  1. Hello all, I have been having a problem for the past couple months where, every so often, the output from my mic will be nothing but awful static (kinda sounds like compressed air or something is being blown at my mic). The mic is an Audio Technica AT2020 XLR, hooked up to a Blue Icicle Audio Interface. Initially, I thought it had to do with the cord rubbing up against things or being affected by vibrations from the desk, but even after positioning my mic in such a way that the cord never touches anything but the mic and the rear IO of my computer, the problem still persists. I have tried unplugging and plugging everything back in, and have also tried (albeit briefly) using a different mini-usb cord (one used to charge PS3 controllers, likely low quality) and it didn't seem to help. An example of the noise can be found here (WARNING - LOUD) - that is from the perspective of another person. The mic sounds fine, maybe even good, 90% of the time, but when it does happen I can hear the screams of pain from the people im on the line with. If anyone can help me with this, I'd be deeply thankful, as it will prevent me from having to spend more money for a new mic and have this one be a waste of $200. Edit - The background static throughout the whole video isn't there on my local file, just the one on Youtube. Edit 2 - Replaced video with better version.
  2. I ran Witcher 3 and Unigine Valley at max settings 1080p with no issues, so it does seem to be the game. I'm reinstalling to see if it will fix the problem.
  3. It's not the game crashing it's the whole computer, then problems upon rebooting as well. Thats a crazy messed up game to do that. Also, I know power draw isn't going to be a problem, i just thought maybe my power supply was messed up or something. If i pay 180 dollars for something it better damn well be good, i know that
  4. Well, i guess im an idiot, because I just ran Unigine Valley at max settings 1080p and ran Witcher 3 at max settings 1080p in the most demanding area i could find and had no problems (aside from framerate). Thank you for your help, ill try reinstalling PUBG and see if that helps
  5. thank you for the help, i will try those. The sound is through my headphones, and is just a short beep. After it happens, when i restart my pc it freezes when loading Windows and just shows a white bar on the screen. I was thinking that maybe the PSU was fucking up the cables, since that was what fixed it before. Anyway, ill get back to you after benchmarks and stress testing and stuff.
  6. Grey text aside, i would still like help with this problem, as i don't really want to drop X money on a new psu
  7. Oh, well im not sure how to change that. Wasnt on purpose
  8. I don't have another PSU powerful enough, and can't afford another one. Also, what do you mean by grey text?
  9. Hello all. I have recently been playing a lot of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, and I have never had any problems with performance (high settings, 60FPS most of the time), and I'm still actually getting the same performance, the problem isn't that. The problem is that when I join a game, and am about to jump from the plane, my computer will make an odd noise, then all video output stops. I am using a GTX 970 from MSI (the Twin Frozr Gaming card) and an i5 4430. I have 8GB of RAM as well, and the game is installed on my SDD. The problem is power draw, so I have an 850W G2 from EVGA (80+ Gold). This has happened twice in a row now, and I haven't tried any other games. If you would like me to run another game or a benchmarking tool to see if it is actually a load problem, i would happily do so. Thank you for your time, GymothyCharles P.S. I might add that I am using Windows 10, 64 Bit, and haven't changed anything since it was working. Also, I just tried updating my drivers, and that did not seem to help. No overclocks either. I had this problem a month or two ago with the same game and switching out the PCI cable fixed it, but i don't have any more 8 + 6 pin cables, and the 8 pin didnt work. Temps when the problem occurs here - For the last two pictures, as and after it happened, I couldn't see anything on my monitors, and just captured a window.
  10. Someone on reddit said it could be a problem with the PSU, but made no mention of how to prove that that is the problem, can anyone help with that?
  11. http://imgur.com/a/vJHaD this is the temperatures from before, when, and after it happened. I also recorded a video of these windows, but it corrupted.
  12. no overclocks, gonna go try again and monitor temps, be back with results. not sure what you mean by the windows update thing

  14. Well, I guess that answers the M50x question XD.
  15. Im pretty sure im going to get the DT 770 80 Ohm, but im not 100% on whether or not my phone (Exynos S7)(Im specifying because I heard it has a different DAC/Amp than the Snapdragon version) will drive it. If I do need an Amp for it, which is the best between the Fiio Q1, K1, and A3 in terms of value for the money, and being able to drive the 80 Ohm DT 770. I'd prefer to spend as little money as possible, as I'm a little short on cash, so a max 300 CAD for the entire setup, less is better. Also, how is the ATH M50x as an alternate? I wont be using this out in public, mainly at home (mainly hip-hop music, video games (PC), other music) and on road trips (plane, bus, car, etc.) My r/headphones thread - https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/4vgnn3/daily_headphone_purchase_advice_thread_20160731/d5yhxoy
  16. I dont like the graphic on the 300 though, my only problem with the 200 is the colour, so I was gonna colour it white with a fabric marker, also wondering if that'd work.
  17. Im looking at the extended version of both, the are the same size.
  18. I want a new mousepad, and these are the two i was looking at. I was just wondering what the difference is, and if one is better in any way than the other. Also, I dont like the yellow on the 200, but I prefer the design, so I was wondering, if i get that, if I could colour over the yellow with a white fabric marker or something. Edit - I should add that my mouse is the Razer Naga Molten, and Im looking at the extended versions of both mats.
  19. Also, it seems to be slowly bending itself up. I bent it straight, then 5 minutes later its at a 15 degree angle...
  20. Yeah, but on older cables. This one is 4 days old! EDIT - I didnt read your post correctly, sorry, and thanks for the feedback.
  21. Not sure if this is the right place for this, but I need help. I bought an awesome 20 CAD Micro USB Cable from Walmart, and the brand name has something to do with spiders. Anyway, I bought this cord on Friday, now 4 days later, the clips that hold the thing in have sunken down into the thing (pictures below). I need to know if anyone can help me fix this, and thanks in advance. How it looks - http://imgur.com/a/ahACz How it should look - http://imgur.com/a/DmZIm
  22. Hey all! I got my 970 about 2 months ago and love it. I have been wanting to OC it for a while, but im not sure i want to, or am ready to. I cannot afford a new card, and overclocking voids the warranty. I want to know what the failure rate is for the MSI Gaming Twin Frozr V 970 overclocked by a total noob. Thank you.
  23. Hey all! I was enlightened by gaben about a year ago, and since then i havent used my ps3 at all. The system is around 4 years old, and was purchased for 300ish dollars. I have a whole whack of games, a few have hardly been played. List of games: NHL 14 NHL 15 (not played much) Assassins Creed IV (not played much) Assassins Creed Revelations Assassins Creed II Resident Evil 5 (taken out of case once) Bioshock 1 Mortal Kombat (not sure what one, kinda new) CoD BO1 Red Dead Redemption (the one with both the base game and the zombies addon) And afew mor that i forget. How much do you think i could get for everything? Thank you Edit - CAD (canadian) not USD
