I have a GTX 780 and I had this problem with Physx too, you have to manually update physx in the nvidia control panel because updating geforce experience doesnt work. as soon as I updated the drivers I could play with physx with a solid 50fps.

here is my take
if you can afford the GTX780 6GB version
pick that first and later add another one for the ROG Swift gaming monitor
but my pick will be the 290 first and a IPS monitor like the Asus PB278Q
then add another 290 for extra power and for 60+ FPS

I literally didnt have a clue about building PC's a month ago but with sites like this is and videos by Carey Holzman I learned everything and built it, plus im a tight fucker that didnt want to pay £50 for someone else to build it.
Anyway heres what I put together.

GPU: EVGA GTX 780 SC ATX 6GB
PSU: Corsair RM 850
Storage: Samsung Evo 120gb SSD, 2TB WD Black, 3TB WD Green
Monitor: Asus VG278H 27"
Mouse: Corsair Vengeance M65
Keyboard: Corsair Raptor K30
Headset: Corsair Raptor HS30
Windows 8.1
