I don't have pictures (or video), so my reply will be pretty boring. Oh well, it's in a Nexus Clodius White case, so you can imagine that?

    Asus M4N75TD
    AMD Phenom II X4 955BE @ 4GHz
    4x2GB Kingston HyperX 1333MHz CL7
    Western Digital 1TB Caviar Blue

It's mostly for shell, misc game servers and if I wouldn't like to live dangerously, backup. I call it Argeon, it's the fourth iteration of my home server.

It all started back in around 2006 or so, with an old Sempron I purchased from my neighbor. I named the server Muhku. It had an odd beige case that had sort of reversed side panels, you had to take off the front panel before you could slide out the sides. Neat detail in retrospect, I had the case up until a month ago. Most of the rest of the parts I still have laying around. CPU fan was and still is fastened with a couple of random screws brutally lodged into the heat sink.

For the second iteration, named Miksei, I purchased some brand new parts, Opteron 1210, ASRock GF6150SE, NEXUS NX-3500 and a new generic case with better airflow. I ended up throwing a 8600GT in it and giving it to someone in need, so nothing remains.

Third upgrade was mostly old parts from my main rig. Abit IP-35 PRO, 4GB of RAM, probably an Intel E6400 (later E7300) and the cheapest half decent PSU (that's now in the current server). It retained the name it had as the main rig, Ilmarinen. This was the first time I ran Windows on it for relatively long periods, IIRC Terraria was the culprit for that.

At this point (Ilmarinen era) I lived in an apartment with a walk in closet with central air exhaust, which was really nice for a server. I added a fire alarm and routed a network cable to finish my personal little data center. Inaudible, out of sight, ventilated. Free. Perfect.

Argeon was born as I once again upgraded my main rig, although this time it got a brand new name. Argeon ended two years of horror (Windows). I sold what remained of Ilmarinen (including a 9800GTX+) for twenty euros, I hope it got a good home. That motherboard had two ethernet ports, which combined with the rarity and high price of decent S775 motherboards nowadays, makes me regret getting rid of it a little.

For the past six and a half years I have had a 100/100 internet, which definitely makes having a home server pleasant enough.

I work for public education, I get all windows operating systems for free. I choose windows 7 ultimate because it is very reliable. The performance difference between 8.1 pro and 7 is so minimal that I prefer the stability.

Just built the PC last night. Was in a hurry (excited) so cable management sucks. Will redo when I get a real cooler and new fans. Considering its the first PC I ever built, im surprised it even runs

I had trouble deciding on this build. I went back and forth about 10 times on the Z97 platform, almost positive I wanted to go that route....

Then I looked at X99... and lo and behold, here we are. I picked up the last shipment this morning, and now it's up and running.

I went with the name "The Guinness"... as it's 1) My favorite beer, and 2) just like the beer, it's pretty damn delicious.
I decided to go this route, as I will be folding for the LTT team with this rig, and 2 cards for folding is pretty monstrous.

Here we are: The first bit of kit I got in the mail...

...and then this morning, this happened! Naturally, I had today off... what a strange coincidence... Just kidding, I made sure I didn't have to be there.

But damn, is that a sexy motherboard...

At this point, I took a break and cooked some breakfast... so fast forward another hour....

My response here? "Well, I'll be damned... it posted! My luck isn't so bad after all."

I forgot to take some pictures during the next phase, but you all know how to install mobo screws and PSUs...

First GPU in here, the rest of this is self-explanatory...

    And the final build:

While it may not be the prettiest cable management, I just wanted it done. I will probably go back later and switch the cabling up.

But there you go! It's not much of a build guide, but here it is

If anyone wants to see the final build all sealed up, I'll do that for the lot of you

And when i turned my computer back on absolutlly nothing happened, and it turned out that i deleted grub so there was no boot loader.

I liked the car analogy, it allows people that aren’t that into computers to get a understanding of what tier of product the ASUS G550JK is. I also like how honest you are about some of the features like the external subwoofer, it’s hard to find a reviewer that doesn’t give an amazing review just because they were paid and given a free product.

Sony is issuing an alert to all Sony VAIO Fit 11A model users, to stop using your tablet convertible ultrabook immediately. The reason is a design issue with the Panasonic batteries used inside the device, which could make the device overheat, and catch fire.

The company said that it has 3 received reports of batteries which caused partial burn to the VAIO Fit 11A. The company has stop selling the mobile computer since the beginning of this month.

That is a big issue, which Sony needs to address. Sony has been in big financial difficulty in the recent years, causing them to sale building, including the company' headquarter, fire large amount of employee, among other cuts, including the selling of its PC division.

The company states that they are working on a program to repair or replace the systems affected, and expect to have information with people with VAIO Fit 11A in 2 weeks times on their website.
In the meantime, don't use the computer.

The good news for Sony, is that they are only 25 905 units that was purchased worldwide, 500 in total sold in the U.S. Therefore, despite its abysmal sales, doing the recall should not be too costly for the company.

Last similar incident, was back in 2010, where 535 000 VAIO laptops worldwide were recalled to a temperature-control system had a defect causing the system to overheat and distort the plastic body of the laptop.

Ubiquiti makes great hardware. If the nanobridge doesn't give you the performance you want and you are willing to shell out some money I would recomend Ubiquiti's AirFiber System. Its much more expensive than the nanobridge, but it may be worth it to you.

To keep a wired lan connection for your PC you would have to connect your PC to the router and then the router to the modem.
    Modem > Router > PC
So yes you are right and would need to have two ethernet cables.

For whatever reason people are here are just nicer to each other than in other forums. Less knowledgeable in many ways however, there is less very detailed discussions and more surface and basic questions than deep technical treatments of topics. I don't think LTT is particular the place to talk about the finer points of latency for example. But the one thing I really "like" is the like feature. Its actually kind of nice to post something informative and have someone positively say that they found that useful. That is a huge deal and it drives a positive reinforcement on the forums that I suspect helps keep people happy.

But I do worry as the community here grows up and gains more knowledge about hardware that it might become more polarised as other such communities have done.
