other spec 16gb 2400mhz ddr4 Asrock Z370 Gaming K6 H110i GTX GTX 1070ti
  6. So I just completed my delid and I'm seeing great temps with a 5.2Ghz Oc. I was thermal throttling before now I'm sitting at around 70c flat. When I took my IHS off it had little to no thermal compound on it which shocked me.
  7. Alright I’ll try to delid for now I’ll bump it down a bit. How terrifying/ dangerous is delidding and what’s the best tool out there for this? Thanks
  8. So I tried a remount with no difference. Checked the pumped and it seems to be working at full power. I downloaded Prime95 and did a test and my temp skyrockets to 100c instantly and I start thermal throttling. Could this be something in the BIOS I have seen some people talking about something adding alot of heat but never looked into it. It just seems really odd that a 130$ cooler can't keep this chip from thermal throttling. Will run at stock speeds to see temps as well. Could it be possible that this chip just has really bad heat transfer to the IHS in which case I would have to delid to get the temps down? At stock speeds (4.0Ghz) I'm hitting 75-80c.
  9. Okay thanks guys, I’ll try to remount, I’ll keep you updated on the results.
  10. Hello, I just upgraded to a 8600k and I have been getting some very high temps with my H110i GTX (80-90c under load) this is with a 5.1Ghz OC at 1.375v. I used to have a delidded 6600k that ran at 40c under load so this is new to me. I don't feel comfortable with those temps but don't want to decrease my OC. My specs are I5-8600k @5.1 Ghz 1.375 v, Asrock Z370 Gaming K6, H110i GTX, mx-5 Diamond thermal paste. I have three options New fan's to be able to push them harder but also much quieter, what I'm asking is what kind of difference would this make and whats the best option. New cooler, was looking at the H150 but this is a little pricey. Send my CPU in to get delidded by silicon lottery. Last reort option because it means my computer would be offline for up to a week. Thanks
  11. The past couple times I've had games running 2-30 mins into the game my PC locks up and freezes, this is paired with a very loud screeching sound and then blue screen. I have to reset my PC. This has happened more often with the past few drivers. I have a GTX 1070ti and my driver is 391.01. Here is the images of the first two faults at the time of the incident.
  12. Hi, I pwn a Dell S2716DG 144hz 1440p G-Sync Screen and sometimes it has this odd line going right down the middle of the screen. I have to turn off and back on my screen to get it to go away. Is this a known issue? Thanks
  13. Thanks for the quick responses, I’m narrowed it down to this dell monitor is this a respectable model? https://www.bestbuy.com/site/dell-27-led-qhd-gsync-monitor-black/5293502.p?skuId=5293502&ref=212&loc=DWA&ksid=63d9ad09-6f63-4cde-b0d9-bbd1418b1b10&ksprof_id=3&ksaffcode=pg252543&ksdevice=m&lsft=ref:212,loc:2&gclid=CjwKCAiA9f7QBRBpEiwApLGUikeL8UVt1y1qDuqTZ-pq1tPfpqr4KaFinFmRBm18uQfN4QhzPCEAxBoCkxkQAvD_BwE
  14. Hello, I’m looking at upgrading me 1080p 23inch dell monitor. I play some games and use photoshop. I have a GTX 1070Ti and was wondering what would be better and 1440p Gsync or a 4K 26-30inch screen. My budget is about 300-400$. What would you guys do and what are some good recommendations. thanks
