GrantSor+1 got a reaction from C_Mike in i5 4670k + Z87 Plus OR i7 3770k + ECS Z77 GOLDEN
PLUS, should I also consider an i5 4690k + an ECS GANK Z87 MACHINE for $10 more?

GrantSor+1 reacted to PoloGG in PCIe bandwith question. (I don't get this at all and need help haha)
I don't think it will work, since the i7-4790k only has 16 PCIe lanes, so your 2-way SLI will use those lanes (8x 8x), and there will be no lanes left for the SSD (4 lanes).

GrantSor+1 got a reaction from Guest in i5 4460 to replace my FX-6300 worth it?
The Price of an i5 4460 in the PH is $188 + the price of the mobo which is $98
So its $56 of
Is it a good deal if Its my Fx-6300 + 970A-ds3p + $120 for the i5 + board?
1.) I have a ram, a single stick 8GB Gskill RED which I removed because it doesnt match my theme (but I still use it) and Im planning to get a HyperX Black or Dom Plats
2.)My cooler is a deepcool maelstrom 240, I got it for $74 ( my cpu costs $119 here in the Ph)
I'll see.

GrantSor+1 got a reaction from kameshss in Pentium G3258 or Athlon X4 860K?
If you plan to get the G3258 i advise that you should get a Z board
Pros of getting G3258
-OC like hell
-you can upgrade down the road like an i7 or an i5
-cheap
some cpu intensive games like BF4 could benefit from the 860k's 4cores but its better to have less stronger cores than many weak cores
I would've bought the G3258 If it was released before I bought my rig last summer

GrantSor+1 reacted to Luke in MSi Z87 GD65 with I7 4770K
That's a MSI Z77A-GD65 not a MSI Z87-GD65. The i7-3770K will work with the Z77 motherboard and the i7-4770K will work with the Z87 motherboard.

GrantSor+1 got a reaction from Patfenis in two gigabyte 970 g1 gaming or one 980 ti?
But you just said
with that aside go for 2 970. 2 970's outperform a single 980 for just 10%-ish increase in the cost of a single 980
Go for giggabyte, I hear many people complain about ASUS an MSI 970 coil whines

GrantSor+1 reacted to dragoon20005 in AM3+ Micro ATX Motherboard Suggestions
problem with the mATX AMD mobos is they use crappy uncooled VRMs and chipsets
they cannot support the FX8320 without the VRMs cooking off and causing the performance drop
the minimum chipset to use is the 970

GrantSor+1 reacted to tabuburn in How to run higher than the maximum resolutions on your display
admin edit: added video inspired by this thread.
WARNING: I haven't seen anyone encountering this but just like overclocking, there is an inherent risk of damaging your display and it may not be covered by its warranty. It may not even be able to achieve the same settings other people are able to get.
Note: I did not make this guide but have used it on all of my monitors without any problems. Credits are due to the ones that originally posted these on another forum.
What this guide is all about is how to get higher resolutions than what your display is capable of. It is called Downsampling. What it basically does is to have your GPU artificially push a resolution that's over what your display is able to do. The impact it will have on your GPU is equivalent to what it would do on a display that can actually output that resolution natively.
For example:
Your display is natively able to support a resolution up to 1920x1080. Using Downsampling it will send out a signal to tell your display to output a resolution of 2560x1440. Now on a display that can output a maximum resolution of 1080p has about 2 million pixels while a 1440p display outputs 3.7 million. Downsampling does not increase the amount of pixels being displayed. Itcan't go beyond that. What it does is bring that 1440p resolution to your 1080p display and compresses it to fit inside the screen. The effect it has is similar to zooming out on a lower resolution picture.
Below, you can see the difference in image quality on both images taken on the same display. Both images are using the same settings but with different resolutions.

GrantSor+1 reacted to SoftenButterCream in Is the Gigabyte GA-970A-D3P Motherboard a good Motherboard?
Go for the Asus M5A97 R2.0 at least... I'd recommend a 990x motherboard with better phases. For such as 6+2 and 8+2The asus M5A97 is 4+2, but many people on the forums recommends it. I personally had it myself, not bad, i regret not getting a 990fx though
Edit: if your getting a 970 motherboard at least get the Gigabyte 970A-Ud3p as it has a 8+2 phase

GrantSor+1 got a reaction from SoftenButterCream in Is the Gigabyte GA-970A-D3P Motherboard a good Motherboard?
Go for the 990FX-UD3 if you plan to overclock
The reason why im not going to crank up the voltage is that my board(970A-DS3P) has a poor Powerphase design.
you can go for the UD3P version of that board or get a Gigabyte 990FX-UD3 instead

GrantSor+1 reacted to Muffinmaddness in What will I upgrade First
personally, id get the SSD first then save up to start your modding, as if you start half assed you wont push yourself to get into it, modding is not cheap at all, and when you get a nice case, you can mess around with your old one and mod that, and learn about modding in the time between buying your SSD and saving up for a new case =)

GrantSor+1 reacted to papeles in Anyone Using AMD RAPTR?
It's a retarded app imo, and this is why:
-First off, the user interface is dumb. I don't know who designs those instead of going for a clean looking and functional one. Full screen layout feels sluggish. I also don't like the app maximized,
-Game optimizations are mostly wrong. It kinda "forces" you to a specific preset and if you change something manually, even in the app itself, it keeps saying that the game isn't optimized.
-DVR is a plus. and aparently works decently. I would like to see it as part of the AMD drivers and not part of an app.
-Twitch streaming is beta for ages: typical AMD, the queen of unfinished software. Tbh, it's kinda useless since alot of game are starting to come out with a streaming option inbuilt. Also, a regular streamer would use OBS or xplit and probably use Intel quicksync or adm integrated gpu for that.
-The point system is a plus: you can get free stuff out of it, but thats the only good thing there

GrantSor+1 reacted to daemonowner in What is the wattage of my PSU?
That power supply is best used in the garbage bin.
2 12V rails, with 10A and 13A respectively, no more than 20A combined. Please... It is certified for 300W at 25C ambient, but I would not run a decent graphics card (or anything) on that, given the low Amperage.
To identify the specific model, I think we need the bit that's just cut out at the top.
