With a 10700k being cheaper, i'd go for the 10700k. Sure, you lose 2-3% in gaming, but your other workloads should benefit from the extra cores

The 5600X has roughly the same multithreaded performance as the 10700K, but runs cooler, uses less power, includes a cooler and has an upgrade path all the way to 16 cores.

  2. CPU bottlenecks on modern platforms aren't as big of a deal as they're made out to be. If you get the 3060 Ti, your frames will still be relatively higher. You can use the overlay in MSI Afterburner to verify this: as long as your GPU runs close to 100% and the CPU stays well under that, you can gain performance by upgrading graphics.

I wouldn't recommend downscaling from 1440p, as you lose frames overall, like you said.

then you would PROBRABLy need a new motherboard, unless a b450 decent motherboard

X370 and B350 also support Zen 2 with a BIOS beta update, although that depends on the motherboard.

If he is to upgrade the motherboard, might as well go all the way to Zen 3.

So I know I should be bottlenecking my graphics card with my processor but am i really?

at max setting with b sync on 2k resolution I get roughly 80-94 FPS on Warzone

And the usage never passes 60% on task manager

So how bad am I hurting my performance?

Is that GPU or CPU usage? Do you have task manager running in the foreground (game in the background)? What's the refresh rate of your monitor?

I don't really see a performance loss here.

Do think getting a R 5600 now is better than waiting for tiger lake? I don't think intel would offer much to be honest

It is definitely a good idea to wait for the supply chain to stabilise and prices to fall, but I would say that AMD is the better choice regardless. Intel's Rocket Lake will be the last generation to use the LGA1200 socket, whereas AMD may continue using the AM4 socket for another generation.

Its an old one... The board is called the Lenovo MAHOBAY and the pc is a tower LENOVO ThinkCentre m92p (3rd gen). So I am not sure if all of 'em are SATA 3.

Can u find it for me with the information I have given you? Would be a lot of help..

I am trying to figure out myself too.

    Thanks.

    I found this manual: https://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/thinkcentre_pdf/m82m92p_hmm.pdf

According to this, the top ports (closest to the top of the case) are SATA 3, with one eSATA and one SATA 2.

future proof, tbh i should probrably take 1 16gb stick, but then no dual channel, its mostly for future proofing, since my dad will be doing more and more things on the server, like editing, 3d modeling for his own pc, for example the smb/ idk people call it that.

You can always buy more RAM later. Single vs dual channel makes 0 difference in a server, especially on Intel. Why spend money on 32GB that you might use later, when you can spend it later when you know that you need it.

Since noone has asked this yet, is there a specific reason for getting 32GB of RAM? You won't need it for file sharing or Minecraft.

Never use Task manager as when you are out of game, the stats change because the game isn't focused as priority anymore.
Use HWINFO/MSI Afterburner/GPUZ in the background WHILE you play, then alt-tab and check the usages in those.

What about having task manager open in the background on a second monitor?

Hello, fairly quick and dumb question here, but I need to ask it:

My friend plans to finally get an ssd for his pc. He has a gigabyte GA-z170-HD3P motherboard  and is considering buying the Kingston A2000 1tb because it is on a fairly big sale for a few days. The ssd is NVME PCIe Gen 3.0 x 4 Lanes with up to 2,200/2,000MB/s and the motherboard specification states that it supports sata and PCIe x4/x2/x1 ssds, with the m.2 slot supporting up to 32Gb/s. Is this combination perfectly ok, or are there things that could cause an issue down the line? Also, is there a potential need to update the bios? I really don't want to screw him over on this.

Thanks for the help and enjoy the upcoming holidays!

This should work without any issues, because both are PCIe.

Ahh I see. Thankyou for the reply. I'll ask for a refund from Amazon and then look for a new one. Any idea what could have caused it? I don't see how putting on the front and back panel would have changed anything.

Did you have the motherboard and everything connected when you tested separately?

    Specs:
    Motherboard: b450 Tomohawk MAX
    RAM: Corsair vengance 2x8
    CPU: Ryzen 3600
    GPU: MSI 2060 Super 8GB
    PSU: EVGA 600 W1, 80+ WHITE
    CASE: NZXT H510
I received a new card today. The system was running fine since the 12th of November with my old 1050ti. Today I installed the 2060 super and booted into windows fine with no problems. I updated the drivers and then powered off my pc so I could put the front and back panel on. I unplugged the pc from power after powering it off. After trying to power on, the pc turned on for a second and then turned off again. I saw the lights on the GPU and the motherboard.  The pc then wouldn't turn on. Turns out the fuses in my room were blown. I turned the fuses on and they blew again when I turned on the power supply. I took out the power supply separately and plugged it in, and nothing was blown. I tried this in multiple plugs. So is it my motherboard that's fried? What could have caused it?

It is likely your power supply still. When you plug it in separately, there's no load on it, so it draws no electricity. 80+ white is a really old standard, so I would recommend replacing it with something more modern. Check out the PSU Tier List for suggestions.

Thanks for the info. What should I research or learn more if I'm aiming for everyday use pc but for gaming also but want 1440p something that will last in the long run.

I would suggest looking at LTT videos as has been stated before, most importantly reviews of video cards and CPUs. LTT compares them in real world applications, including games, so you would get a rough idea of what performance you would get at a given price point. GamersNexus is another YouTube channel, but he focuses on enthusiast hardware in greater depth, so you will get more thorough information.

Hey everyone, still got one last question :)
    I
found something online that sounds pretty good.

I found the Samsung Evo 970 for around 60€ https://www.alternate.de/Samsung/970-EVO-500-GB-SSD/html/product/1449400?

and would like to use it in my system. In the datasheet for the "Gigabyte B450M S2H Micro" it says, that the motherboard has a M2. slot.

Would you say it is worth the 10€ more for the ssd with the same Motherboard?

    Thanks for your help.

The Evo 970 is one of the best SSDs currently on the market. It is definitely worth it in my opinion, as it will also last longer than other options.

On youtube i can see when people create virtual machines under VMware Workstation Pro "Number of processors" and "number of cores per processors" and a "total processor count" so it's confusion what they are exactly, and if one = Cores and the other = threads.

    Thanks

Number of processors = physical processors. Some servers have multiple sockets with a CPU in each.

Number of cores per processor = as it says

Total processor count = cores per processor * number of processors

  16. So, if I'm understanding this correctly, you:

    1. Boot from the USB made with the media creation tool
    2. Follow the instructions shown
    3. When prompted to reboot for the first time, you remove the USB and then reboot
    4. With the USB not plugged in, your computer boots into the Windows installer again, basically ending up at step 1 again

I have never seen anything like this. Do you by any chance have other USB drives plugged in?

  17. If you want good performance and are on a budget, you could try looking at used computers. For example an old office PC with a 4th generation i5 (e.g 4460, 4590) and a cheaper graphics card (e.g GTX 1070, RX 580) performs relatively well. Just make sure the card fits in the case and the power supply can run it.
