As always, it is up to you.

Windows 11 brings a lot of new features and improvements; it is up to you if you care about or not. The list is very long, and keeps increasing as Windows 11 keeps getting new features. It is difficult for me to say "the big features", as we all have different priorities. Many people on this forum would be happy if the OS was a locked down iOS device, with all their games in front of them, and maybe a web browser. Others have more needs.

    Here are some notable ones.
Easy audio switch source selection from action center. New Volume Mixer panel from action center. Easy Bluetooth connection and battery life check from action center Bluetooth AAC audio support (in other words, notable audio quality improvement when using BT headset or headphones) New compression file format support (coming soon officially, beta only so far): 7z, RAR, tar, tar.gz, bz2, tbz2 and more. "Recommended" section of the Start menu (I know, I know... but after 2 years, and trying to make it part of my flow, I actually liked it. I think people who do work on their PC, should give it a spin. Helps resuming where you left off, or finding that file which you worked on recently, but didn't save at the proper place by mistake, for example) Improved multi-monitor support. Support for laptop being used as desktop and "undocked" (unplugged) and connected back (restore all windows were you left them) Improved Window Snap Windows Subsystem for Android (run Android apps. No Google service though... ('cause Google is not happy) but hacks can be done to have it) Improved Settings app (way better organized and cleaner than Win10 one, in my opinion. Also, even more options from Control Panel moved there.) Windows Terminal integration (user and admin level). Hugely improved Touch Screen Keyboard (faster, more responsive and customizable) Faster Windows Updates More consistent layout across the OS, and built-in apps Much improved Notepad with tabs support, better search, unlimited undo's Improved Task Manager (a bunch of really minor things, but it all adds up) Improved Touchpad Gestures controls (assuming you are on a laptop with Microsoft Precision Touchpad driver) WSLg (Windows Subsystem for Linux, allowing to run and develop Linux apps under Windows, with full GPU acceleration, Audio and GUI support). If you are a developer this is a big deal. HEVC codec support Massive Touch Screen improvements (night and day better from Windows 10). AutoHDR HDR support to color-managed apps HDR calibration tool. There is also DirectStorage... but still waiting for games devs to support it. I think they will invest time implementing it once most people are under Win11+. If it were my guess, is that probably they realized it will be very difficult for supporting both DirectStorage supported systems and not.

As for reliability. Windows 11 is Windows 10.
Even when you open the Terminal, you see the OS being Identified as Windows 10.

As for Windows 12, things will be different most likely. Microsoft is experimenting recoding some or many (we will see) core components from C/C++ to Rust programing language (in short: a better, more secure programming language). That said, humans make mistakes, and so, expect bugs where it didn't used to have. We will see if it follows through, or MS rollback that decision until Windows 12 is released. Also, as for system resource consumption differences, we will have to wait and see. It might require more memory due to Rust robust memory management that the programming language brings, as for CPU, we will see. It is hard to determine, as it all comes down to how the team working on each component really knows the programming language, and what optimizations they do and how. So, while technically it should not have an impact, it is a recode, and won't have the years of polish and optimization that the older code has everywhere, and so it can be safe to assume that there is a performance impact, in my opinion.

    Win 12?  lol.

Win 10 is still working fine.  I use both and 10 is just fine still.  Don't upgrade unless you just want to check Win 11 out or want better performance for the 12th or 13th gen Intel CPUs, as Win11 handles the E-cores better from what reviewers have said.

the fTPM issues are present but only if you're on older BIOS, before switching it on regardless of Win 10 or 11 I would make sure you're on the latest BIOS available which should have the fix. I think it's AGESA 1.0.7 that has it implemented.

thanks, ill probably get a 4gb stick to make it 8gb for now, and then if its still running into ram issues, return it and try the 12gb.

i dont think so, as voicemeeter relies on windows to output to its device, and then you can route from there...
if there was a way for windows to set voicemeeter as fixed and never change, that would be perfect.

Thanks... Yeah, my frame rates are fine, it's just that they aren't consistent and they drop to low frame rates and go back up occasionally. And I'm pretty sure it's because my CPU is hitting its limit.

I was planning to sell my 4670k and it's z87 motherboard and the 16gb of ddr3 and hopefully get around £250 for it.

Then I was thinking of ideally going for the best I can get (9700k, 16gb ddr4, decent motherboard) although that would cost a lot and I'm not sure if it's worth it, or if I should just wait a bit... I've already got a few ssds and HDDs in my system (check my signature I just updated it to my latest specs)

So I would probably end up spending around £400+ on the upgrade if all went to plan (600 for new system, takeaway the 250 I got from selling old components)

I think I'd also have to get a new power supply as I don't think this one would be able to power the new CPU especially when overclocked, and I don't really trust it to even if it could...

These are my observations about Adobe Premiere/After Effects and somewhat Media Encoder in regards to computer configuration:
Get minimum 16GB of system memory, 32GB would be better, and if you can afford it go as high as you can. At least 4GB of VRAM, 8GB would seem a bit more ideal but again if you can afford it go as high as you can. CPU: number of cores vs clock speed: Minimum 4 cores is a must After about 8 cores, the amount of return for investment sort of diminishes. Try to get the fastest or highest clock speeds possible. So in essence when selecting a CPU try to balance out number of cores vs clock speed.  Don't pick something like an 8 core 2GHz CPU over a 4 core 4GHz CPU. Having fast HDDs or SSDs help.  Have one HDD/SSD dedicated just for OS and applications.  Put video files, project files and other resources related to the project on secondary and tertiary drives. While a lot of us do not really see that much GPU usage during rendering, you will see GPU usage along with both VRAM and system RAM usage spike a lot during editing (previews and rendering of applied effects during previews).  CPU usage will mostly remain high in both editing and rendering.

I wish Adobe would update more of the integrated effects to utilize GPU acceleration.  That would probably speed things up a bit.  And overall improve utilization of GPU processing power.

A note about people who say that Final Cut performs better on a Mac due to utilizing QuickSync.  I've read somewhere (can't remember the source and will look for it) that the reason why Adobe doesn't use QS is because of quality issues.  The article/discussion I read said that Adobe feels that QS is sort of "quick and dirty" at getting something done and therefore has some (though I assume very minor) risks that it could do something wrong.  As I said, I don't remember where I read this so I'm stating this from memory and I could be misquoting the article/discussion.
