  1. Hey guys. So I just joined the drop for the massdrop/hifiman HE 4XX collaboration headphones. This is going to be my first pair of planar magnetic cans and I'm pretty excited Currently I have the superlux hd681evo headphones with this mod: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/superluxs-hd681-evo-mod-i-donno-why-this-works-it-just-does.737372/ and I'm running them off the built in amp/dac, they sound good but not as clean as I'd like and they're not very comfortable (My ears are too big and...yeah) so they'll be my point of reference. Anyway do you think i need an amp/dac combo for these headphones? In my mind the amp or amp/dac combo becomes worth it if: 1.There is a perceptible difference in sound quality between it and the built in 2.The cost is under 100$ unless the difference in sound quality is actually pretty big 3.I can buy it here in Poland I'm currently rocking this mobo: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/SABERTOOTH-Z170-S/ Here's realtek's spec overview for the codec: http://www.realtek.com.tw/products/productsView.aspx?Langid=1&PFid=28&Level=5&Conn=4&ProdID=328 And the headphones in question: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/massdrop-x-hifiman-he4xx-planar-magnetic-headphones Thanks for replying
  2. was thinking about those but no easy way to connect them to the monitors and i dont want a million passthroughs.
  3. well thats what i was thinking as well... anyway thanks for the help.
  4. the problem is most of them run integrated and also the ones that dont have some weak gpus in them anyway so will that be able to handle two 4k screens well?
  5. So im looking for a good laptop for dual 4k displays. Work stuff and browser related and such not gaming. Also i would like it to be as subtle as possible as in not ROG and such. Any suggestions?
  6. yeah thats what im waiting for as well, want to see something from someone reputable.
  7. yeah saw that one, but also saw one where the guy barely managed to get 1380 not to mention that that was achieved at the cost of silence... so was that 1420.
  8. yeah im hoping those custom cards will be able to hit between 1400 to 1500 Mhz, if they do and the performance scales well then 480 nitro it is but from the couple of very early reviews i saw on youtube that isnt the case, im not quick to trust them but that just makes me lose faith in the AIB 480's.
  9. well yeah... theoretically but the 1060 manages the 60fps pretty much locked, the 480 not so much. Im starting to think that ill just get whatever i can get first meaning decent AIB cards.
  10. Well anyway i think ill just wait until the 1060 is actually released because now its availible for preorder, if the price drops then ill get that if it doesnt im going 390x.
  11. well i have seen pictures in HDR on my monitor and the same pictures without it taken by me so i know its no BS and you know i actually really like HDR. Also having a nicer image is for me at least better than having more fps, especially if im still hitting 60fps.
  12. well i've seen HDR on a non HDR display(and yes it does work) and i find its a great technology that makes the whole expierience better not some BS like ansel that i will never eeven touch. But still thats the only thing that even keeps the 480 in my mind.
  13. yeah i know but with the BS prices here im not given much of a choice, and unfortunately the 480 is a fair bit slower than a 1060 or 390x, and that may and probably will change over time but the fact remains that this is a card i will use for more or less one year.
  14. yeah thats what i think as well, the main thing for me is the feature sets, and im kinda butthurt that the 390x doesnt support HDR, though neither does the 1060.
  15. also my main games are: WOT. Overwatch, stuff that will run so fast on these GPU's it doesnt matter, and battlefield
  16. ill take a look at some more benches but the thing is im really interested in the performance after OC
  17. Ok so where i live(Poland) i can currently get a R9 390X Sapphire Nitro for the price of the gtx 1060(one of the cheaper ones) and i cant really decide. I dont play any games that are biased towards any of the cards and i plan to buy the high end cards of next gen once they come out so this is a short term card. I will overclock, i dont have a gsync/freesync panel, Im playing on 1080p and power draw is of no concern to me. So what would you guys suggest i do? Also as a side note the rx 480 costs the same as a 1060 here so yeah... I would love to buy amd that is why if the 390x is very close to the 1060 then id go for that but if after OC the 1060 is faster then i guess ill just get the 1060.
  18. i know but the thing is this isn't AMD vs. Nvidia its AMD vs. AMD and GCN vs. GCN albeit different itterations and the newer version with the higher Tflops is losing??? like wtf
  19. Ok so i might be doing smthing rly stupid writing this but i just don't get it. The RX 480 has 5.833 Tflops of compute at stock boost clocks (1266Mhz), the r9 390 has 5.1 Tflops of compute at its stock clock of 1Ghz, lets give it a little boost to 1100Mhz, that takes it to 5.6 Tflops. So what i dont get is how the 390 is outpreforming the RX 480 when the 480 is a card based on a newer itteration of GCN (AMD claims 15% improved IPC, that should easily make up for those 256 cores missing form the 480 even if its more like 10% better IPC) with faster clocks and whatnot. I will also add that the OC to 1350Mhz on the RX 480 takes it to 6.22 Tflops and even that doesn't beat the 390's 5.8 Tflops (with OC). So i am just a bit lost in this, the r9 390X has 5.8 Tflops so what the hell, It's probably drivers or smthing but to me thats a big gap for drivers especially considering the fact that It's still GCN. Do any of you guys have any ideas as to why this is happening? Anyway, waiting for the custom coolers maybe things will become more transparent when those arrive to market.
  20. Well this is my keyboard its some no name 5$ more or less crap, missing an f9 key, and has this enfuriating problem where the keys don't always go back to their original position(they just stay pressed) yeah so that's why I want that keyboard. Would help a lot anyway cool giveaway, good luck to me, and everyone else.
  21. That corsair is my second choice but does it have a fan controller like the noctis? Cause thats kinda holding me away from it.
  22. I actually did a build for my friend with the R5 its a nice case but i was looking for something a bit uhh... "crazier" lets say. Not to much but just a bit more flashy than an R5 or the enthoo pro.
  23. So im looking for a case for my new build.I currently have my eyes on the noctis 450. So i thought I'd check out what u guys think, feel free to throw in something niche.
  24. well my mouse keeps on moving around when im not actually moving it so thats fun, also scroll is kind'a broken and it disconnects from time to time so... oh and i almost forgot the cable is so worn i can see the metal part already, most likely thats why it disconnects. So yeah it would be really cool to get something that works.
