  1. Hello all, I am trying to do some research into what wireless routers would be a good value buy for a family member. They have a fairly large number of wireless devices at any given time (3-4 phones, 2-3 tablets, and 3-4 laptops). Are there any routers that you can recommend from personal experience? Also general suggestions (even if you haven't used it personally) are appreciated. Thanks!
  2. I work for a company that does upgrades and user migrations for mac users, the newer models are a nightmare in all cases. Some of the specs are nice and the new displays are really crisp, but they're a pain to work on compared to the old models. (Why a proprietary SSD Apple? Why?)
  3. The 2012 models are a nice model because it's still easy to upgrade the storage and the RAM. Retina models are nice but you get what you got for the most part, definitely not the easiest to repair or upgrade.
  4. Check eBay out, not sure what version of OSX you are developing for but I would recommend a MacBook Pro Late 2011 or 2012. They can run the latest version of El Capitan and run about $4-600 US
  5. Thanks for the suggestions, I will look over the parts list.
  6. Looks nice, thanks for the suggestions.
  7. Yeah, $1,500 sounds reasonable to me.
  8. Hey all, I am looking to build a new PC for myself, and some of the main tasks that this PC would be used for are video and audio editing. I'm less worried about audio but I feel that I definitely need a good CPU for editing video projects. I guess I would also need a good GPU to go along with it, so any suggestions on that are welcome as well. My overall budget is flexible as I plan on buying each part as I can so nothing too crazy expensive but I'm not necessarily looking for super budget either. Thanks!
  9. the H1? If you already have the H1 I would use it, you don't necessarily need a lav mic honestly, but it can be good for voice. If I were buying new I might go with a standalone USB microphone like one from Blue, they make awesome quality, great sounding microphones. Great for streaming or podcasting. But the H1 is a very nice little product that I personally love (buy the accessory kit too if you don't have it, link: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/H1AccPkg ) But if you don't already have it the Blue line of USB mics is a great alternative option. Blue snowball $69.99US: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SnowballAL Blue Yeti $129.99US: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Yeti
  10. I don't recall if I needed to install drivers or not, if you need any downloads or documentation they can be found here: https://www.zoom-na.com/products/field-video-recording/field-recording/zoom-h1-handy-recorder#downloads
  11. and a personal tip, don't keep the slide switch on the back set to auto gain, manually setting the gain is way better in general.
  12. I don't remember if mine came with one, but it takes a mini usb cable (not micro) and it plugs in next to the SD card slot. when you plug it in to the computer it will flash between two options on screen, I believe you push the record button when it shows the option that you want to use. It should have an interface mode and a reader mode. reader mode allows you to move files off of the SD card while interface mode lets you use it as a USB mic/interface.
  13. I haven't used my H1 in a long time so sorry if I'm not super clear on the specifics
