  1. First, if you have water cooling, quickly check if anything is leaking. After if there are no leaks, or if inapplicable, I'd suggest opening task manager and checking the performance tab, see your usage overall, and CPU frequency. Also if you have some temperature monitoring software, check temps. HWMonitor is a fine option if you do not.
  2. Paused at the right time on a video, and was compelled to 'shop in a charged Kamehameha Wave.
  3. Then a new CPU probably won't give you much of a boost for gaming purposes since you'd still be stuck with integrated graphics - I've got some numbers that suggest a theoretical 30% boost with an intel 6500k. But even ignoring all of that, your CPU should adequately accommodate a RX 480 for the time being, and you would see significant gains and only then should you need to worry about your CPU. Also, I'd look into overclocking the CPU if possible, as that will help lessen its performance impact on the GPU.
  4. I think it's important to first know what GPU you have now, before answering. If you're running integrated graphics, then I'd certainly upgrade that first.
  5. Just wanted to start with saying this is a cool giveaway, both of the laptops look great, and anyone would be well off with either. But if I were to win, I'd rather have the new Razer Blade 14; it'd be a substantial upgrade from my current desktop - listed in my signature, and more detailed on my profile. Feel free to bring the 1080p; I've got nothing better anyway, and I appreciate the extra battery life I could potentially get by not having a higher res display. I'd love to finally be able to consistently play my games with an average of 60FPS with pretty graphics, and even better - all the improvements on productivity for all the random content I make. Being able to compress files, and transcode videos much faster and also have a lower likely-hood of frames lagging when recording any kind of video would be glorious.
  6. Vessel username: MrJak Favorite videos: 5K Titan X SLI and Hardline Water Cooled PC Build Log. (I chose these because I liked them, and they are some of the only exclusive Vessel videos) I'd love to have a Titan X, but that'd be a tad overkill for my Q9650 equivalent Xeon, the e5450 (at least it's at 4GHz though) Shares: Twitter: LTT Post and Vessel Referral Tumblr: LTT Post and Vessel Referal Google+: LTT Post and Vessel Referral Facebook: LTT Post and Vessel Referral Gaming Tribe: Both on same post PlayFire: Both on same post Raptr: Both on same Post Steam: Both on same post deviantART: Both on same page Never said there were social media sites that weren't allowed Only question is, is this 9 extra entries, or is it 18?
  7. I want thank the forum for your input. I have already ordered my hard drives, and have decided to get two 3TB seagates for $190. I should be getting them well before next Wednesday, if not by tomorrow.
  8. I have no problem at all with DOA, my only issue is if they die like a month after the warranty expires.
  9. Care to elaborate? Personally I've had several of both, and my Seagates seem better, but I'm assuming, due to age of the drives I have, that this could have easily changed.
  10. I figured they were only getting their info from that, especially after Linus covered it on the WAN show, though I don't think he ever said that Barracudas were a good choice, though he did kind of hint at it. Unfortunately, I could never find any other so called "study" on the reliability of drives.
  11. I'm looking to get a drive or two, to replace my old, slowly dying 500GB drives. I have a Samsung 850 evo 250GB as my boot drive, and have games on one hard drive, and another dedicated for media and recording videos. I was thinking that I could get a Seagate ST3000DM001. for $100, to store my games, and a 2TB for $80 for everything else, but everyone seems so doom and gloom about Seagate, so I suppose I could keep one of my drives as it is and get a 3TB WD Black for $163 ($155 with promo). While I love the extra warranty, I'm concerned that it won't really be any better, and will be louder than the Seagate, which I've already heard that the WD blacks practically sound like they are dying while in use -- very distressing. I supposed I could go with WD greens, since they are the same price as the Seagates, but I know it's the slowest, by far. I actually really like the idea of getting the Seagates, since I'd have extra storage but people seem so biased towards WD on Tom's Hardware that it's hard to want to side with them, and the five year warranty is enticing on the WD. It doesn't help that every hard drive I see has terrible reviews recently, so I'm at a stand still. I don't really need these drives to last five or ten years, but at least 2-3 would be what I need, though I will be able to keep my current drives handy with working backups. Note: I will not be running these drives in RAID. Also, my current drives don't ever reach 100MB/s, and stop shy of 80 at best. I am looking forward to your responses.
  12. I'd either get a PC built around it, so I can make videos, and/or stream. Would make a great upgrade from a Core2Quad!
  13. I would love to have a mineral oil PC! Sucks to hear that Puget has this issue.
  14. My favorite item in the bundle in the bundle is a tie between the Pulse Headset and the Kuhler 1250. The headset, because a nice, high quality wireless headset would be really nice to have, especially Bluetooth since I can use that on my PC and my phone. As for the Cooler -- it's a Closed-Loop water cooler, with a 240 -- dual 120mm fan radiator, which is about twice as big as my current water cooler, which I believe is a Corsair H50, AND it has an LED on the pump.
  15. You know, I don't remember how I found LinusTechTips -- may have been that video with Crysis and the GTX 560 ti, but I kept finding you, and kept enjoying, so I decided to subscribe, and I've been glad that I have. Anyway, good luck to everyone!
