  1. Some company or person is getting insane rich inserting graphics cards into slots. https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-GAMING-GDDR5X-Technology/dp/B06Y15DWXR/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1502898533&sr=1-2&keywords=GTX+1080+ti https://www.amazon.com/GIGABYTE-GeForce-GV-N1030D5-2GL-Computer-Graphics/dp/B071DY2VJR/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1502898797&sr=1-1&keywords=GT+1030 Even on a GT 1030 they give the offer of an $84 installation -- more than the price of the card... what is going on here?!
  2. I am buying 32GB of ram, so that I can put Starcraft II in a RAMDISK and have good loading times. Which one should I get? 1600MHz 9-9-9-24-2N (G.SKILL Ripjays X) 1866MHz 10-11-10-30 (Corsair Vengeance Red) 2400MHz 11-13-13-31 (Corsair Vengeance Pro) All three rams are the same price (around 160-170$ for 32gb). I have a 4790k @ 4.9ghz and 980 ti. 3. Is there any way to "pull" the fan out just a little tiny bit so this horrible sound goes away?
  4. My G1 Gaming, just after 34 days (which is after the 30 day return policy from newegg) now has a horrible fan grinding noise. The fan seems to be so close to part of the heat sink, it's literally scraping against the metal, and it's unbearable. Do you think newegg will replace it if I beg them? Is going for the warranty even worth it, ever? Don't they take like, months to fix it for you? Does the warranty even give you a new one, or just "try" to fix it for you? I can't believe they put the heat sink so unbelievably close to the fan that it's scraping. They put like, less than 1mm between the fan blade and the heat sink. I have no idea how to fix this? Is there some way to lift the fan so that it's farther out away from the heat sink? It's so weird, the fan just randomly started grinding. It actually had this problem the first day that I got it, but it somehow went away naturally (I thought it was some wire near it). But now, I've noticed that it's literally the fan itself has a problem. I'm such an idiot for not returning it.
  5. Ok, then if the CPU still does sound, how come my "Sound Core" is supposedly a quad-core sound processor. It obviously does something.
  6. Does my sound card reduce burden on my CPU? Thanks.
  7. I have it overclocked +120Mhz, and it says 1272/1361 BASE/BOOST using OC GURU II. But it always stays at 925mhz on idle, and according to hardware monitoring, only reaches 1152 at max. What?!
  8. How did it happen? What did it feel like, and why? Which game was it in? Did you have any anguish or upset-ed-ness about it? And, were you OK with it?
  9. For $300 you could snag a used 780 Ti on ebay Also, you can get a 4690k for about $190 on ebay, which turbos up to 3.9ghz even without overclocking
  10. It's true the 980 ti isn't a world better, but it is 20-30% better I finally figured it out: my CPU. My CPU overclocked to 5.2Ghz somehow was holding it back big time. I think it's because I allowed the maximum amps per core to go as high as it wanted, and fiddle with Vcore ring to get it to 5.2ghz. Anyway, when I restored the CPU to stock 4.4ghz turbo, the benchmarks were much higher than the 980. Plus, when I overclocked it back to 4.8ghz without fooling around with the other voltages, the benchmarks had a solid 25% improvement over the 980.
  11. I'm trying to fiddle with drivers as much as I can. The card never goes above 50C, it's overclocked, functions normally I'm guessing I might have to return the card to newegg. It actually came with an LED problem; I can't get the LED to show a perfect white or orange. I can deal with not having orange or white LED, but this performance is really crappy.
  12. It's overclocked to 1400mhz turbo... I also reinstalled drivers
  13. I was extremely excited today to get my g1 gaming from newegg; I sold my windforce 780 ti for $300... and The card I got sort-of works, sort-of doesn't. For one, I noticed it didn't do much better than the 780 ti, and also noticed it did worse than my 780 ti in a lot of areas. So I benchmarked it, and here's what I got: Am I missing something? I have the latest drivers. Thinking of reinstalling them.
  14. Has anyone returned their 980 ti due to this controversy? Is anyone upset by the DX12 situation? Is anyone considering buying a Fury X right now, because of it? What are your predictions?
  15. I'm surprised ppl are still saying the 980ti instead of Fury X when the whole DX12 controversy is still going around : P The only reason I'm not returning my 980 ti is because by the time DX12 games that use async compute come around, I'll probably upgrade to pascal anyway, so who gives a sh.?
  16. Zen is going to be like the Fury X, Barely matches its competitor, Total disappointment.
  17. I have an i7 4790k, here's my setup: Vcore: 1.395V Vcore ring: (wtf is vcore ring? I increased it anyway) 1.2V Cooler: H110i GTX UPDATE: got it to 5.3ghz Uncore: 4.0Ghz Turbos: 1core 5.3ghz 2core 5.2ghz 3core 5.1ghz 4core 5.0ghz So far hasn't really messed up. I feel pretty lucky. Am i?
  18. it depends more on voltage. Voltage and mess things up. But hot temps can't (from my experience) I repeatedly overheated my laptop CPU (i7 720q) and GPU (mobility radeon 5870) to 120C (i'm not kidding, it overheated HUNDREDS/possibly a thousand times and shut itself off), it took 4.5 years for it to give in. but according to stuff I've read, voltages can really mess your stuff up fast
  19. Nobody knows what's going on with async. A lot of people are jumping the gun and saying nvidia doesn't really have async. It probably does.
  20. There isn't much overclocking difference, is there? Why bother with watercooling if they perform pretty much the same, plus, it's about $70 more than a G1 gaming. :0
