  1. Your AIO placement is absolutely fine, the video from GamersNexus is only to showcase the errors in placing the radiator below the pump, making the pump the highest point in the loop, which is bad. The highest point in the loop is where gravity will force all air in the system to, as water is heaver. Your Pump block combo is below the radiator, and is being feed by gravity, which is the way AIO's should be installed. The water weight from the radiator through the tubes easily has enough head pressure from gravity to go back up from the bottom of the tubes (right above the GPU) into the pump. TLDR: It's fine, the radiator is above the pump, and the pump is being feed by gravity.
  2. Since your coming from a laptop, will you be needing a monitor, keyboard, and mouse? I personally would trade a bit of performance to have nice peripherals, and the monitor is literally the only part you look at when using a PC, so a getting a good one is important! If you do not need a monitor or anything else, than the build above is a great starting point.
  3. A lot of this depends on what your doing with your system. If your gaming at 1080p medium settings (like a pro E sports player would), and chasing the most FPS possible(say 300 FPS) , the 3800x will end up becoming the bottleneck. But in a more reasonable work load like 1440p 144hz, the 3800x will have similar/faster performance to any Intel CPU. The most important think to think about is exactly what you want to do with your system, and exactly how much money you can spend, then ask for help on a parts list.
  4. Oh nice, your definitely good to go then.
  5. That Evga PSU is likely fine for now, but once the shortage ends I would replace it just to have a warranty on such an expensive system.
  6. RTX changed about 3 days ago, when the 30XX series was announced, which makes the 2080ti price drop to 500$, that made RTX matter, with how many people are going to buy a 3070, RTX and DLSS will be in nearly every major game because the user base just got 10x bigger, now that "affordable" cards that can actually run it will be out there. Personally, I would not buy a GPU without RT support at all right now, and I bought a 5700XT thinking RTX was stupid early this year, that was last months thing, this month, it matters.
  7. I really don't know what AMD's intentions are in the GPU market. If its more profitable to have TSMC make more Ryzen wafers, then they may just tank Big Navi (I don't think thats going to happen). I do know they have the GPU architecture for big Navi, and will probably let it go as far as it can this generation. I think they will keep the GPU division innovating so they can keep the console market. One thing to note, that Buildzoid said, is if we do not hear big Navi before the 30XX series is released, then it is a non competitor, because if it beats the 3080, they would want people to know before people buy 3080s. If we hear nothing until after release of the 30XX series, than don't worry about big Navi more than likely. So Yes, I think an announcement will be coming really soon, at least I hope so.
  8. I am sure that there could be minor improvements to the big Navi cards from the Xbox variant, but probably not much, I think they will keep somethings for RDNA 3 in late 2021/ early 2022. I have a feeling that AMD wants to do to Nvidia what they did to Intel, the only difference is Nvidia is not sitting around like Intel did. They continue to innovate, and increase prices. But I am starting to think it may be to little to late, with Nvidia taking the lead with the feature set they offer with their cards RTX, DLSS, NVENC, RTX IO, I could just keep going. I don't really see a path forward unless AMD and TSMC lock Nvidia out of 5nm and 3nm availability, and Nvidia gets stuck on Samsung, just like Intel has been stuck with 14nm.
  9. I have been watching a lot of Buildzoid's content, GamesNexus has him do the PCB breakdowns of motherboards and GPUs, really knowledgeable person, and he has done some assumptions on Big Navi based on Xbox series X APU. The Series X has 56 CU GPU portion of the APU, and supposedly has similar teraflops to a 2080ti. The Xbox also uses a power cable that has a maximum wattage of 275W, so we know the APU in the series X is going to be VERY efficient. So based on that he has worked out that Big Navi could be around double 5700XT performance with a 80 CU variant. This would make it around 3080 levels of performance, at a lower power. Do I think this will happen, No, it will likely be between 3070 and 3080 levels of performance, at a lower power from a better manufacturing process (TSMC N7 Enhanced, which is far better than Samsung 8NM) But this is nothing more than speculation. I have heard Linus talking about how word gets around between the tech companies, and I would bet that Nvidia has a better idea of Big Navi's performance than we do, and launched the 3000 series accordingly, especially with both Xbox and PS5 using the same hardware, and probably sending dev kits out to game developers, some who may, just may have a relationship with Nvidia. I think that Nvidia's aggressiveness in this launch and pricing is directly linked to the fact that they know AMD will be more competitive than they ever have been in recent times. So they have gone for the throat, and gave it there best shot at ensure they do not loose the performance crown by throwing everything they have at the 3090, which set a bar AMD cannot match. They have also conveniently left room for a 3080 Super/TI, and/or 3090 12GB, should AMD really be that good this generation. So, to sum it up, Big Navi could be anywhere in performance, BUT, it will BEAT the 2080ti at the very least IMO. Please take all this with a grain of salt, as it is pure speculation.
  10. Ok, I think I am going to try to negotiate the guy down some more then. I know the benefit of buying a XX70 series card on day one, my brother bought a 1070 on release day, and was able to stay at the top of the charts in performance for years, even paying the premium FE tax from Nvidia, that card owed him nothing with as much gaming as he did on it, and was still able to sell it for 230 a few months ago. One thing scares me, the availability of the 3070, I just do not think they will have enough to satisfy demand it they first of next year, which is when Chinese new year hits, and factories shut down, further reducing availability. I think that AIB partner cards will be MUCH higher price than the founder edition, just based on demand. So: Cost benefit analysis 3070 pros, faster than 2080ti, at 499, better RT performance?, lower power consumption, WARRANTY. Cons, Getting one. Unknown performance outside of Nvidia's word, sales tax 2080ti pros, Good deal right now, potential to flip it for money, 11GB vram, Know performance and reliability, no sales tax. Cons: no warranty, high risk, potential to loose significant money long term. Overall, I have no idea what to do now, lol, buy and flip, buy and use, or don't buy.
  11. Ok, this tells me to move forward with the 2080ti if they get faster over time. What would you do?
  12. Nah, its a Sapphire Nitro+, one of the top cards, it will sill be worth more than a 2060 super, where ever those prices end up
  13. Would you buy it to flip it tho, easy 200$ considering I already have 0$ invested in the 1050ti from flipping the system it came in. And I could use it for a month, October is still a ways away.
  14. Well if I wait to long and the 3060 is announced, then the value of my 5700xt goes way down. Even farther than it has right now.
  15. Maybe I am just skewed by AMD card getting faster with time, a 7970 has aged much better than a gtx 680. But you are right, that does not mean much for todays cards, and therefore, is not relevant
  16. This is why I think that a 2080ti may be the way to go, but I am weighing the pros and cons of a 3070
  17. Hello Everyone, I just want some external opinions on how much you would spend on a 2080ti. I have worked out a deal with someone local to me to buy a RTX 2080ti for 500$ + an old 1050ti 4GB, its a founders edition card. So with the 3070 supposedly being equal to a 2080ti and at 499$, would you pay 575$ for a 2080ti right now? I would be upgrading from a RX 5700XT, and I want to game at 3440x1440 100Hz. Honestly have no interest in RTX, and I know the risk with last gen Nvidia cards being slowed down with driver updates. 2080ti founders are going anywhere from 700-800$ on ebay sold listings right now, so I could just buy and flip it. I am very skeptical of Nvidias claims about the performance of the 3070, and how many will be available, making the launch basically a paper launch (see ryzen 3300x). The 2080ti still has the 11gb frame buffer, and I think that will help keep prices of it high. So with all that considered, what would you do? I have a ryzen 3700x based system, so I am only GPU limited at this time.
  18. Ok that pic being your build makes much more sense, its been a long day, somehow I missed that. Honestly, you might expect a 3 slot 2080ti to be able to stay cooler than 81C, from the pic of your build I see that the fans on the 280 are not sealing against the radiator in that configuration. With the fans not sealing it might not create enough static pressure to move adequate air to cool both CPU and GPU, just an idea tho. But back to your question, yes it does look like some shorter ram/low profile fans would be necessary for a top rad+fans in your build. But it is totally doable. Side note, having your AIO tubes as the highest point in the cooler loop can cause bubbles to gather in the tubes, the exact location they should not be for longevity and maximum performance, generally its best to have the pump being feed by gravity by having the rad(reservoir) in a position where the tubes and pump are always pressurized by gravity, just something I have heard, probably not something to worry about until that AIO is a few years old, it just will need to be refilled with water sooner to remove those bubbles.
  19. I just did my new build with the Meshify C TG with a top mounted Cooler Master ML240R, it fits just fine, you just have to watch your clearances with ram and mobo heatsink, do not go for super tall ram (my Ripjaws V works great), but in my experience it should be fine. Also, note your GPU length. My GPU is 306mm in length and the case supports a maximum of 315mm with the front fans installed, with a radiator in the front it will be even tighter (it would not even come close to fitting in my build, but my 5700XT is massive). Just ensure that your GPU+Rad+Fan all add up to less than about 325mm, you might get away with a bit more tho but don't count on it. If its less than 315 then even better and you should have some breathing room for getting everything in there. If you would like me to do some measuring on my case just send me a DM and I proabably can get them to you sometime tmr or the next day.
  20. I am sure sennheiser had to cut some costs out somewhere, but from every review I have watched they are very similar sounding, to the point where it makes no sense to buy the 660's over the 58X. But you never know, I have not listened to either yet maybe the 660's are worth 400$
  21. Yea probably going to be a while till I buy anything else headphone related, I went a little spend happy this time around, picked up the HD8 DJ's and the 58X's (bass cans for everywhere and all rounder cans for my desk), also just got a Magni 3+ over the Hersey, the 3+ supposedly has a warmer, more fun sound to it, while the Hersey is just a little better on paper. At the end of the day, I would be perfectly content with the HD8 DJ's, I got them for 150$ with free one day shipping from B&H, so it was stupid not to buy them and flip my M50x's. Also ended up getting the 58X's for 115$ and they have already shipped, this decade is going out with some deals it seems! From everything I have read, they really come alive with a proper amp, which is no problem, but as a bass head, they just seemed a little to analytical and flat to me based on all the reviews I have watched and read. The 58X's have the same drivers as the HD 660's that go for around 400$ with only a piece of foam between the back grill and the driver itself. So take that foam out and boom you have 400$ pair of headphones. I probably will leave the foam in to increase the bass response tho.
  22. Yup, I really can't find very much differences between them, if the Hersey is better, I am going to buy it, If it don't matter, then I want the plan looking silver 3+, at the end of the day I don't think they really matters much for my use case until I start stacking other schiit products (I want the Loki, and the Modi, but thats for the future) I just want them to match when I do go for them.
  23. They gotta make everything all gamer-y now days, might as well just slap some RGB on it lol, I am gona look at some comprisons between the 2 and just buy one, but first, I am gona get my order of 58X's in.
  24. Alright, I was being very tempted with the 80$ price tag on the O2, but I think the Hersery will be better in the long run, lots of power and room for future expansion, I just wish it was all black or silver instead of red.
