  1. Thanks guys! I was hoping that was the case. Would be a lot simpler to use the micca speakers.
  2. I recently purchased Bookshelf speakers for another reason but got to thinking that they might be better than my computer speakers. The bookshelf speakers I have are the Micca MB42 speakers. I'm using the Lepai LP-2020A+ amp. While my computer speakers are Creative Inspire t3130. I'm not really an audio guy and was wondering if anyone knows which I should use? Thanks for any help that can be provided.
  3. That's a pretty good looking case. It's a bit too big for my tastes though, looking for a mid sized tower. It might be a bit cramped but I prefer that to a lot of open space. Thanks for the help!
  4. Any specific reason to go with the 1600 instead of the 1000 or 1300 with the same model? I'd rather go with one of those because I don't think I need the extra power and they're cheaper, unless there's a reason to go with the 1600. I like the Air540, it looks pretty interesting. But I still think I'm in love with the H440 too much for aesthetic reasons. Thanks for the advice!
  5. Airflow isn't that great, but I do like the silence optimization and the looks of it. I like the 760T/780T but the clean looks of the H440 are just too appealing to me, regardless of airflow. Thanks for the help though! Ya, the FPS stutters are extremely annoying and really take me out of a game. If it happens a lot then I get twitchy whenever I try to do anything. I think I will go with GSync. Thanks for the Rufus tip! I'll definitely try that. Thanks man, it's my dream PC as well. I've been dreaming about it since 6 years ago when I built my first PC. Finally making my own money now so I can afford to be unreasonable with how I spend it =p. Thanks for the help!
  6. About to order the parts for my new build, just wanted some feedback before I actually do it. Build purpose: I'm mainly a gamer/programmer, but I would also like to start streaming/recording video. The game I play the most is League of Legends, and this is obviously overkill for that game but that's not all I do. Because I like to play competitively I'm looking for a high refresh rate monitor. I also want to be able to run Nvidia surround. Parts: Processor: Intel Core i7-5820k I'm only running 2 graphics cards so I don't need the extra pci-e lanes from the next tier processors, I also don't think I'll get enough of an increase in performance to justify the cost difference for either of the other two processors. CPU Cooler: H220X All in one CPU cooler with the ability to be expanded later. Eventually want to water cool graphics cards as well, but probably wont for a long time. Motherboard: ASUS X99-DELUXE I'm going for a black/white themed build, and this is a black/white mobo with the right socket type. Simple as that. Memory: Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4 4x4GB Again, black and white themed DDR4 memory. The Mobo has 8 memory slots in it, so I'm debating about getting 2 of these. However I think my OCD can keep quiet to save $500, and I don't think I really need the extra 16 GB of memory. PSU: Corsair AX1200 I don't think I need the 1200 watts, but with 2 graphics cards I figured better safe than sorry. Also plan on doing more extensive water cooling later and don't want to limit myself at all. Case: NZXT H440 I love how clean this case is. My only potential problem is that there is no slot for an optical drive. I don't care about that for normal computer usage but I plan on connecting a TV to this computer and would like the ability to occasionally watch blu-ray and dvds on it. I can use something external or just a blu-ray player attached to the TV, but it's not as elegant a solution in my opinion. Having said that, I haven't really found any other cases that I like as much. SSD: Intel 730 series 240 GB SSD x2 Plan on running these in raid 0. Again with the black and white theme being the only real decider (Though it's more silver/black, but close enough). HDD: Western Digital 2TB Black x2 Plan on running these in raid 1 for mass storage. Graphics Card: EVGA GTX980 x2 I'm not sure what 980 to go for. I like this card because, again, the black and white theme. Is 4GB of graphics memory enough to run triple 1440p monitors in nvidia surround? Monitor: ASUS ROG Swift For now I can only afford one of these, but would like to eventually buy 2 more. This is the part of the build that I'm least sure about. I know that I definitely want 144/120 hz. I'm not sure if g-sync is worth the cost premium with the graphics cards I'm going to be running, but my current computer experiences fps stuttering sometimes and it's extremely distracting. The bezels on this monitor are perfect for nvidia surround. I'm not sure about the size, I use a 24" monitor and that's the standard size for League of Legends, but the size shouldn't matter if its the right distance away from me. This monitor seems perfect except for the price, and MAYBE the size (have to try it to see). And there doesn't seem to be any competitors. I couldn't find any 144hz monitors with slim enough bezels for me to consider buying. Having said that, it's ridiculously expensive. Advice would be nice. Operating system: Windows 8.1 Does anyone know where I can buy a version of windows that is on a flash drive instead of a disc? With no spot for an optical drive in this case, I'll have to attach my old optical drive to the computer outside of the case, just to install windows. I don't really want to do that but I will if I have to. Any advice on these parts before I pull the trigger would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!
  7. That desk build looks really nice. Seems like it would be a pain to transport or maintain though. I don't think I have the carpentry skills requisite to make it look good either Maybe I'll give something similar a shot in 10 years or so.
  8. Lol, no budget is a strong word. Not going to go over 10 thousand, but don't want to spend that much either . Getting medically discharged from the army right now so I'm getting a severance check that I'm going to turn into this. Not a financially sound decision, but that's why I'm doing it lol. Not sure if I want to wait until the end of the year for the 800 series to come out. Do you know if the ti version of the 880 will be released at the same time? I think there will be enough space if I remove the drive cages, but that removes all my backup and archiving. I'll have to take another look at it Thanks for the help!
  9. I'm looking to build what is essentially my dream computer. I don't have a hard budget in mind. Essentially I just don't want to make any compromises in my system. However I don't want to get things that are pointlessly expensive. Having said that, a good enough justification for added cost could be something like matching color schemes for me. I'm looking to build a quiet, mid tower monstrosity with a clean and classic look to it. I want to have a 2x3 surround monitor setup. Having said that, I don't plan on gaming with all 6 monitors unless I can shift the camera focus to the bottom center monitor, and even then it would only be occasionally and for the novelty. Mainly I want to play on the bottom three monitors in surround and have the top three be for multitasking. I want to be able to edit videos, music and photos. I want to use my machine to stream gameplay as well. I am also a CS major so I do a lot of programming and want the 6 screens mainly for the workstation value of them. The games I like to play are league of legends, warcraft, and various fps games (I'm aware that you can't use surround monitors on league). I plan on water cooling and overclocking this machine about 2-3 months after I build it. Just going to run it with stock air coolers for now. Here's what I have in mind right now: GTX Titan Black x2 running in sli NZXT H440 Steel mid tower white -Im worried that there won't be enough room for the water cooling later unless I don't include my two backup HDDs. Does anyone know who has built in this case? ASUS Rampage IV Black eddition -I assume that a lot of these features are useless to me but the board just looks too good and fits with my black and white scheme. Justifyably expensive in my eyes lol. Unless anyone has another suggestion? Corsair AXi series AX860i -Im not sure if this will be enough power for dual GPU and the water cooling I'll be adding later to overclock. Also plan on buying the custom sleeved white cables from corsair. i7 4930k Ivy Bridge-E Corsair Dominator Platinum 8g sticks x4 Dell U2414H IPS monitor x6 -I wanted to go with IPS because of the viewing angle problems with 6 monitors. Couldn't really find anything with smaller bezzels and vessa mounts. Also worried that the bezzel near the bottom of the screen being larger than the sides and top might be too jarring of a difference between the two rows. Not sure what vessa mount to get. Intel 240g 730 series SSD x2 -Plan on running these in raid zero. Western Digital red NAS HDD 3tb x2 -Plan on running these in raid 1. I'm looking for advice concerning this build. This is just a rough idea of what I want to get. I've only spent like a week working on it so far. This is going to be my perfect computer so want to min/max everything and every detail. Any help would be appreciated. Probably not going to buy all of the parts for a couple months. I apologize for not adding links and for all the type-o's. Posting this from my phone right now.
