SimpleG reacted to EthanCGamer in Switching from APU + GPS to APU only
Yes, all you need to do is unplug the GPU and move the HDMI. I'd also uninstall the old drivers to free up some space. If your APU is as old as your GPU be ready for a pretty sharp drop in performance. I'd recommend finding a cheap used Nvidia 700 series or replacement AMD 200 series GPU for now.

Remove GPU, plug HDMI cable into mobo, uninstall video drivers and get a new GPU if you plan on gaming.

Everyone else covered it pretty well, but just as an added thought: consider grabbing a gtx 1050. They are very cheap and have excellent performance

Seriously though, try safe mode. Save files you need and re-install windows or try the recovery tools to wipe it with or without affecting you files

SimpleG reacted to gateoo in Project Blood Bath 5960x Triple SLI Titan X 128gb RAM Hard Tube Watercooling *COMPLETE?*
It is DONE! (kinda)
Finishing touches are mostly done, there are still some small things like making the 750 ssd not an eyesore and waiting for 3 more monitors, but who cares about those. On to the pictures!
Lights on!
Some close ups.
Front of the case looks like this.
Rog OC Panel letting me know about that mild 4.4Ghz overclock.
Pictures of the entire setup for now...
With the lights off.
Got a score of 20912 on Fire Strike Extreme putting me at number 60 in the world with 3 way SLI, not bad at all with the tiny +115 Mhz overclock.
The build is technically finished, hope you all liked it, but it isn't done yet!

I'm actually quite glad I didn't paint the Graphics Card over the summer, because I've been saving up for an upgrade to the rest of the PC. I'll be moving over to another build log when I've purchased the important components, because it's never a good idea to start a log with nothing to post.
Just as a heads up, the new build will be modded as well, albeit nothing involving a dremel (hopefully).

SimpleG reacted to ShadowCaptain in Useless/bad (tech) products people actually buy
But the Shuffle makes perfect sense.....
its a tiny light music player, great for going to the gym with, good battery life, great sound, built in clip is great when your cycling shorts dont have pockets etc - its not designed as a primary music player, has great features like VoiceOver and its gorgeous and well made....
its also cheap and works well with with somebody on the existing Apple eco system....
So.. yeah
Almost ANY product can be explained in logical manner if you think about the end user

SimpleG reacted to GoodBytes in Why is UK so expensive?
A popular questions. The answer is: -> In the UK, and many countries with VAT, the VAT is included in the price of the product you buy. While in Canada and United States, they don't. You have the surprise when you get to the cash register.
-> Another factor is taxes from your country from imported goods. This varies from the place of origin the good. That is why some products can be a lot more expensive than others.
-> Another factor is red tape and laws. For example, a country can require that x amount of employee work as support or sales over the phone, in the country they sale their goods. Depending on the wage and employment market that dictate the wage people are willing to work for the job and number of offers meeting the demand, this can affect the product price.
-> Another factor is transportation. If boats needs to be used, it can cost more than using trucks. Additional fees can be land cost. For example, if you need to have a large warehouse in Tokyo, Japan for your operations in providing your good to store/customers, then due to the super high cost of the warehouse land due to its size, the product will cost substantially more to pay off the cost of the warehouse the product needed to be in. In addition, minimum wage and how many people are paid to do their job. For example, if the minimum wage is 70$/h, then that dollar menu might be 10 or even 20$ menu instead, as the good needs to pay part of the employee cost (this is also why increasing minimum wage is only a short term solution, unless it isn't updated to follow the natural inflation rate)
-> Another factor is how many middle man layers is needed to reach the country. Some companies don't have the resources to manage their entire world wide distribution, as much as they would like it. So middle man are used. Each layer of middle man way profits, so it increases the price of the product at each stage. That is why some brands cost a lot more than other brands despite the same product, or companies simply don't sale the product in the country as the cost would be so high, they don't see it as people would actually buy it.
-> Government regulation on warranty. If a country says that the product needs to have a minimum of 2 year warranty, then that means that the product either needs to be made of superior quality to last 2 years, or/and keep warehouse of extra parts to repair broken parts longer, requiring more space, more logistics, and consider that a product can break more often, which all contributes in increase cost.
-> Lastly, although not a major factor in the technology sector, but: "How much people are willing to pay for the good". If people sees no value in it, then it can't be sold at a high price. And this ties in with the supply and demand principal of goods and services. If the demand is low and the supply is high, you, as a manufacture need to push things, so you reduce the price, and same is true for the reverse, where if demand is high, it is makes more rare, and the price is increased.
So, here are some factors that dedicates the price of a product in a country, and explains why each country has different prices.
This is a discussion going on here in Canada, onto why prices in the U.S are so much cheaper than in Canada, when our value of our currency was at parity with the U.S for many years. Even goods made in Canada at 100%, by a Canadian company, costs more here than the U.S

Happy to say I'm back up and running after successfully fitting the loop. I'll be catching up with logs for a while!
Spraying the Corsair SP120 and AF140 fan rings. No primer - I just sanded with about 200 grit paper, cleaned thoroughly and sprayed several thin coats. I'm happy with the paint, it has a good matt finish.
Tower of fans...
With painted rings
Flushing the (2x) Alphacool UT60 480mm rads, ready for fitting.
Fitting the top rad. I had to solder a female-female adapter for the 8-way fan splitter.
Top rad fitted. Also fitted the GPUs, CPU and MOSFET blocks. My planned tubing routes are marked by pipe-cleaners.
Drilled some holes - two in the midplate for tubes to pass through to the lower section, one above the res for a rear fillport, and a couple to mount the res holders further apart.
Both rads now fitted. I also used carbon fibre vinyl on the fans.
More coming soon!
