    The minimum qualifications are a gigantic nothingburger, too. Their requirements are really “be relatively young, have finished college, and already have been working for 3 years, 2 if you went above a BA”

    I can't help but roll my eyes and move on, because that's an okie-doke clear as day. I'm a software engineer, and I do this for a living. There is nothing surprising to me about this at all.

    Awareness, primarily. I know it may not make sense immediately, but pushing out things that are 'opinionated' or 'controversial' actually makes it easier for them to rule out things that are opinionated/controversial that don't fit their perspective, leaving in things that do. It's why freedom of expression is the first amendment of the US constitution... they kinda saw this coming, because it happened a lot in the past.
     
    I think it happens in large part because the extremists are so off the deep end that they can't see how political all of their convictions and motivations are.
