  1. re: benchmark errors, Im not entirely convinced here. Can there be human error? of course. But they could just as easily have gotten discrepancies that others didn't. Since most reviews for <new product here> all drop within minutes of each other, its not like they can compare against others to see that their numbers were off. Its not like Steve was in their lab watching everything they did, how can he say for certain there are faults? Simply saying "my testing shows..." isn't good enough. The silicon lottery is real. That said, they _could_ post follow up videos after the fact when they see that there _appears_ to be data issues and then compare against other reviewers. If Steve's assertion that speed is a factor in the above though, there may not be time to go back and see if there are data errors compared to the community... which adds to his other assertion, if LTT is trying to position itself as a data-integrity/accuracy place with Labs, the onus is on LTT to ensure there are no errors or are as few as is reasonably possible in their findings.
  2. A guy built a holographic Cortana digital assistant. It looks fantastic. #shutUpAndTakeMyMoney Edit: @SlipperyPete provided me with a link to the creator's blog about the project. Thanks! http://unt1tled.com/blog/cortana-hologram-working-concept
  3. Hey all, I have a Corsair K70 RGB. Its been a great kb since I got it a few years ago. However, a few of the keys are now double or triple clicking... particularly annoying when trying to enter passwords. Anyways, can I simply replace the problem keys with new Cherry switches? This is my first mechanical kb and I've never replaced them before. Thanks for any advice
  4. I tried to pick it up just before W3 came out, I couldn't figure out how to swing my sword... got frustrated... and never touched it again
  5. Ars Technica is giving away The Witcher for free. They're "teaming up" with GOG to do a number of things it sounds like. What that all means, I'm not sure yet. "More Coming Soon". https://arstechnica.co.uk/gaming/2017/04/ars-gog-free-games-partnership/
  6. https://www.amazon.ca/Oculus-Rift-VR-Ready-PC/dp/B01K1M4XYA/ref=gbps_tit_m-4_ebc5_eff84ba4?smid=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&pf_rd_p=0127820a-e7bc-4282-ab08-9fb79fecebc5&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-4&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=6054205011&pf_rd_m=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&pf_rd_r=ABJJGBHZED64WD6MPCKW Specs: * Intel i5-6402P 2.8GHz Quad-Core * 8GB DDR4 * 1TB HDD * Windows 10 Home 64-bit * AMD Radeon RX 480 4GB * Oculus Rift Considering the Rift itself is $850 CAD and the processor is ~$200, I think the price is fairly decent. Its not the _best_ PC out there, but looks fairly decent. Deal ends in 8 hours.
  7. @Suika @Naeaes I was unaware these existed before. Sorry, I don't know if its "Genuine" or not.
  8. Source: http://www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/video-games-tablets/nintendo-wii-u/c-744/wiii-u-consoles/p-19534/sega-mega-drive-classic-game-console-with-80-games/ Sega is also going to be releasing a mini-system. It will ship with 80 games built in, as well as support for Mega Drive/Genesis cartridges. Features: 80 built-in gameslers in the pack 'Plug n Play'on any TV (Via VGA) Includes beloved Sonic the Hedgehog games Includes all 3 original Mortal Kombat games Two user friendly wireless SEGA MegaDrive controllers Compatible with SEGA MegaDrive cartridges* (not included) Includes AV cables Includes AC adapter My feelings on this are the same as my thoughts on the mini-NES: These will be awesome for a cabin or any place that doesn't have internet access... otherwise I'll just use emulators or the Sega Collection on Steam. Disappointing at the lack of HDMI support though. Edit: I forgot to mention, it will be out October 2016 Edit2: I spelt 'heels' wrong... #fail (thx @forthe48)
  9. I wont disagree with the shady business bit. re: your second comment. If you were born/raised/live in a developing nation that has no internet, thats not necessarily your fault. The intent is to deliver these drones to those people.
  10. Src: http://www.theverge.com/a/mark-zuckerberg-future-of-facebook/aquila-drone-internet Facebook has successfully launched its first drone aircraft that they one day hope will be a solar-powered internet provider for people on the edges of cities or in more rural areas. TL;DR: Facebook is actively trying to build an internet-providing plane by allowing access to those that don't have internet access, Facebook can increase its user count The drones (in theory) could fly for 90 days at a time. The test flight was 90 minutes (originally estimated to be 30 minutes). Current drone has a wingspan of 141 feet, and weighs 900 lbs. It is currently powered by batteries only. Future iterations will add solar panels and better batteries. Internet access will be provided by laser communication in the "tens of gigabytes per second" range. The drone could communicate with base stations providing service for up to 50 km. You may remember Facebook announcing something like this before with the intent to launch internet to places like India but was shot down for net neutrality reasons. My 2c: I still think remote internet access is a fantastic thing. Im glad that Facebook (at least implies) the internet wouldn't be a locked down... but we'll see what actually happens. The thought of unmanned drones randomly falling out of the sky still scares me.
  11. Since the list of games available for this seems to be a developer/publisher decision, it'll probably come down to who's awesome and who's money-hungry.
