It is really easy, just make sure you have the right BIOS file for your board, put it on a clean USB with nothing else and boot into BIOS and use the update utility in it. Some BIOSs even have a utility that can just update itself if it is connected to the internet with an ethernet cable with a single click of a button. You have to have a supported CPU though, so if you buy an old board that has an old BIOS version on it that only supports Ryzen 1000 series then it won't boot until you update it and to update it you need an old CPU temporarily to just update, then it will work properly with the new Ryzen 2000 series CPUs. Unfortunately there is no way to tell if you will be shipped a board that has already been updated. AMD can supply you with a "Boot Kit" that you can use to update your board as well, otherwise you can just take it to a shop and they can do it for you or you can borrow a Ryzen 1000 series CPU and so the update.

ddbtkd456 got a reaction from mpsparrow in My first NAS
The thing that you need to understand with nas and raids are that raids are better done with raid controllers which are $500 new...for a decent one (LSI). One top of that to do it correctly you need error correction memory which is pretty expensive (ECC Memory). To properly run freenas you would need 1gig per tb of space. My recommendation would be to get the WD prebuilt one if your not doing anything extensive.

ddbtkd456 reacted to WoodenMarker in Why do I need to get a platinum?
The rating is for the efficiency of the psu and doesn't determine the quality. The only reason higher efficiency ratings are relevant would be for less power consumption, lower heat, or bragging rights.
That being said, the correlation of psu recommendations and ratings are only that--correlation. EVGA's bronze and gold rated psus differ in quality and not only efficiency rating.

The highest quality and most stable Power Supply Units available. Protected by industrial grade protection circuitry and can output wattage at a rated maximum temperature of 50°C or below. These units are also Haswell certified, meaning they can cope with the C6 and C7 sleep states of 0.05Amps without triggering the under-current protection switch. ddbtkd456 reacted to dalekphalm in So....AntiVirus Requirements Opinions Please
@ddbtkd456 As others have mentioned, Windows 10 has Windows Defender built into it for free. This is a decent AV that is very minimal, with very low system resource usage. It won't bug you unless there's a problem.
@HeyKitty I highly disagree with what you said on #8. Why leave one attack vector? If you're going to use Windows Defender on the Windows 10 machines, then you might as well use Microsoft Security Essentials on the Windows 7 machine. It's essentially the same program. They just renamed and merged it with Windows Defender (Which in Windows 7 is ONLY a basic adware/spyware scanner, but in Windows 8+ they merged it with MSE). Also, just because "It's Apple" doesn't mean anything. Mac OS X has tons of viruses now, and it's certainly not virus immune anymore (Not that it really ever was, aside from being protected due to being a low risk target). iOS has some basic protections, and due to the nature of the device, makes it more secure.
The iPad's and Android devices will likely be fine. iOS has basic protections against virus infection, as does Android.
Note: If the Android devices are rooted, or the iOS devices are Jailbroken, then all bets are off in terms of virus protections. Rooting/jailbreaking does make them more vulnerable.

ddbtkd456 got a reaction from Kobathor in PSU Tier's & Rankings Ver. 2.0
I originally made one of these posts but then decided to deleted it since it was a repost by someone else. So the point of this topic is to refer people here so they know what kind of PSU is better then the others. I would argue that the signally most important component in your whole computer system is you power supply. Why? Simply put if your power supply is not up to pair it can end up looking like this, or shortly stated it can fry your whole pc along with every single component it is plugged into. Not to worry tho stick to this list and you'll be good to go on that part. So below are some links that might help if you want to take a look at them as well.
Finding the Right PSU - Credit to @Windspeed36 Explanation of 80 Plus Efficiency - Credit to @STRMfrmXMN The Original PSU Tier Guide - Credit to @Aniallation Wattage Guide to System Build - Credit to @Aniallation So what makes an excellent power supply unit? There are a couple of different factors that go into making a quality power supply:
Components - The higher the quality of the components within the power supply, the more stable it will be. In turn this will be an important fact since this determines how long your power supply and your components of the computer will last overall. The lower the quality of the components within the power supply the more it will negatively impact not only your power supply, but the components its providing power to as well. Don't skimp out if it can be helped. Stability - The more stable a power supply is the more efficiently it will run. This is determined by ripples caused when a power supply is pushed in both wattage and amps. The less ripples it has when stressed the more stable it is, a poorly stable power supply will shut down when stressed and should be avoided at all costs. These unstable power supplies are a danger to not only your components, but also to the builder. Efficiency - The more efficient the power supply is the more money you will save, the link above will describe it more in depth. Safety - This is probably one of the most important things when it comes to judging a power supply. The safety is determined by making sure the power supply does not short circuit or cause unnecessary or serious harm to the components it is powering. Be sure to take notice of the over-temperature protection and make sure it is capable of having the correct safety switched that you are looking for. Stay away fom those power supplies that don't have any safety switches as this will not just ultimately affect you, but maybe the others around you. As stated before all the power supplies before is based on professional unbiased reviews. If you don't see your power supply below or its not listed, then it may be discontinued.

Sounds like you want a Define S and an EVGA 650W GS!

I am only going to be using SLI 2-way plus a M.2 at the most at all times, otherwise I will just upgrade cards. More then two in SLI really doesn't benefit from a performance standard.

Two gamers, one cpu it.
Run Unraid and get a 5960x based system with two 390x's and 32GB of RAM. You'll end up with two hyper threaded quad core based systems with a 390x in each for when you both need a computer, and a hyperthreaded octacore and XFIRE 390x's if only one of you needs it.
If they broke up the second rig would literally be the last thing on his mind.
