  1. HI! I'm looking for a nice wireless card for my desktop since I will be away from my beautiful hard wired connection for the holidays. Suggestion on cards? I found one that I think is pretty nice, and it's only $30. It's the Intel Network 7260 card. Is this alright or should I go for something else? I prefer to have the ability to connect to AC, as well as a/b/g/n. Thanks!
  2. This is a stupid questions, but I honestly don't know. How can I remove my framerate cap? I am using a GTX 760 by EVGA. Much help would be appreciated. I am using Windows 8.1. Thanks
  3. I'm not super knowledgeable about troubleshooting, but could a bad CPU potentially cause overheating problems? I'm not sure why the CPU itself would cause an overheating problem. I'm 99% sure there is no plastic anywhere, but I'll triple check it.
  4. Hey LTT. So I started building my first rig, and to my dismay, the CPU began heating very rapidly with the H220-X from Swiftech installed. I turned off the computer immediately and tried reapplying TIM; problem continued. I put the stock CPU fan back on and the temp held steadily (around 40 C). As soon as I put the H220-X back on, it skyrocketed AGAIN. Back to CPU stock cooler - skyrocketed. Ever since, I turn it on and the CPU temp rises. At first, I though the problem was with the H220-X. I e-mailed them and will try bleeding the air out of the system to just to be sure it's not the cooling block. However, I'm not sure why my stock fan doesn't work now either. Could there be a problem with my motherboard? It's an ASUS maximus VII Hero w/ Z97 chipset. I'm using an i5-4690K (not OC'd yet). All tips and tricks are welcome, I just really don't want to have to buy a new Mobo or start all over. Thanks!
  5. Hey LTT! I'm back after a short summer break to ask some more questions. I've been doing a lot of reading about mixing RAM, and It's hard to pin down (no pun intended) what really is okay to do, and what shouldn't be done. Say for example, I want to mix what I currently have (Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB 1866 MHz) with Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB @ 1866MHz. The cas 9 and 10 respectively, and the timing is 9-10-9-27 (Vengeance) and 10-11-10-30 (Platinum). What does this mean in regards to mixing the RAM? I'm curious about what cas and timing mean, and if this mixing could be done. Thank you!
  6. I am sorry if this question has been asked in here at some point, but can you pair (for example) and i5-4690K with an AMD/ATI GPU? Thanks!
  7. The 4690K came out! Would you highly recommend this over the 4670K?
  8. Hey LTT. First, I just want to say what a PHENOMENAL community this is. Now for the question: Here are my 5 major parts that I need to be smooth for OC CPU: i5-4670K Cooler: Corsair H100i RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 16 GB DDR3 1866 GPU: EVGA GTX OC 760 PSU: Corsair RM750 Mobo: MSI Z97-GD65 Will these guys give me the ability to SAFELY OC up to 20% on my CPU? If not, what can be done to make sure this is safe? This is my custom build that I'll start ordering the parts for tomorrow! (this has been months in the planning). Thanks!
  9. Hey LinusTechTips. This is my first post here, but I'm a huge fan of the Youtube channel, and have been religiously watching videos as I prepare for my first build. On the MSI Z97-GD65 Mobo, I noticed there is a "button" called OC Genie. It says that I can boost my CPU up to an additional 20%. Can someone explain how this is any different from overclocking the CPU? Also, technically speaking, wouldn't this boost heat productions and power consumption? I plan to get this Mobo and OC the i5-4670K to begin with, but would using this Mobo feature OC my CPU more? Thanks guys/girls!
