Ziltoid_ reacted to Razercake in LTT Wallet Suggestion - for large card capacity
That is nice & all, but just as I always have some cash on hand. I will always have at least 1 card with me, not to mention my card for taking the bus/trains(there is a scanner & they haven't added mobile support) & my health insurance card. if I'm traveling ill have my EU health insurance card with me.
there is a lot of reasons to still have cards on you, even if it isn't a credit card. so that isn't an option for "everyone"

Ziltoid_ got a reaction from scottyseng in [help] new 6700k iGPU build, no video output
So I went out and bought some new Ram and it booted right up, looks like I did indeed have DOA ram. Thank you scottyseng and Naeaes for the help

You sure it's posting? Try the numlock. It won't turn on and off on the key before POST is complete.

Hmm, you might try reseating the RAM a few times (Happened to me where I thought I had a DOA board, but the RAM slots on my mobo were just really picky about being tight...took me 2-3 reseats to get it to post).
You might also clear the CMOS (Though it'd be pretty strange if you had to since you haven't done anything to the BIOS yet).
Double check all connections for loose power cables.

Ziltoid_ reacted to asim1999 in First Sony Xperia Z5 Compact review in English
This 7 minute review was posted recently, and as far as i can tell, the only full review in English at the moment. The guy's English isnt the best, but pretty good considering he is German. S
Summary of the review:
Pros:
Camera: much improved over previous Xperias
Performance: SD810 performs better than Z3+ but no longer overheats, only getting slightly warm as most other high end phones do
Waterproofing and Expandable storage
Minimal bloatware
Cons: plasticky design
Camera could be a bit better in low light (most smartphone cameras have the same issue)
Display: only 720p

Ziltoid_ reacted to Tim Q in Acer announcing 1440p 144Hz Gsync monitor with IPS (Update: Reviewed)
Review from TFTCentral finished and posted: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/acer_xb270hu.htm
Input/display lag is a non-issue at around 3 ms.
As expected, it is one of THE monitors to have right now and may be for some time.

Please use auto for text colour. That is very difficult for dark theme users to read.

Oh the input lag on this is going to be obscene... IPS is not built to do these kinds of frame rates. I'm VERY cautiously optimistic...

This video kind of reminds me of the old school LinusTechTips - spontaneous, less formal, super chill and shotty camera work. Really wish they would do more videos in this 'chill' style. Also good to see the sandals and socks getting in the spotlight, excellent.

I thought the FT05 was gonna be my next case but these reviews of the raven have me worried, the cable managment and PSU limitations look like they could be a problem. The bequiet case might win me over now

Ziltoid_ reacted to WoodenMarker in 1440p gaming rig, later this year
If you're going to wait for the FT05, you might as well plan later.
By the time the i5 is outdated for gaming, the i7 would likely be outdated as well. HT generally does little to nothing for games.
5 years is a long time in the world or tech. You're better off in the long run to get what you need now and save any extra money for more frequent future upgrades.
