  1. Looks like -12V and ground but you're probably better than me at this

  3. As the title states, I woke up, and my PC wouldn't turn on. Weird right? I tried clearing CMOS, reseating the RAM, and nothing seemed to work. And then I took a closer look. I noticed a definite burning smell, and saw that the 24pin connector had fried, and that the motherboard was unusable, and the power supply probably is too. My question is, is EVGA liable for the damage that their power supply caused to the rest of my system? It certainly isn't Gigabyte's fault, but the motherboard also isn't EVGA's product. What do manufacturers do in the event of a situation like this?

Yep, the PSU has 4 years of its 10 year warranty left, and luckily I have a V1200 that I can swap in. Fortunately (or unfortunately) it killed the board in my crypto mining rig, not the SR-2, which I can't easily replace.

Mine is still going. Although the load it deals with now it's barely at half capacity as opposed to around 500W when I ran the GTX 980s.

At least the PSU has a 10 year warranty though right?

  6. It's not just withdrawing money; people with gasoline-powered cars thought they were safe when there was no power. Well, gas pumps don't work when there's no power, so....
  7. Have you considered a Ford EcoSport? My grandfather has owned one for years (the gas powered, manual one), and hasn't had problems.

I unfortunately never used Vista much. It was mostly XP and then 7, which I used extensively, and honestly, prefer to Windows 10.
  9. Summary On February 22nd, 2020 at 6:15 AM PST, one of the largest blocks was mined by Ethermine, a large mining pool, which bolstered miners' profits at a time when earnings were falling due to difficulty increases and a reduction in the price of ETH from its high of ~ $2000 earlier this week to a low of ~ $1580 on Monday. The roughly 112 ETH payout was equivalent to about $200,000 US Dollars, while a normal payout of roughly 4-7 ETH would usually result in a payout of roughly $7125 to $12,469. The high transaction fees, along with the large electricity usage that miners consume, has caused some in both the PC Gaming and Ethereum/DeFi community to express their displeasure at the current PoW (Proof-of-Work) system. All of this comes after the news that Ethereum miners made record profits in January 2020, while Ethereum users and consumers of PC hardware continue to experience exorbitant costs. Quotes My thoughts I'm personally conflicted about this. While I am an Ethereum miner, and the extra money today was definitely nice, the future of the Ethereum network is really at stake here with high transaction fees. Many of the really cool DeFi apps make no sense with transaction fees in the $12-$20 range. Climate Change is also an issue here. While I am personally mining on renewables, not everyone is, and as cryptocurrencies go more mainstream, the electricity usage could start to become a real problem. 11. The supply of the cards are restricted and demand is very high. If you need a card now, you're going to have to pay a pretty penny for one. That's just the reality of the situation right now, sorry.
  12. I don't even know if it's a small car problem or an old car problem. The new LED lights on some of these cars need to be illegal. They are WAY too bright. Brighter than my headlights with high-beams on.
  13. Yeah, I do think SUVs are pretty unnecessary, but I do understand why some people like them. Driving on the freeway in a small car, can definitely be a bit intimidating. I'd be curious to know what @bcredeur97thinks about this, driving a Miata on the freeway must be a bit nerve-wracking.
  14. I don't think will be the case -- while the new 6700XT is rumored to have 12GB of VRAM, which would be more than enough for the Ethereum DAG, it also has a 192-bit memory bus, which may make it inefficient for mining. The RX480, the previous king of Ethereum Mining, has a 256-bit memory bus. The 3060Ti, also has a 256-bit memory bus. Gamers, this may be a card that you can actually buy, if the foundries get their stuff in order.
  15. Is it just me or has everything become more expensive? I'm not making more money, but everything seems unusually expensive now.
  16. Yep, I'm using an even older platform, an EVGA SR-2. Performance is fine, gaming is fine too, as I usually don't play at 1080p. The real bummer is the feature set. Do you want USB-C? PCI-E Expansion card. More than 2 SATA 3 ports? PCI-E Expansion card. NVME SSDs? PCI-E Expansion card. I end up using all of my PCI-E slots on expansion cards, just to get features that are available on newer platforms.

Where did you end up getting a card? I've been looking for weeks and can't find anything that isn't at least a 150% of MSRP.
  18. How do you guys feel about car financing? I am generally against debt for assets that depreciate, but interest rates are ridiculously low right now, it might make sense if you can allocate the capital in a more productive place.
