  1. Shameless bump as there've been no replies
  2. So it's time for my annual upgrade / Xmas present to myself, and I have a few options below. I have never owned an iPhone (though, I have owned 2 iPads, 2 Macbooks, 1 MacBook Pro and 1 MacBook Air) and have used Android exclusively in the last couple of years. Counting my phone progress it has gone as follows: 0. Some Crappy Samsung 1. Nokia Lumia 1020 2. Nexus 5 3. OnePlus 1 4. OnePlus 3 5. Moto Z I am completely open to both Android and iOS. I would say that I use Google's services slightly more than Apple's (Gmail, Google Drive) but mostly use Microsoft (Outlook, OneDrive, Word, etc). I also currently have Apple Airpods (which I love) and a Moto 360 Gen 2 so accessory wise I'm half way in both camps. I use my phone mainly for web browsing/Spotify (a lot!), Messanger, WhatsApp, Snapchat, Facebook & YouTube and the Camera very regularly. I work in a school and we have AirPlay on all our screens, but at home I have Chromecasts and Google Home - again I am 50/50 between the operating systems. My current phone (Moto Z) is quite nice, however I have noticed the battery is VERY unstable so I have to use my "worlds thinnest flagship phone" almost always tethered to a battery bank, and the Camera isn't really impressing me too much. I do not have a headphone jack on my phone, but I am 99% unphased by this as I have dongles and Airpods, and while the Airpods work with Android, they are quite glitchy at times and they've performed way better paired with Macbooks or iPads. Here are the current options, converted into USD for convenience (I live in Hong Kong): 1. Samsung Galaxy S8, 64GB = $691 USD 2. Samsung Galaxy S8+, 64GB = $781 USD 3. Samsung Galaxy Note8, 64GB = $897 USD 4. Sharp Aquos S2 (High End), 128GB = $561 USD 5. LG G6+, 128GB = $602 USD 6. LG V30,128GB = $742 USD 7. Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, 128GB = $549 USD 8. HTC U11, 128GB = $640 USD 9. iPhone 8+, 64GB = $844 USD 9.5. iPhone 8+ 64GB + Apple Watch S3 = $1138 USD 10. iPhone X, 64GB = $1100 USD 10.5. iPhone X, 64GB + Apple Watch S3 = $1394 USD I appreciate: 1. Battery Life should last me a whole day, preferably more. 2. High quality screen (4K on mobile is dumb, I'd prefer a nice 1080/1440 screen (IPS/OLED)) 3. Waterproofing (IP67/IP68 basically a necessity) 4. Decent/very good Camera 5. Big screen (5.5in - 6in) 6. Wireless charging very nice, but not needed. 7. I've used android a lot, but I'm happy to try iOS. Regarding other devices I own right now at the same time: 1. Motorola Moto 360 Gen 2, Apple Airpods, Razer Blade Stealth, PS4, Xbox One, Gaming Desktop Given the options and pricing above, what would you suggest I buy at it's local price point? Happy to hear other ideas but some phones (Razer Phone) aren't available here.
  3. new they are $2000 - $2400 HKD, so $250 to $305 USD
  4. They are very available here in Hong Kong I'm planning on buying 20 to sell on ebay with markup because they're so readily available.
  5. R3 is slated for a Q3 2017 launch so maybe not. Just have a month or so to go.
  6. Both are: Intel Pentium G4400 MSI Gaming X RX580 8GB (x2) 4GB Corsair LPX DDR4 AsRock H170M Pro4 Silverstone Strider 550w 80+ Bronze Came up to about $750USD each and produce about $220 a month.
  7. Exactly - but who would have a spare $170 cpu laying around. Just seems like they should've waited a bit longer for the Ryzen 3 unless theyre releasing later in the cycle.
  8. Just seems odd as mining requires very minimal CPU power so most miners (myself included) go for Pentiums/i3s which are less than half the cost of the cheapest Ryzen CPU. It's all about return on investment, so why would you needlessly spend up to an extra $100 minimum for no gain - unless this motherboard is dirt cheap it seems like a bad move until Ryzen 3 1200s come out at hopefully near $60-$80.
  9. Been sitting with 35-55MH/s since i started and have no complaints yet
  10. Source: http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=882#overview Lesser known motherboard manufacturer Biostar just released a new AMD AM4 based motherboard specifically for gpu mining able to support AMD and Nvidia cards mining at the same time. Featuring just 2 DDR4 dimms, 6 PCIe slots and 2x additional 12V 4pin power headers to help power your 6 cards. Seems a bit odd as they promote it on social media with the phrase "Time is money to make your ROI the most efficient" but chose to base this on Ryzen, which has no CPU in a price bracket near the Celerons, Pentiums and i3s used by most mining rigs. The cheapest Ryzen CPU, the R5 1400 comes in at $169.99, almost 3x the price of the Pentium G4400 at $59.99. No information on pricing or availability just yet for the motherboard but hopefully soon before the craze starts fading for their sake.
  11. Ultrawides are amazing and I swear by them, but only get them if they're 29'' or greater as the 25'' ones are not worth I t. You'll have a 2560x1080 display but the physical monitor will actually be smaller than a 24'' standard 16:9 / 16:10 monitor.
  12. I'm on windows 10. I gave up with Linux haha
  13. The Aorus ones were out of stock so I went with MSI Gaming X ones which I believe are good OCers, Undervolted and underclocked actually gave me higher than stock hash rate, although sitting at about 23MH on each card. Probably need a bios flash to get a better result.
  14. MSI RX580 8GB Gaming X (2), mining ETH in the Ethermine.org pool with Claymore
  15. such is life - I've got everything setup (running windows because I had hassles with Linux) and only have 22-23MH/s per card without OCing (reported, actual is down to 10MH/s and I have no idea what is going wrong).
  16. already built. When I do ethminer -G -M I get a result, it's only actual mining that has issues.
  17. building a windows iso USB as I'm typing this as I've wasted like 2 days compiling and got a lacklustre result. Would rather go to windows and at least be able to OC. Will use my win10 rig to build a windows 10 iso and then downgrade
  18. played with directories and it worked - now I'm 'mining' at 0MH/s
  19. Now I get this error: (tried once with / and once with ./) superuser@miner:~/Desktop/cpp-ethereum-master/build/cpp-ethereum$ bash mine.sh mine.sh: line 6: /ethminer: No such file or directory superuser@miner:~/Desktop/cpp-ethereum-master/build/cpp-ethereum$ bash mine.sh mine.sh: line 6: ./ethminer: Is a directory superuser@miner:~/Desktop/cpp-ethereum-master/build/cpp-ethereum$
  20. The FS argument was removed: export GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR=0 export GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE=100 export GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS=1 export GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT=100 export GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT=100 ethminer --farm-recheck 200 -G -S asia1.ethermine.org:4444 -O 33205e99c796d3a3333b84685c3f3f20e41d3d7e.rig1
  21. Changed the Setx command to export and it worked perfectly - however now i'm still having issues with the unknown " -S " command in the last line.
  22. Got them in the system but messing with Ubuntu & mining is doing my head in - sucks that windows 10 isn't as good for mining. Haven't found a way to overclock the GPUs on Linux so I'm only getting around 22MH when I swear I could OC to get a bit more (closer to 30) as I have beefy coolers on them.
  23. And the last line with the invalid -S argument?
  24. Already Tried, still get the same output: superuser@miner:~$ cd /home/superuser/Desktop/cpp-ethereum-master/build/cpp-ethereum/ superuser@miner:~/Desktop/cpp-ethereum-master/build/cpp-ethereum$ bash mine.sh mine.sh: line 1: setx: command not found mine.sh: line 2: setx: command not found mine.sh: line 3: setx: command not found mine.sh: line 4: setx: command not found mine.sh: line 5: setx: command not found Invalid argument: -S
