  1. I would think that ,,to have an upgrade of processor and motherboard will be worth it for the 390x
  2. I had it watercooled,, I could not push it any higher on the bios 1,, I could push the clock on bios 2 and it idles at 40 degrees C on bios 2,
  3. hi,, It's 4 gb refference card from sapphire 947 Mhz
  4. If your system supports the 390x then I would think that your friends system cannot support the 390x
  5. hi guys,, recently i bought a used sapphire r9-290,, one of the bios setting was flashed to r9-290x bios,, I am hoping that somehow i could return it to its original bios,, on the first setting (near the IO area) i could not overclock the card,,on the second setting which i believe is the uber mode was flashed,, set to 1ghz,, adding as much as MHz ,the GPU will give me a blue screen or absolute lag while gaming can someone help me to bring/teach me how to flash the card to its original bios? or at least give me a link where I could flash my gpu,, i have downloaded a bios but I'm afraid to use the USB method,, I'm afraid to brick my card, I have been saving money for too long just to break it. thanks in advance guys
  6. thanks max,, ambient is about 23 or 24 degrees C, I'm using the included fan controller of the arc mini, most of the times its @ 7 volts,, but when I"m gaming I set it to volts which puts the fractal designs fans to 1200 rpm
  7. i just painted them flat black really...
  8. yes!!!! I guess I have not name it cheappy if it had expensive cpu on it...
  9. trade off,, if i have spent more on the cpu then i was not be able to purchase the used r9-290 with waterblock,, it was a bit of a bargain and i had to go for it,,
  10. i would really really really love to have a higher cpu,, but the budget would be an issue,,
  11. It's been a while since I posted my last build,, the original project cheappy was epic, but technology and games kept evolving and so I came up with a new build,, Hope you guys enjoy this.. Project Cheappy V2
  12. @ idle the gpu will be at around 36 degrees and the cpu would be at 29 degree ish,, when i ran furmark or unigine ,, i could get the gpu at 65 degrees but the cpu temp will hover around 37 to 45 degrees,, all fans @ 1200 rpm and the pump running on 12 volts,, EK dcp 4.0 i think the EK xtx 360 is about 11 fins per inch
  13. hi,, the card is not throttling at all,, maybe I was expecting a lot lower temp on the cpu and gpu when i decided to buy the 360 rad, but what i really was thinking if i could get it any lower
  14. Hi guys,, This thing has been bothering me for quite some time now,, I've been thinking of adding a 240mm rad on my build,, but I really don't want to change my tubing run, but my r9-290 is maxing @65 degrees when gaming,, now my question is,,, will there be a big difference in adding that 240 rad and sacrificing the clean run will be worth it? any ideas on how much of a difference there would be.. thanks in advance guys...
  15. Specs are: Intel i5 4460 Asus z97m-plus Kingston 120gb ssdnow Kingston 8gb hyper x Sapphire R9-290 Fractal Design Arc Mini R2 Seasonic 750X series EK XTX 360 EK Supremacy HF Ek r9 290 waterblock EK dcp 4.0 EK res five Fractal Design fans
  16. the scenario is,, i have a 360 rad,, EK 360 xtx,, and i have two pumps,, one is EK dcp 4.0 and a xspc dual bay pump/res,(right now Im using the xspc) the Ek dcp 4.0 has a higher flow rate than the xspc,, i like using the xspc coz it's way quieter than the dcp 4.0 but im worried that the xspc is not pushing water as much needed.
  17. is there a significant difference between a low water flow rate vs. a high water flow rate? does a lower flow rate performs better since the coolant/water will stay longer in the rad?
  18. yes I am currently running a radeon 6990 and a i5 4460 on a single loop. i was planning to remove one of my rads ,but I am having a bit o a doubt and hesitation
  19. hi dabasepc,, please forgive me geeting into your question,,but i would like to add some more.. hi aiedeano,, you said that it would be the same across the thickness as the fan/rad combo,, i currently have a 360mm,60mm thick rad and a 240mm 30mm thick rad rad on my system.. would you say that if i remove the 360mm rad ,i would get the same temperature OR have a slightly higher temperature? hi enderman,, would you say that at xflow 240mm 20mil thick rad with high fpi will perform the same as the low fpi ek 360mm, 60mil thick rad? let say we would use the same fans @ the same rpm's.
  20. hi fluffy, I already put a foam under the pump/res,, nothing changed,, the pump/res is now running on the table with a pillow under it(it is silent), but when i try to make a kink on the two meter tubing ,it is making the same noise like the noise it's making when it was inside case with the full loop.... I dont now if this is a v1 or v2 jay,, it is hard to put the 360 rad on the top, mounting holes are a bit of offset, the side panel was scratching the rad,, what i did was install the fans on the rad without the two screws on both ends,, and then i used four long m4 screws to install the rad/fans slightly offset going inside just to make it fit
  21. yes jay, i am pretty sure that is not the case making noise/ vibration, that's the first thing i thought of, i already removed the pump/res on my rig ,,run it with just a two meter tubing,, and it is running quietly,, so i think there is just too much rad and water block on my system that the pump is working hard that causes the noise.
  22. hi guys, at this point i am needing your inputs, currently I am running a intel i5 4460 and radeon 6990 gpu with EK 360mm xtx and a 240mm (30mm thick) rad and a armaggeddon (rebranded xspc) dual bay pump/res on a fractal design arc mini r2 case,, now the situation is the pump is making some audible noise, so i dis assembled the rig and considered trying to run the pump/res outside the case with just a two meter tube and the pump ran silently,i think the pump is overloaded. my questions are :: which rad to remove?( just to remove load for the pump/res) if i remove the 360mm rad? is 240 rad enough to cool the 6990 and the cpu?( @current set up temps are 24degrees on cpu 35-40 on the gpu@ idle,, around 60degrees in gaming)celcious if i remove the 240 rad. do you think it will remove load of the pump just to make it quieter?
  23. @Veltrix, I am using a Gigabyte ga-f2a88xm-hd3, hardware monitor isn't working yes the motherboard came with easytune 6, but it only shows that my boost frequency is just about 4.1 Mhz boost, which the 6600k is advertised with 4.2Mhz boost clock, that's what give me a bit of a doubt with easytune6.
  24. Hi guys!!! I just bought a a8-6600k and a gigabyte ga-f2a88xm-hd3 yesterday, after installing windows and drivers, i tried to look for my current frequency and temperatures, then i found out that most software for monitoring does not show the same frequency and they don't show any temperatures. Q1: is this normal to apu's? Q2: any software that i can use? Q3: any opinions on the cause of this? TIA....
